My life is full of projects. Too Many Projects. I try to keep track of some of them to share here. Hopefully it will motivate me a little to get some of them finished!
Motorcycles, home improvements, bicycles, electronics might all come up.

Restoring a No. 3 Record Vice
Time to get the vice out in the new garage. But there's no point in not over-doing it a bit.

Wiring up the heated grips and USB charger on a Honda CB250 Nighthawk

After fitting the heated grips in the last episode, they have predictably drained the battery overnight while off. So it's time to fit proper wiring and hopefully do a reasonable job.

After doing some basic maintenence on the engine in the last video, I've set about with the clutches to try and make the operation of the mower a bit less random. Warning: I hadn't planned on that sock choice making it onto the camera. Sorry in advance. #webconferencelyf I put a copy of the manual here by the way if anyone needs it: bit.ly/3l18pCB

Would you mind sharing that user manual with us
Sorry I don't have a digital version I'm afraid.
If I didn’t found your video i'll be still doing timing settings with lots of cursing 😅 Thanks mate 🙌🏽 Subscribed
Can you please tell me what rims and wheels those are?
I don't know I'm afraid, they're just stock.
Thank you, very helpful to me
Good tutorial.. I have one of these in my shed which I must get round to sorting, probably one of the best mowers ever made..! Where did you get your parts from please?
Thanks! Since this video mine is once again broken. Will do another soon. So parts of eBay. Lots of options.
No spark in my Suffolk colt lawnmower
Have you checked the coil and lead?
Hello. I have the same lawnmower, but unfortunately I don't have a grass basket, how can I get one😢
Have a look on eBay I guess?
I will try that boiling the carb, looks great afterwards

Bloody good video, very helpful
Hi I’ve just inherited one of these where do you get the parts from for the carb can’t find them anywhere.
eBay.
The greatest danger of those spinning powertools is a bit of fabric on your body getting wound into the spinning bit, which quickly and violently pulls you in and does great damage. No gloves or sleeves or loose clothing near spinning powertools.
Good Job
Great series and super helpful info. Just tried this for myself using your method and it’s worked a treat. Thanks so much and keep them coming! 👍🏼
Fantastic! Glad it helped.
If you convert just one side for polishing while leaving the other side for grinding, is that likely to introduce severe imbalance and vibrations?
I should think it'd be fine, you don't want metal shavings on the polishing tools though.
@@TooManyProjects Good point, thanks!
RANSOMES made a electric battery mower back in the 70s.
Hi, Mums bought a cd200 benley which isn't running well. Waiting for carb rebuild kit. Should the bowl drain screw be fully in? It seems to restrict the fuel in pipe.
The drain screw? Yes definitely. You don't want to be draining the bowl while you're trying to run it. It restricts fuel in the pipe that leads to the floor.
@@TooManyProjects Thanks, i know it seems like a odd question. I'm new to carbs and wasn't sure if it was some kind of secondary fuel cut off. The fuel inlet looks bent and inside like it been soldered/welded. Hopefully the rebuild kit will help.
Good morning. I need assistance please. I have a Dual Drive Suffolk Power Punch 17". I need to replace the clutch plates. On a manual I have found, the part number is L.5319, but my number is L.5318. I do not not know what to do now.
I couldn't tell you the answer I'm afraid. 5318 and 5319 sound like they might be similar though? Can you still get both? Maybe 5319 is an updated replacement for 5318. If you can still get both, maybe buy both and return one when you can see them in the flesh?
Wish I know where to buy it??
@@wicuserasmus2925 eBay?
I have the same bike, and am looking to do the same thing. Genuinely this series has been delightful, Thank you so much for posting your process here! I know it's been a while, but where did you find the 3 fuse single relay block? Digikey, Amazon, and Mauser have all turned up empty. Any advice?
I feel like I found it on eBay, but now I re-visit, two of my favourite retailers for this sort of thing have something exactly the same: www.12voltplanet.co.uk/combined-relay-socket-blade-fuse-holder-4-and-5-terminal-relays.html www.carbuilder.com/uk/3-fuse-and-relay-holder
Great for kitchen knives?
I personally wouldn't really worry about my kitchen knives being shiny. Only that they are sharp. And this is not a good way to sharpen them. But certainly if you want shiny kitchen knives, I'm sure this would work great.
Hi, my mum has got one of these which i would like to work on. Are all those tappets 0.05mm?
It's a really nice little engine to work on. Yes, 0.05mm for inlet and exhaust valve clearance. Same on CD/CM 185, 200 & CM250C in case anyone else needs to know.
Is that an original black and decker workmate eye spy
Great spot. It's fantastic. Although I think technically a second or third iteration.
Indeed it is quit addicting. I recently converted a grinder over to do a bit of polishing, like you have done and it wasnt long before I was hunting around the shop for things that "needed" polished. Bang up job my friend!
Thanks! There's no reason anything in the workshop shouldn't be shiny.
Hi thank you this was very helpful. What carb heater cable did you buy and where from? I understand it was from a quad bike. I was wondering what one. Thanks
Oooh, it was a lucky guess really. I had another quick Google now and a 2004 Fourtrax TRX looks like the one I got. I have a feeling Honda might have only ever made one carb heater part. No promises.
Thank you !!
Very helpful video! I'm looking to clean up some Chasseur Escoffier copper pots that I've had for years. Can you help me to choose the right compound and buffer? The short story is that I accidentally burnt one of the pots by putting on some water to boil a few eggs, then lay down on the sofa and fell asleep (of course!!)... Woke up the next day to find the pot still on the stove and completely black!! Thankfully the pot seems structurally OK-no warping! I've got a fair way in restoring it using Bar Keeper's Friend, a lot of elbow grease, and time. But there are still a lot of black fleck marks on it still and the copper has dulled a lot. I'm looking to purchase a bench polishing wheel to fix this one up.... and, of course, keep it to touch up the pots to a beautiful shine every year or two. If you have any suggestions on what combination of wheel and compound would most suit the job, I'd appreciate it if you could let me know!
I couldn't tell you I'm afraid. The copper pots I have are plated, so I'd be very careful not to go through it. Call metalpolishing.co.uk, they are very knowledgeable and sold me the kit in the video. I note they have also gone and embedded it in their website which is nice. Would have preferred a little thank you comment though.
Thanks For the Kind Words! Great job on the video breakdown, I love hearing Your perspective on this 🎉🎉
Thanks dude. Sorry I read iWrocker like iPod. I noticed you said it out loud in a video recently. Since you've commented, I'll do another. And I'll try and move away from copying you exactly. I promise.

