One Day Holiday... Adventures with Geoff goes to Devon
มุมมอง 6K3 หลายเดือนก่อน
We took a day out to enjoy some sunshine in Devon in the Volvo #adventure #hoiliday #vlog #family Oh, also... The tent is from Argos, it's a 'Pro Action 6 Person 3 Room Tunnel Camping Tent' and I rate it for short trips, but not much living space for longer trips. Same tent I used for Le Mans with Lee, and it survived bad weather really well...!
The Camping Bike Trailer Part 3 - Wanna see the finished item?!

In this part 3 video we see the finished item! (well, finished before powder coating and then touching up the trailer), but this is the sort of finished thing... beautifully welded and almost ready. Plus some chat about skateboarding, losing weight, Phil's new exercise program and George Ezra/s Lager Tops or Larger Tops. Oh, and throwing paint at children. In this part 2 video we sort of make some progress, then we don't, then we do, then we cut some metal, and grind some things and then the video ends. Of course there's quite a lot of idle chat too, about the state of the world and things, but if we didn't have the Part 2 video then we can't have a Part 3 video, so join us for a journey as we try to work out how to do the thing we are trying to ...

Bought the Cinch pop up 4 person tent a few years ago, the best tent I have ever owned. Pops up in seconds, peg it down that’s it! Folds down in less than a minute, and you don’t need to take out a bank loan to buy one!
Get an older campervan and do it up.
Don’t leave shoes on the ground, foxes steal them. And gloves
I always wondered what the point of those things were over a regular tent.
Cost to consider but i think it is a great bit of kit. You could create a hawning where you tried to sit. May be feed back to the lovely couple to get thinking about it. 😊 Necessity being the mother of invention/adaptation and all that😅
Always thought about one of these or something similar but but at 2K I think I'll give it a miss
Have that on the roof of an EV ...YOU COULD END UP BEING THE TOPPING ON THE TOAST.....THE GRAVY ON THE ROAST
Decathlon pop up tent £30
I'd sooner put the back seats down and sleep in the Car - and save £2k
You’ve got to fold it down every time you go out for the day and after a few bevvies you wake up needing a pre in the night and fall down the ladder. Hmm …… no thanks.
Well reviewed straight to the point Geoff....
I gather getting up in the middle of the night for the toilet is very inconvenient? You cannot drive away from the tent as it is still attached. I would consider that this still has the same issues folding it up when wet or in the wet which isn't going to be ideal either. Seems like an idea, but not well thought out.
These are stupidly over priced if it was on the ground with a ground sheet like a normal tent £500 tops so your paying near £1,500 for a couple of bits of wood or plastic and a ladder
Hummnnn maybe a bit over simplistic possibly. I have a Tentbox 2.0 and it’s fantastic. Really good solid build quality. Packs down easily and you’re not at the mercy of the weather conditions with soggy groundsheets. Horses for courses I suppose, but looking forward to taking mine over to the continent next year.
@MultiBikerboy1 they were a good idea for adventures who camped in places you really didn't want to be on the ground. I'm not saying they're no good just not that price good but people are often reassured by high Price's
@@p24hrsmithsure…the model they bought out last year had loads of good upgrades. I bought one because of the price of a camper vans. I take mine off the bars in the winter and stick it in a spare room. No tax no insurance no MOT.
A sound fair review to me, said the product itself was very good, but from a practical point of view, much better options.
I think it's a good one night option, as an alternative to a dayvan or wild camping. It could work for my needs but its pricey.
Your review was exactly what I was expecting. Trailer tents don’t work for a weekend either, loads of time spent putting it up and packing away and you need that space at home to dry it. My suggestion is a quality bell tent that you can put a log burner in. They take 20 minutes to put up and have loads of space, with the bonus of year round camping.
