Welcome to the Pencross Railway of Eastern Ontario (Formerly of Vancouver Island).
If you wish to get a hold of me directly (about model or real trains, or COBi, only) I can be reached at:
musicals.director@gmail.com
Originally from Newfoundland, I have lived in numerous places across Canada. After over 20 years in Victoria, British Columbia, we relocated to Casselman, Ontario in August 2023.
While I have many interests this channel focuses on model live steam engines, new and vintage model trains, radio control model and toy train operation, real railways, and Cobi (and other) brick models. I often use Cobi models in conjunction with my trains.
Please subscribe and, more importantly, share my videos to help encourage the spread of our hobby! I also reply to all comments.

The transfers look as if they are the first British Railways logo, the "cycling lion". That dates the kit as 1948 or later.
I see later in the video you show the transfers again - definitely the first BR logo.
Is the Pencross Railway supposed to be Standard or Narrow gauge? Or is there an imagined third rail?
A very interesting slice of railway history. Like many lost lines in the UK, I sometimes wonder how life would have been different if it has continued to run.
@@watchfordpilot money went to roads. Imagine if it never? Trucking companies to this day irritate me when they talk about past railway subsidies. Trucks get subsidized by taxpayers all the time! They get free roads to drive on.
What a great find! Looking forward to watching the build process.
@@pauls-train-asylum-581 thanks! I am a little nervous about it. Cross fingers. ☺️
That was great Terry. What an awesome old station building. It just shows nothing leaves its mark on a place quite like a railway.
@@davidwhite1864 exactly. The location of all these towns was wherever the railways ran lines and spurs. Unlike in the UK many of these places were empty (well empty of European industry - the first peoples well used the lands) and farming and industry followed the railways. That’s why governments, including in the UK through the colonial office, encouraged and supported it. I know in the UK some places were created by the railway and some backwater places became large centres.
@@Terrys-Steam-and-Cobi Yeah many places didnt exist before the railway.
Sorry for your loss Terry. RIP Rob
@@michaelfranklin5884 Thanks Michael. I feel badly for his immediate family.
When can I move into the old station? 😊😊
@@associatedblacksheepandmisfits i know, right!?
Another great video Terry ! I,ve been here 25 years and finally found the NYC house thanks to you . Incidently the Farm Boy store in the Trainyards has a G scale train circling the interior of the stote . I understand Winnona maintains the layout . Cheers
@@sidselver9072 ha! I have a short coming 18th of Aug of that train loop in the Farm Boy. ☺️ I have a backlog of shorts. Thanks Sid.
Exelant video Didn't know that some parts of Canada are French It's only a matter of time you start publishing books about your railway The Adventures of the Pencross Railway
@@laaity a children’s series maybe. ☺️ All of Quebec, parts of New Brunswick, Ontario, and parts of Manitoba are French. My wife is French.

