95 - Catfishing, High Value Dating, and Spilling The Tea With Kamie Crawford
Joining Sabrina today is Kamie Crawford, diving deep into relationships, touching on dating dynamics, attachment styles, and red flags. Kamie reflects on her anxious attachment stemming from an absent parent and how therapy has helped her move towards a secure attachment. Sabrina and Kamie agree that while disagreements are natural, constant arguing in relationships isn't healthy. Kamie, who dates someone with a child, emphasizes respecting the child and communicating openly with both parents. The two discuss the importance of taking things slow, not rushing into relationships, and being mindful of red flags. In their 30s, both women now prioritize meaningful qualities in partners over superficial traits they may have focused on in their 20s. They also touch on the growing confusion around gender roles in dating, where some men believe they are the prize, and how bad advice from people with no relationship experience can misguide. On the topic of catfishing, they urge caution online, recommending looking into someone before meeting them, especially if they’re new. Ultimately, they stress the importance of investing in yourself, setting healthy boundaries, and choosing partners who genuinely align with your values rather than succumbing to societal pressures or superficial expectations.

Me and my husband have all 3 of these and I couldn't be more grateful ❤ Me and my ex? It was so unsafe that I had simmering anxiety 24/7 that spiked into terror when he'd rage. I couldn't talk to him about ANYTHING. Even if I tried to start a conversation about why the sky is blue....he'd turn it into a fight 😢 I'm either in a healthy relationship or I'm not IN a relationship.

Followed you for a while but just started listening to your podcasts yesterday with Kamie and it CHANGED my mindset like an instant 360 change. OMG I started to suddenly unlearn everything about dating, life, relationship and I unfollow all those content creators you mean because what they're teaching it's just really a limiting belief or as what you said black and white thinking which is so unreal and unrealistic leaving no room for people to be themselves

Your comment about coming out of a 20 year marriage made me giggle. As I write this I'm going through a divorce and it would be 20 years married this month. I don't plan on using dating apps though. I have already organically met at least 2-3 people that I am "friends" with during this time and will potentially date them. In the meantime I've been working on myself a lot over the past 1-2 years and I'm well into my healing process, thankfully. I've been following your channels for months and love so much of your content. Thanks for all you do and all the awesome guests as well. Funny enough, when I started a couple of new social medias accounts 1-2 months ago, I already had about t 4-5 "guys" messaging me and I knew immediately that it wasn't "real"...with a little common sense it wasn't hard to tell that catfishing was already trying to pop up.

I dated someone who was disorganized and also bipolar…it was a roller coaster but he’s still a good person. I understand how his chaotic childhood lead to him being that way. Anyway who is disorganized, we see you, we know it’s hard to heal your wounds. Sending love to all of you ❤

I really needed this video. I am STRUGGLING. I am trying to heal but feel like every week I'm set back to zero and have to start over and I'm not actually making progress. It helps to know that healing is not meant to make the feelings go away but make it so that I can handle them as they arise. I have been under the impression this whole time that once I'm "healed" I won't feel this way ever again and I'll be at peace with no pain or sadness or whatever negative emotion has me in a chokehold that day. It helps so much to know that this is not how it works and actually, in that knowledge, I can see that I am doing a really good job at working on those aspects of myself that needed to change and that are actually healing.

Going no-contact with my father, a malignant narcissist, was one of the best decisions I ever made. I remember being 20 years old, sitting in the car, and being slapped across the face by him simply because I hadn’t yet bought a gift for my cousin’s wedding. People like this are so deeply wounded that they can turn your life into a living nightmare. But as adults, we hold the power to step away from those who are incapable of treating us with the respect and care we deserve. Narcissists will never take accountability-they act like toxic viruses in our lives. While I can have compassion for the person they lost to their own generational trauma, it’s essential to set firm boundaries to protect your well-being. Anyone who has survived a narcissistic childhood deserves to live a life beyond their wildest dreams. Healing is a journey, and every step is worth it. I’ve come to realize there’s no value in keeping people like this around unless they’re tied to others who are truly important in your life