Ha.
Cd 185s and 200s weren"t marketed as fast bikes but went like stink. They were faster than the cd250u.
I am skeptical about the stink part. Maybe one day I'll finally get it all back in one piece to find out.
@@TooManyProjects 1981, my cd185 pulled from 20 in top & zipped str8 up to 65mph, much to the unhappiness of Superdream owners who thought they were the bees' knees on their £800 bikes when cd185s cost just over £500. The later 233cc five gear version of that engine had the same pots but taller rods so they weren't as sweet and smooth and revvy. They also had brilliant 5 inch drums, as good as disc but maintenance- free other than replacing the cable every couple of years. The 185 was kick only, the cd200 kick and electric til A reg 83 when they went 12v and cdi and deleted the kick. All versions had enclosed chain and suspension units. Tyres fatter than 300-17 raise the gearing a bit which is good but they're a swine to fit by hand. Yes, I was an enclopedia on these bikes back in't day. The ethos was passed onto to cb450dx which was much softer tuned than the 400 superdream. I had two of those too. The 250 nighthawk is complete poo, really slow. They sold like cold cakes cuz the gn250 had more chrome and was much cheaper. Sorry to bore you. Feel free to throw a sack over me, you wouldn't be the 1st.
Put some light on 30 dark
Good film , just got one of these and am going through the belt change, very informative thanks
How many mpg do you get. Thanks
5.2 l/100km average. As low as 4 when touring with a lot of tarmac. So that's like 54 UK mpg or 45 US mpg.
@toomanyprodjects I have a suffolk engine but the carby doesn't have a bowl on it do you know anywhere i can get one for that carby
Hi, Have you gotten any further on the CD200? I own one myself and I was hoping to see how you set the carb up.
the thing in the bottom of the carb that you dont know its an accelerator pump. when you open throttle, a part that act on the butterfly will also push a lever that push a membrane under a spring that will push extra fuel into the carb to enrish when you are accelerating... its just a clever trick to enrich when accelerating. :)
Be careful with the back and side cowlings. Mine is snapped near the back, and I've seen another with the same issue.
Yes, should have 2 throttle cables 👍. Great video, thanks for Sydney.
Hi - I hope you get inspiration to carry on :-D We live in a similar home with 'too many projects' going on all at once - i would admit its fair to say i am jack of all trades and master of none lol. We have a CD200 and 750 nighthawk interestingly 😅 My cd200 has been with us about 2 years and is an ongoing project - your videos have encouarged me to pick it back up from time to time when ive lost motivation - i think i watched the carb video 10 times before giving in and getting a cheap Chinese new one which worked straight away 😂. Thanks for the work and look forward to you picking this up again All the best
Thanks! Amazing, what are the odds.
This is a brilliant explanation video. I had a problem with the blades continuously spinning at idle speed and your video was a real problem solver. One of the centrifugal clutch assemblies was sticking in the engaged mode, almost seized. Must say it took a bit of freeing off but I got there. Now it's better than ever. Wouldn't have known how to diagnose this without your video. Thank you.
You're welcome.
I have my self - you said it was too loud. It looked like VPR wasn't turned on? I use the VPR button myself - it cuts off 50% of the output volume. And when that is turned on, it is quite easy to have and play with in your house. Thanks for the video. No im not so afraid to adjust bias and changing tubes myself.
This video and part one are epic,, I just bought a ‘97 from the local tow yard for my girlfriend as a first bike,, thank you so much for showing around the bike and typical faults! This is going to save me so much time (as long as the engine isn’t locked up I suppose)
did you measure the weight of pistons with the rings and piston pin
I did not. Should I have? I know I should have measured the gap.
Im note sure you deserve that bike😑
Cheers for this. Got to clean the carb on an old Super Colt I just acquired and this'll be a great help. Don't really know my way around an engine but reckon I should be able to get it done.
Nothing to it. The manual is in one of the descriptions and it helps a lot.
My bike is this noise and the faul is valve open mixture second carburator
How much turn screw fuel mix ???? Original manual !!!!! And nivel floating fuel valve mm??????
Where did you find idle jet? Can you please copy the link?
Nrp-Carbs.co.uk but I had to call and they found the right one. It wasn't clear on the website.
I'm somehow reminded of cat weazel and the power of electrickery
Hi there where did you get the carb manifold gasket
It was just a carb service kit off eBay. If you ever have any trouble finding carb spares though, I recommend calling NRP Carbs. They're very knowledgeable.
@@TooManyProjects thank you for the reply. I've been having trouble with my nighthawk. Will run fine but as soon as you ride it it won't go over 50 . It's a bit of a nightmare 😕
@@steveandfamily7248 Does it idle ok? When we picked Claira's up, we had that problem. It was running on one cyclinder.
@@TooManyProjects yes idles fine but when you ride it it doesn't rev out and won't go over 50

I don't think I have any advice without more information Harry. Is a gasket letting-by?
