Enjoyed the video the museum looked very interesting
@@GilSandra-ri8cp Thank you, Gil and Sandra- from the outside it looks tiny, but it’s got so much cool old stuff, I love the Heraklion museum! Thank you for watching ☺️
We enjoyed today's video on Greece. We'll be cruising there this summer.
Nice! Enjoy your cruise. Glad you liked this episode :)
Thanks for taking us along. We were there last summer/fall. Your videos are better. But I’m not in any of them😊
You're welcome, Warren. One day, we need to cruise together so you both are in them, lol!
Sailed on her in the year 2000, And since.. Lovely Ship,, But my favourite at the time was the Oriana,, i believe it's now called Piano Land.... Lovely memories 😊....
Thank you for watching, Stuart, and making time to leave a comment. We never made it to Oriana, but you're right - she's Piano Land now. This was our first P&O (there is a Scandinavia Vlog series on our channel), and we loved this ship - making plans to try Arcadia, next.
Thank you for taking us on a tour through Time at Troy, it was truly amazing to see the different layers of settlements over time. Ephesus is on my bucket list places to visit but after seeing this, I feel the need to see it in person. I don't think you can't truly capture the experience of being there u till you've been there. Well done Bob and holly
Thank you, Arthur! I think it would be a dream for all the angles you could capture - and the lighting. You and the family would love it.
I remember the old cruise terminal at Istanbul (from 2013 - not that long ago). The new one is an amazing improvement. That year, we also saw whirling dervishes, performing in their own venue (a bus took us there). We weren't allowed to film - there were maybe twelve of them rotating in unison.
@@idl9ave419 the new terminal really is good. Best one I’ve seen.😌
I read the Iliad in school (a hundred years ago) - it was quite moving to see your footage of Troy. I don't think I'll ever get there myself but I get to see it through modern technology and your efforts. Liked your music choice for your footage on Kusadasi. I just got off the Queen Mary 2 - we'll have to agree to disagree on which line has the best afternoon tea. For overall elegance and sense of occasion, my vote is Cunard all the way, though I will admit that Seabourn served some delicious and unique goodies during its tea service. I'd put Viking after those two.
@@idl9ave419 I’m glad you enjoyed this episode, and especially Troy. After six Cruises on Seabourn, I just can’t recall being overwhelmed by a great tea service, but that’s OK as well. I guess we will have to go on Viking and Cunard again just to test 😆😚
Totally agree with the " Formal Night" policy. If it's published as so, then you either dress accordingly or eat in the buffet. It is a dying tradition unfortunately
Thanks for watching, Lynn. Like we said, I've no problem with folks not dressing formally, just not be an idiot going against ship policy.
Nice work as usual Bob. Thank you!
You;re very welcome, George! Glad you enjoyed it :)
Thanks Bob for showing us some of the ancient world 😊. Hope and Holly have a Happy New Year🎉
@@warrenwolf4690 thank you, Warren. You guys as well 😊
First
@@skqq3250 Thank you for watching. “First?“.
Hi , Thanks for sharing .. can you confirm if this is a suite ? Looks like a big balcony .. Thank you
@@markwandel5107 Hi Mark. This is not a suite. It is a “club balcony“ room. This is the grade of cabins between a standard balcony and the suites, which Cunard call “grills”.
Thank you Bob and Holly. I thoroughly enjoyed your insights into Viking cruising and the content of this video (as I do for all your postings). Many thanks again. Maryann from Melbourne
Glad you liked this, Mary Ann! Merry Christmas :)
I so looking forward to this cruise series. I'm totally blown away by the port in Istanbul. It's truly beautiful and a photographer dream place to shot. I think that shopping mall the bees knees of shopping malls.
Agree, Arthur. As 'cruise terminal' shopping goes, it's the best I've ever seen.
What a fantastic way to start your cruise with a day in Istanbul, visiting such beautiful places.
It really was an amazing few days there.
Thank you for the video. We've booked a trip on the Seabourn Sojourn for Christmas 2025 and are excited to compare it to our experiences on Regent Grandeur and Silversea Shadow, both of which were fantastic in their own ways.
You're very welcome, Sheila. In 64 cruises, we've only been on ultra-luxury ships 6 times, all with SB, so we'd like to try SS soon to also compare. Enjoy that Hawaii cruise!
Viking ships look really nice. I really like the "no kids" policy. Those dancers were amazing.
Hi Joan. Viking ships are very nice - a bit like living in IKEA; everrything very organized. Yes indeed - the Dervishes and the other dancers were amazing!
Thank you for this great video. Well recorded and edited. May I ask, what type of video camera were you using?
