Yeah, was an error in pronunciation, but I actually used #1650 in adding up everything in the video. DOC was #1650 yesterday, and I still anticipate more reduction going forward.

I agree with you sir about the further reduction going forward as demand starts falling nonetheless while the economy's taking a beating due to government's policies, the astronomical hike in DOC, chicken feed and associated costs might be more driven by a cabal of strong interest groups not just inflation.

It depends on the stage they are in their production circle. Once the start laying, they'd pass through few stages of production. But if you management is good, in less than 2 months from the onset of their laying, they'd enter their peak production stage, where about 80-95% of them will be laying daily for about 8 months to a year, before it starts coming down gradually. @moseschigozie5412 for the Christmas broiler, I can't say for now. Today is 22nd Oct and am stocking my Xmas chicken on 5th November. So for now, I don't know what cost of production will look like by then. Maybe you should reask this question by first week of November, by then, I must have started stocking everything I need for the Xmas batch

1st of all, thanks for the compliment. 2ndly, the constant here is a good quality feed. The other variables is any chicken that overfeeds will be bigger than expected and any chicken that under feeds will be smaller than expected, within the timeframe you are monitoring. You can not totally avoid it, but to reduce the incidence, evaluate the performance of your birds weekly, separate them. increase ration for the underfed, where their will not be any competition for them any longer and adjust the ration of the overfed.

Yea, different hatcheries in Nigeria hatch different breeds ex; Agrited broilers are Ross Olam hatches Cobb Agric care hatches arbo acre, while obasanjo hatches marshal

It depends on your sales goal for the Xmas. If you normally sell your birds a as live birds, I would have said marshal breed, but the time to start raising it has passed, leaving us with Cobb and arbo acre breed. But if you sell your birds as dressed birds, I'd encourage you to wait ontil 6th November and raise Ross breed.

Thanks for also sharing how you guys do it in the USA. Here majority want to buy it it live, so they slaughter it themselves or witness the slaughtering.

I have read it used to be that way here...before the 1950's...people in our country here usually knew how to butcher & process chickens on their own, so they bought them live & butchered them on their own. I find it very interesting here that the shift away from that had alot to do with American & World history, & it impacts the entire modern American poultry industry. Here, pretty much all poultry for eating is sold already butchered & processed either into whole chickens or further cut into the chicken pieces. There was a shift in the first half of the 1900's in how American consumers purchased chicken, & gradually it became the norm here for them to buy poultry already butchered. It also brought about a federal poultry inspection system...before, when people bought live chickens, they were able to see the live bird & the consumer basically got to inspect the bird. With chickens being sold already butchered, there was a push for a standardized federal inspection of the live birds before processing & the carcass right after processing. Then that became the norm here in the USA. It's very interesting to learn about your sales where you live. Thank you for sharing your knowledge! Many blessings to you & your family!
