Nice gameplay. Will you also play disc 2? That's the best part of Nexus IMO.
@@Ag-Stone All I needed to hear was you guys asking, so yes! I will be recording me playing the second disk 😁
The mission cinematics are so good with your commentary ah ah I would have loved to see your reaction on the opening of Nexus ! I saw your answer to another comment on why it was cut tho ; it was a good reason. The arena works as missions in this game. I like it this way, but I'm sure you would rather have a good old arena.
@@CK1000997 Yeah I'm just way too used to the old Arena style. I DO like how rankings shift around though, feels more immersive. The rest of how it's structured though ehhhhhhh 😄
Fun fact: Genobee is replaced as Molycoddle in Last Raven. Both use the same setup and are OP-I, but Molycoddle's style is optimized than Genobee's. Edit: also when you get to Last Raven, good Luck on getting what we "OG Ravens " called the best ending. 👌 Also, to "challenge" the others, you gotta progress as well as beat the game.
@@alexanderminas28 That's pretty interesting! I'm soooooo ready for Last Raven lol.
@thryfe are you gonna upload your playthrough of the revolution disc? Because you should totally upload your playthrough of the revolution disc ❤
@@TheSillyDragonfly I am now 😄
Another game, another round of wiki diving for me, woo! It's actually hilarious just how easy they made the first couple of missions in this game. That very first one, for example. Literally just 4 MTs that go down in like half a dozen starter rifle shots each, set up to be knocked down one-by-one shooting gallery style. The devs put a safeguard in place in case you somehow manage to full on *fail* this mission, letting you take on the survivors from your first attack again with effectively no global time loss. Better yet, should you somehow end up getting badly damaged by those MTs again in the rerun, another AC swoops in and completes the mission for you, saving you in the process. But yeah, loving how cinematic they made this game with cutscenes for basically every single mission, regardless of importance. Didn't really expect the step from early third gen to late third gen to be that distinct outside of the separate lists of parts, when going from Silent Line to Nexus, but it's a welcome addition all the way. Also loving Nightshade. Neutral main color with something vibrant accenting it is always my go-to and pairing black/grey with light blue like this leads to one of my favorite color combinations. Don't know where I saw it first, but if you ever wind up recreating this AC in AC6, you might want to give making the blue bits super metallic a spin. That in contrast to the relatively more matte, neutral colored main armor parts should end up looking pretty cool. As for the arena, this game is being a bit mean with it, because it's apparently based on the mission points system and arena fights will pop up on the world map right alongside your other missions. This presumably also means that the global time will be advanced by taking those fights, potentially locking you out of other missions. Take it with a grain of salt, because I got this information secondhand from a review, while the wiki has literally no information on the system as far as I can tell.
@@remor698 I still like that you do this. 😁 I actually JUST learned that about the first mission a little bit after uploading this. I think Jack-O shows up which would have been sick! The mission cinematics were a surprise and a welcome change for sure. That's true for the arena, I ended up searching for info on it and confirmed it the very next time I played. I'm a few parts ahead on these videos already. Just need to edit them up. I'm pretty happy with how Nightshade came out 😁. I was going for a minty contrast. On my T.V it's more on the green side but I guess it leans more blue on here. Still looks cool though and I'm glad you like it. I am definitely making the green/blue more metallic in the AC6 version lol.
Are you doing disc 2 as well?
@@Gearsy I is!
I remember my mind being blown so hard with this game. With the second disk throwbacks too cus I have a special place in my heart for the PS1 AC games. This is the first one that really forces you to play well to advance. Playing twinstick is rough but if you got a controller with back pedal buttons, super recommend setting circle button on one and playing old-school controls. Can still do dual welding guns just much easier. Stoked to see you playing older AC games man! There's not enough older ac content 🙏🏾🩵🩵🩵
@@avryduckworth5213 Yeah I've heard the second disc is the best part. I love finally revisiting the games I missed. Makes me wish I kept up with them after AC3

The Arena is only available after finishing the game, i mean, the full arena were you can fight the AC you want
@@AngelSalas-g6g I ended up looking up how it works after I finished recording this. Didn't know at the time full arena unlocked post game, I was pretty happy to discover that.
As a fellow AC veteran, I was surprised at how sick I was to see/hear you swap to the classic controls, haha! I'm also one of the weirdos that love Nexus and it's heat mechanics! It's still my favorite AC game today!
@@E.G.1005 I couldn't give up the skills I'd worked so hard to obtain. 😄 That and it just didn't feel like a ps2 armored core without that l2 r2 camera lmao.
Nexus and last raven arent my favorites, but to be fair, following up on 3 and silent line is a hard act to follow. they aren’t bad though. They both have an insane amount of parts for customization. And if we all bein honest, Thats why we play armored core
@@mickeyspeer5670 Silent Line was sooooooo good. I'm wicked optimistic about Last Raven. Customization is essential in this series for sure lol.
It looks a lot easier, but so far it's mostly been MT-slaughtering and bullying a random AC. Knowing Fromsoft I bet the difficulty is really gonna spike soon
@@stubb3dto338 That's usually how it goes lol!