@@jaimeirizarry5987 Jaime, you are very welcome! This trip was filmed during Northern Lights, in February 2022, so at the time, it would have been an iPhone 12 or 13, and attached to a small gimbal (DGI Osmo 3) for extra stability. We have a great, friendly Facebook group if you’d like to join to talk travel. We are literally doing trivia today at 1 PM Pacific. Please see, if interested, the Facebook “group” link on our TH-cam homepage. Have a great cruise on Viking!
Loved the episode 2 for Istanbul and you descibed Viking correctly, not super exciting, butm do absolutely everyting right. I always love seeing the ship in your videos because it is so familiar. We will be doing our 7th Viking cruise this coming July in Iceland, Greenland and Canada; really looking forward to it.
Thank you, Lou. We (more Holly for certain) love Viking for exactly what it is - one knows the product won't change wholesale within a short amount of time, Enjoy Greenland!!
@@InnocentsAbroad We will for sure. Thanks.
Great video, Bob, as always. We were in Istanbul in September on our Oceania Vista cruise and it is a really busy and amazing place to visit. We had the same reaction to the Grand Bazaar, somewhat overwhelming, but, very interesting.
Thanks, Lou! TBH, I could do without the Grand Bazaar for more than an hour on a subsequent trip; it's just overwhelming a bit.
@@InnocentsAbroad Yes, we had the same reaction, spent about 20 minutes and then went outside until time to rejoin our group.
Great video. If I were to unplug one of bedside lamps what type of plug would I find? Thanks!
@@trbarton743 Thank you, Tom. Yikes- I never tried that, though being a British cruise line, it’s highly likely that it is the UK type. I literally just got off QV two days ago- shoot, could have checked for you there!
Great photography, always up to your high standards. We've been to Istanbul - covered some of the same ground, but never made it to the great Cistern, so nice to see footage of that. We were in Istanbul long enough ago that Hagia Sophia was still a museum - I was curious to see if it had changed - other than the head covering requirement, it didn't appear that it had. For example, the mosaics of Virgin Mary and infant Jesus (with his cross!) aren't covered or curtained off, as I thought they might be, now that the building is a mosque. (The Catholic clergy of 15th C. Cordoba weren't as ecumenically tolerant when they converted that city's mosque into a church.) Looking forward to the next videos in your series.
@@idl9ave419 Time is quite an interesting concept given how old Istanbul is. Strangely, I would’ve expected the head covering requirement to predict us by a very long time. I will say that, if some of the ladies, probably “western”, not unexpectedly - and fairly young, decided to take their headscarfs off after they gained entry to the Mosques, security or polite, but firm and reminding them to put it back on.
Great episode Bob & Holly! You must have visited really early, there wasn’t much of a crowd. I like the different filming angle from above. When I visited we were in the bottom and I was in awe. Actually got tears in my eyes. Very beautiful mosque. I also loved visiting the Grand Bazaar! My friend was overwhelmed with all the people and how they were trying to get you to visit their shop. But I loved it all 😅Trying to make a second trip 🤞🏼 Looking forward to this new series! Congrats on the channel growth 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
@@dimplestraveldiary8954 Thanks, Debbie! Most of the mosques we visited early, it was a great way to see things without too many people in the way. When you make your second trip I know you’re going to love it (this was our first time there)!
@ It looked so peaceful empty 😊and Thank you!
Your video and research were a lot better than mine. We were just there. Well done. Can’t wait for the next installment to see what we missed😊
@@warrenwolf4690Thanks, Warren!
Great shots!

@@travelwithjonnyandwill Oh yes..We’ve been to NI several times,as well as RoI- I’ll say that it’s easier to understand than back across the sea north of Hadrian’s wall 🏴 😂
Watching on catchup. Another super video as usual. Ironically we are currently watching the dramatization of 10 Rillington Place on Britbox over 3 episodes. Well worth a watch.
@@JohnWright-mk3nf Thank you, John. That lecture, and the Rillington case was really interesting, if rather creepy. We have BritBox, I will look for it when we get home… thanks for the tip!
What a wonderful two days. Did you do this on turnaround between cruises? Osborne House was stunning!
@@TheTrepidTraveler We did this between cruises with a week or so, coming from Rotterdam and before P&O.
Beautiful ship tour, Viking Jupiter is stunning. The background of Istanbul just added something extra 👏 My interest peaked when you mentioned Viking do the best afternoon teas at sea - I hope we get to see some of that in future episodes 😍
@@cruisefraterpoultons The Vlog series starts the second Friday in December, but I don’t believe we recorded the tea. However, it is most definitely in a previous Vlog series, and I think our “in search of northern lights” series definitely has that. Very glad you guys enjoyed the ship tour! As always, thank you for taking time to leave a comment 😊
@ Thanks Bob, looking forward to the new series. I’ll have a look for that Northern lights vlog and see if it’s there 👏 Have an amazing week ahead 😍
Looks like a nice ship
@@KenGoesCruising We like it 😊
Amazing ship and I love the decor of Viking ships, thanks !