Seen loads of these around but given most cars have about 100kg roof rack limit wondered if they are damaging the roof and mounting points
Not damaging anything . No problems with 2 cars
Looks cosy as you say Geoff 👍🏼😊. One point though, what do you do with it if you want to go out for the day in the car? 😚🤔
I think the tents that attach to the tailgate is a better option as it removes the ladder hassle but a camper van is the best option All round especially for a young family who needs to get up and go quickly, as farcas being safe frkm predators on the roof I doubt it as Predators have laser weapons and can climb trees.
It seems it would only make sense if you were on the move every day touring. For a family that intends staying in one/two locations a trailer tent seems like the way to go.
Get a good deal on a second hand LWB van and convert it. From a motorhome dweller!!
Tentbox on 4x4s are great as they have a huge area and awning etc... But even then they are a pain...The trouble is they are no good for a multistay at a place unless you don't want to drive after you get there.. Not bad for a single nigh in an area where there is just enough room too park or the ground is so wet Noah is lining animals up. But beyond that they become a hindrance..
Buy yourself a campervan!
If you chuck all your bags and stuff in the front then fold down the back seats of the Volvo you wouldn’t have much less space than the tent provides ( admittedly works best if there was only 2 of you)
Mat Armstrong liked his.
Black Ferrari tent.
Fair thinking... thanks!👍👍
Don't fancy the ladder, if you've had a few, especially in middle of night going to remote location to download. Hehe.
Top point. A porchway is a must for me with a tent. Mine is a 4 man, with a porch, brand new (clearance) for £60 and it's mint, packs away quick and small.
Ohh look, a Citroen.
Well done for giving it a go. Seems like a novelty with limited real world use. (I bet it was a hoot getting Mrs Geoff in and out of it) Haha
And if you need to go shopping for food, you have to de-tent, so not really suitable for several days?
There are Hotel rooms to hire now, Geoff.
Well done Geoff, for not taking the shilling.🪙
£500 Tent, £100 Fuel, £60 Hat because you left the last one in a car you sold, £80 Pitch Fee, £1260 to spend on a 'New' Volvo..................Priceless!!
Could have just slept in the back of the Volvo...
It would be next to impossible to get into or out of a diver's wet or dry-suit in it. And remember - big cats can climb ladders!
Now all you need while “roughing” it in the wild’s is an solar powered electric fence to keep the wild animals at bay! I.E. Chipmunks,Squirrel’s, and rabid Foxes!🤣 I forgot about the Big Cats……🤷♂️
Couldnt agree more, had trailer tents from basic to luxurious and had a brilliant time in them for years
My son your age lives in NZ, he just bought a 33yr old Toyota Surf. An absolute gem with all its TLC & history receipts etc. They all rave about having a roof tent on their Utes out there, I shall send him this vid see what he says. They all love to be able to drive along the beaches to the best surf/fishing spots to camp & cook out 🌙🔥🍻🛻🎣🏝️🏄🏽
Damn, I see these and think "tent box wanker'. But they actually look good.
😂😂 snap 😂😂
Brilliant bit of kit. Le Mans, here I come!🚗🏎⛺️❤️
I tried surfing once in New Jersey. OMG it is not easy. I couldn't even stand up for more than a few seconds. Took me a while to even get to that point. lol it is fun though and looks like you guys had a great time. Where is this lovely beach in the UK with that massive headland in the distance? The land near the beaches in New Jersey is mostly flat. Great video though!
The xl is huge, iv got the classic feels slightly coffin like
Obviously you have never been attacked by a pack of demented Squirrels from the New Forest, it's utter nuts mate.
Looking forward to the daisy dukes going up those ladders Geoff. Towards the end they did forget to use the extra tie down straps on the nearside corners but looks a good piece of kit for short stays.
Why not link the rental company in Geoff? They seem nice bunch.
Will most cars safely hold the weight of 2 adults on the roof. ??
Living in Cornwall ive seen hundreds of these things, seems like a brilliant idea and am considering one for a European road trip to see my family, but it does look like it will couse a lot of drag especially on a autobahn stormer
I go Cornwell in mine usually watergate Bay only problem is its always bloody windy
If the cars a rocking.....