Despite its problems Nexus is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
@@LeitadaRala I agree
You got to use the energy Exceeding Orbit cores man, but I know you like Overboosting.
I was hesitant to use them because of heat draining my generator now.
bitches love my demon blade
Bro, the music slaps! Ugh im in love already!
And you got my favorite legs out of the entire series! ❤
Yeah OST for this game is fantastic. Those legs are coolest biped legs by a LONG shot imo. Hopefully we get something similar in the future.
@@Thryfe Genobee is my jam. I always pronounced it "Gen-no-bee". Curious how the crowd reacts on that one, but he's always had a place in my heart. I hope you enjoy your playthrough, I'll be watching!
Last Raven was the one that really made you learn to play. Certain arena and EX arena opponents FORCED you to git gud. With Genobe in the intro, you gotta do him first...a subtle homage to Zhaizo 😉 I didn't mind the heat mechanic, personally. I think it added another subtle way to balance parts, and made it so that your generator/radiator/booster pick was a trio that had to work together.
Genobee or Evangel for the 1st re-creation. I'm still trying to decide lol. The only thing about the heat that I don't like is that it drains your generator lol.
@@Thryfe the 3 main things you need to keep an eye on is: - the boosters booster heat - the radiator's cooling - the generator's calorific value. Those stats mean alot more in Nexus to Last Raven. They all contribute to heat gain. And some of the best parts are on the 2nd disc.. Good Luck!
Yoooo so hyped! I hope you really enjoy it!
Oh yeah, don't forget to play the second disc missions and find all the secret parts there to bring the save to Last Raven. That game does NOT fuck around and basically expects you to have an imported save kinda like Silent Line did after 3. and yeah about the Arena... there's no arena. you'll get a few fights mixed in with your regular missions randomly through the campaign.
I heard that about Last Raven. It makes me want to go into it with a clean file lmao. I'm too much of fan of difficulty in video games to let that challenge pass me by 😂. Just like Silent Line, I'm sure I'll curse myself at some point for doing it lol!
@@Thryfe trust me, even WITH an imported save, it'll still be hard lol.
You can challenge them optionally once you beat the game. *HOWEVER* , if you want to challenge Genobee, you will have to fail the mission, "Eliminate Crest AC", the 3rd to the last mission. Successfully completing that mission results in defeating him and he won't appear in the free arena.
oooh here it is. glad you pick this one. it's a good game. I'm about to do a Nexus playthrough at my other channel, Mee Iru Dayo. I already finish the game but I'm gonna do a fresh start and probably doing a quad leg run.
yeah about the arena, it's mission based at first. you need to finish the first playthrough so you can unlock the arena and free mission.
Yeah I figured out the arena thing right after recording. Went and looked it up. Pretty surprised they went that route lol. I'm definitely doing another Nexus playthrough after this.
I know that you're gonna do Ninebreaker at some point, but are you going to play Formula Fromt? That game to me is the MOST underrated entry into the series period. It also has one of my favorite little subtypes in mecha design (though only in the art for it) which is Mecha with Liveries, like a race car. The only thing period that I can think of that does the same is the anime IGPX.
Formula Front is PsP right? I think I still have my old PsP somewhere.
@@ThryfeThere's also a PS2 version but it's Japan-exclusive.
sweet
I enjoyed playing through this game, but it was really really unbalanced for the worst. Last Raven (actually Ninebreaker) reverted back or toned down a bunch of the changes, but "compensated" for it by making the difficulty absolutely bullshit where everyone is cheating against you. Still, both are fun games, even if the balance is all over the place, and the last and most advanced entries of old gen AC.
I started to see the game's flaws pretty early but there's still something about it that makes me have fun with it. It's got charm and still feels nice. I like it.
I enjoyed Nexus for what it was, but the booster heat was a bit too much for my taste which is why the second time I went to tried Nexus I just went pure tank and had a much more enjoyable experience. Curious to see where you end up at the end. Also, for the arena it will be a mission.
Ah that makes sense. I went into expecting heat issues so I built accordingly lol. I like to overboost.
Might be divisive in the AC community but it damn sure was great as my first Armored Core experience and kind of a prologue into the direction FROM would take with Last Ravens gameplay.
My first impressions of it were good. I can see WHY some people don't like it though.
Yeah I appreciate Nexus but now I prefer the gameplay in the other 2nd/3rd gen games. As you'll see with Last Raven, FROM wanted to make significant changes in the next game. Personally not a fan of making the game harder by nerfing the player, I prefer my AC games to have OP-INTENSIFY in them lol.
Brrooooo where do i get a job just hopping around in circles for 96k like thats life changing yo lol love these series man i kinda wanna submit a build to show case but dont think anything would be good lol i run mostly super lightweight tech builds
For real 😂 you make crazy money in this game. Nexus builds you mean?
I wished you added the intro for this game. That was goated as hell. 👌🏻Although some of the mechanics in this game are annoying as sht. 🤣 Hopefully you'll get through this and my most awaited Last Raven. Have fun bro!