Great video Terry! Fantastic history lesson as well! It was really cool to see the buildings and locations! Also love your new NYC tank car! I love that NYC color!! ❤😎
@@naxshack thanks Brian!
Nice history facts here! Btw that locomotive from the Ottawa train yards location here is a nyc Dreyfuss Hudson I would say and that pretty cool that you have a New York central tanker on your g scale layout plus @ 5:15 omg that silly goose honking.
@@MattKonsol hahahahaha. Yes. We have a rather vocal goose on the Pencross Railway of Eastern Ontario. ☺️ I enjoyed learning a bit about the NYC running up through here.
Neat facts Terry.
@@huntercoleman460 thanks Hunter. ☺️ I had fun learning this.
Interesting history there, I'm no NYC expert , but I certainly didn't know about a branch into Canada
@@timothyboles6457 thanks Tim. In fact there were three. One into Montreal, Quebec, and one from Buffalo (and Niagara Falls) through very southern Ontario to Detroit. CSX now uses the two remaining. NYC - Penn Central - Conrail - CXS. Continuous through these routes.
Some Nice Interesting RR Facts Terry. Never hurts to learn a little more. Nice Tank Car and Layout is looking really good with all the Scenis Details.
@@jebbthetrainkid1281 thanks Matt. ☺️ I love discovering new history. I still have some Unfinished parts of the railway to complete
Thanks so much for the mention in your video Terry! Sorry that you had to go through that rain storm. I really enjoyed the video and the look at two former NYC stations. 😊❤
@@johnlazar7582 thanks John. Seeing inside that station - through the windows - was a real treat. Not made in a style of CN or CP stations. It was awesome to see it!
Fascinating story! Good work Terry!
@@RhBKeith thanks Conductor Kieth! ☺️
seeing someone running 16mm garden railway trains outside of the UK activates the neurons in my murican brain, nice model btw!
@@turboemerald9228 lol. Awesome. ☺️ Since my latest move I have no set up to run 16 mm trains outdoors yet. One is in the works!
That looks like a cool kit right there! I’ll tell you it’s gonna look good when it’s done!
@@MattKonsol thanks Matt! I hope it will look good. That’s up to me so cross fingers! Lol
That is such a super awesome gift! I can’t wait to see the build progress! I also collect older Tamiya RC cars and I have some boxed kits from the 80’s, some still in shrink wrap. I know what you mean though, as far as keeping it boxed or building it. Hmm, maybe add some Pencross Railway decals to the finished project! 😉😎
@@naxshack Tamiya has always made great stuff. I suppose I could make it a Pencross! Given it is O I never thought of that… hmmmm
Your logo on the tender, would most definitely look really cool! 😉
That’s one heck of an air conditioning system you have there Terry!
@@naxshack hahaha. Yes. It also removes blood sucking insects.
🤣😂😅
I'd keep it British, there are only so many of them out there and we haven't had a new one since 2000.
@@Alcofoamer good points. But I am still undecided. As I just typed to my friend Steve, I am leaning toward Canadian National because there is literally no way to have a Canadian engine in live steam in O, I have lots of Canadian (and USA) O gauge rolling stock and accessories, and I think it would be something to have a one of a kind. I don’t think that would hurt its value and not honour its heritage. It would be little different, perhaps, than a regular builder doing a bad job at their own LMS or BR paint job. And besides I’ll still have the buffers and such for a future owner.
Very nice
@@jshawbitter agreed. 😊
Or should I say the one you have is the feret and dart board also known as the unicycling lion 1950-1956 after that the lion was holding the dart board in its front paws.😁
@@davidwhite1864 i love these colloquial names for the logos. Reminds me of the CPRail “pacman” logo era.
@@Terrys-Steam-and-Cobi I have a feret and dart board cap badge somewhere.
Oh boy this is going to be good. It has to be built and run. As you say thats what its for. The British railways emblem that came with it is pre 1956 it changed to the feret and dart board after that. Not proof that the kit is pre 1956 but its in that ball park. Its not going to be easy but if I know you that engine will be running sooner rather than later. Fantastic so kind of John👍
@@davidwhite1864 haha. Thanks Dave! I’ll be getting right on it. ☺️ Yes, John is a treasure. Early 1950’s seems about right. Bassett-Lowke put our engines seen on the rails at the time.
It is so amazing to find an old kit like that! I look forward to watching you build it Terry! Back in the 1970s I found a bunch of unbuilt HO kits at a flea market, they were all from the 1950s. I still haven't built any of them, but they are nowhere as cool as that locomotive kit.
@@johnlazar7582 i don’t know John, I love any old vintage loco kit. ☺️ But this one being live steam does seem a bit special. ☺️
@@Terrys-Steam-and-Cobi It is definitely a special kit!
Exciting prospect, lots of possibilities
@@timothyboles6457 indeed! I love to run my old toy trains. And with live steam!!
@@Terrys-Steam-and-Cobi hard to go wrong there.

@@associatedblacksheepandmisfits indeed. I must fix that. And I will definitely enjoy!
Really cool kit Terry.
@@huntercoleman460 i agree Hunter. ☺️
What a wonderful thing to have, a real treasure! Thing is, keep it as a it or is it too tempting build? Given it's heritage and all the detailed parts maybe it would be fitting to build it as a UK loco? I had a quick look and given the price of £15 and 15 shillings I would estimate it's age as mid to late 50s. Whichever way, a thing of beautiful nostalgia. BTW, make sure of your prep before you solder 😁😉
@@watchfordpilot haha. Thanks Steve. I’ll prep. ☺️ I am leaning toward Canadian National because there is literally no way to have a Canadian engine in live steam in O, I have lots of Canadian (and USA) O gauge rolling stock and accessories, and I think it would be something to have a one of a kind. I don’t think that would hurt its value and not honour its heritage. It would be little different, perhaps, than a regular builder doing a bad job at their own LMS or BR paint job. And besides I’ll still have the buffers and such for a future owner.
Awesome locomotives looks like you might be busy
@@ELWtrains i hope to be busy, yes. By the way, saw your short with the young fella. That’s just what I like to see. The next gen. 👍
HHHHMMMMMMMMMMMM YOU LUCKY FISH You know how i feel about these basset lowke engines Someday I'll get my hands in one Idk how Idk when But I'll get one some day And most likely be in serious debt I personally wouldn't convert it to north American How ever I've never had something like that so i can't really say anything I would make a special adapter for the engine to connect to other rolling stock How ever at the end of the day it's your engine And its history doesn't seem to be written yet So you are the one who shall start its history
@@laaity indeed. Very sage. I am leaning toward Canadian National because you literally cannot get such a loco in love steam. And yes, I am a lucky fish. ☺️ Well, you’ll have such a loco one day. I’m sure of it.