I was worried the beginning of the video would be way too long if I included it, since 1st episodes tend to usually be long already. That intro IS crazy good though lol. I've been wanting to play Last Raven for years. It will be a good time.
@@Thryfe This was my 1st AC game in the PS2 era and when I found out that they continued the story in Last Raven, I was super hyped! Quick note on building, if you have extra credits to spend you can tune your ac parts accordingly. It is somewhere on the garage but it is a bit hidden. Also, when you get your hands on the gatling guns have fun dual welding them. 😁
@@MvsLkJggr I'm a couple parts ahead and I can say that the moment I discovered parts tuning I was blown away. Such a cool idea.
I agree one of the best intros next to 3 and anther age, maybe we will get lucky and we will get that intro if you make evangel teammate build ;)
Yo!!!!!!! Glad to see you finally made it! And, don't worry bro, I also never adopted the analog to aim - Old school controls were just way to ingrained in me, and I honestly feel like I was just a better pilot with the old controls anyway so I left them. But yeah you're past the Silent Line now, so a lot of the functions will feel different, good lucK! Also, just to answer your questions- Yes, Overboost now overheats you if you activate it while boosters are active- Yes, Projectile speed has been reduced Yes, Your AC has less traction and slides on the ground Yes, your laserblade no longer stuns enemies (Even the moonlight wont stun anymore) Yes, Blade tracking is no longer reliable Yes, reloading has been introduced and ... we'll it takes getting used to BUT, on the flip side, the one good thing we got is your EO can now hit the enemy, you should try an EO core, they are very nice now -
Yeah I couldn't be bothered to learn the new controls, I've got too much pride in the old skills I've refined over the years 🤣. The laser blade changes baffle me lol. I figured out the arena right after finishing recording too. Odd change.
Yeah, I stopped using blades when they no longer tracked haha, WAY too hard to land hits. They also took out howitzers cus goddamn they were op.
Are you going to touch ninebreaker or skip it like many others?
If most people dont care to play Ninebreaker, I think even less would tune in to watch a playthrough of someone playing Ninebreaker lol. Thryfe is amazing at making hype AC commentary, but Ninebreaker might push his abilities to their limits lol.
I'll play it eventually, not sure If I'll record it or not. We'll see.
Uh oh lol
@Thryfe it's no big deal if you skip it. Was just asking the question as it is the next game between nexus and last raven but for story it isn't really needed as ninebreaker is a training simulator at the end of the day
CHARIOT KAGOBUSTER
A man of culture. I myself am a sweet16 enjoyer and since using it have little interest in other weapons
The feeling of landing it point blank is hard to rival lol!
The one thing that bothers me about this tech is that it requires you to be in soft lock. Either you are maining soft lock which is much harder to use than hard lock, or youre switching quickly into soft lock each time you wanna try the tech, which just complicates the whole melee process significantly. Might be my brain just being too smol.
It definitely requires getting used to switching between locks but I personally found it isn't as hard as you might initially think. When I play normally, I'm in hard lock 90% of the time and I sometimes switch to soft lock briefly to help some shots land that I absolutely need to land. When I use this tech I treat it the same way and I was surprised by how quick I got it in an actual ranked match. A quick double tap on the stick returns me right back into the norm.
@@Thryfe Wonder if its gonna be as easy on mouse and keyboard. Since I am on PC.
9:21 This was Insane Wtf
The karasawa got that range 😂
I have quite similar build, except I replace the shoulder weapons with double triple laser cannon (sorry I forget the name, is it LCD or something). It's a fun build for PvP and PvE even though I am still learning to piloting it effectively
Those triple cannons are still the weapon I fear most. I never fully recovered being deleted by those earlier in the game's lifespan lmao.

My first four successes were the hard way, but I think that's because my brain is dumb.
Loved this AC in silent line, cool to see her wrecking shop in ac6. That wheel chair fight was NASTY! good fights bro!
Thanks man! It was a crazy one for sure lol.
@Thryfe hey, dunno how you feel about making a movement/strategy video, but I'm a AC veteran and still am less sure what kind of decisions I should be trying make mid fight in reaction to the opponent. I'm sure it's a tall order, but it would make me happy to learn how to play even better, maybe even face off with you someday! Much love brotha
@avryduckworth5213 I'll start rolling some ideas around in my head and see if I can come up with a decent tutorial on movement etc. 😁
this is fire, helped a lot honestly. Took me about 30 minutes to pull off. Now it's just building muscle memory. Interesting things that helped me: It was much more consistent for me to quick boost (either towards or away from the the target) then execute it. Idk why but if it works it works. Secondly, you can spin this thing manually and it's a massive angle. Really massive, I wouldn't be surprised to see this trick catch ACs behind you.
Yeah I find I do it more consistently while drifting to the right, probably just a comfort thing lol. I've caught some people with insanely wide sweeps, it's almost a full 360 lmao. Super cool tech.
I notice that too!
thank you for this dude! some explanations float about but i never understood it and i run coral stuff a lot cuz i think it looks awesome, will defo try the oscilator on a build now!
@@drakonna6281 Oh you're welcome 😁