Thanks! The ships are all relatively the same, so once you know your way around one, the rest of their ocean vessels are quite easy to navigate!
What a gorgeous ship. I haven't cruised Viking yet, but they're on my list - absolutely beautiful! Also, great tour, and hope you're both well!
Thank you, Fraser! I think you would love Viking, it’s very chill and organized, everything’s just so terribly efficient! We are well, yes - at the moment on the Danube - back in London Sunday night😘
Great ship tour . Well done can’t wait to see the rest of the series. Hope you had a happy Thanksgiving 🦃 😊
Thank you, Warren! We are doing quite well, we had a nice Thanksgiving on board a river cruise ship on the Danube 😊
Gorgeous video, Bob, I always feel so much at home looking at a Viking Ocean ship, they are just perfect. I first saw one of the planetariums on the Viking Orion when we did the Australia New Zealand cruise. It was so cool and we had about three different sessions there with an on board astromomer. Our next Viking cruise is this next summer and it is Iceland, Greenland and Canada.
@@loumello8813 Glad you liked it, Lou! I loved the lectures with the onboard lectures, especially having to do with space… we had two excellent ones on our cruise, and more as on that as the Vlog series comes out starting two weeks from now.
@@InnocentsAbroad Yes, the onboard lectures are usually very educational.
I love your channel, but I think a lot of people in the UK find Eurostar (especially the London-Paris route) a bit of a rip-off. Americans love the idea of travelling through the Channel Tunnel, but it’s no big deal for us Brits. 😊The prices, even in Standard class (it appears you travelled in either Plus or Select class), are much more expensive than other European trains. The food from the cafe/bar is pretty bad. The seating is cramped. However, it’s convenient, especially if you are travelling from/to central London or Paris. I checked the one-way fares for Wednesday 4 December 2024 on the 9.31am from London to Paris: £126 in Standard, £270 in Plus and £345 in Premier. By comparison, the lowest price fare from Paris to Marseille on the 9.38 TGV on the same day was 49 euros (and the TGV is a much nicer train!).
@@jmblondon8474 Thank you, JM- for a very thorough reply- every once in a while, others’ replies are out of context, but this is a refreshing bit of feedback. I agree, Eurostar is probably convenience over substance, and pricing. Love interest Europe trains which, do so to so much cruising, we’ve gotten away from a bit. Thanks for taking time to reply!
Nothing better than relishing the beginning of another vlog series from Bob and Holly. Excellent first episode. The music selection for the U boat tour was amazing. Your ability to match music to excursions is unbelievable. Thanks again for taking us along!
@@TheTrepidTraveler Thank you!! Good to see you again! You’re very welcome!
Fantastic video. Love ld seeing the Eurostar in action. Thanks for showing us 😊
You're welcome, Arthur!
Took the Chunnel to Paris right after it opened. Today it’s no big deal. Then, it was a special experience. Thank you for sharing.
That would have been very cool to go on it during the opening!
@@InnocentsAbroad I wasn't on the first train. Rather about six months after it started. Still an extraordinary experience getting from London to Paris.
Visited Rotterdam in 2017 - nice to see your footage of the train station. A question about the Eurostar - is there room to store a big suitcase - in the passenger cars? or in a baggage car?
@@idl9ave419 Glad you liked it! Eurostar do not operate baggage cars, but like most trains - there is room on luggage racks at the end of carriages. We had two large suitcases with us and there was room in the luggage rack.
Very interesting to see especially for Lindsey
@@KenGoesCruising I think it’s a very good alternative to flying!
Love the Eurostar service, very comfortable and quick and love St Pancras station, beautiful architecture, historic and modern sculptures. Rotterdam Central looks massive from outside- another great video 👏😍
Thanks! Rotterdam Centraal is massive - lots of transport options, and a great way to get around if there, especially from a cruise.
Good to know there are also busses and trams available from the station. do like this vlog since I am looking to book this. Goof to know the underwater part ia not that long.
Thre are a TON of transport options from Rotterdam Centraal! Glad you liked the tour.. and I think you'll be fine with the tunnel part - it's over quickly.
Hi. We took a TVG from Luxembourg to Paris. Great🚆
Love European trains!
What a great 2 days you had, we love visiting the Isle of Wight, it’s a much slower pace of life than the mainland with beautiful coastal & countryside scenery. Thanks for showing us around some new places we haven’t visited. Osbourne House is very grand but the donkeys definitely stole the show ❤
Too right, the Donkeys were lovely! I'd go back just for them :) Definately a slower pace of life - Glad you enjoyed this.
Loved Pachelbel.
Fascinating videos in an area I know nothing about. Sing it through your eyes is the next best thing to being there. As always, thank you for an outstanding job.
You're very welcome! We loved touring just that small part of the island. The donkeys, though - were the highlight for us!
Sorry for the late commenting on your video. I've been busy at work. Loved the donkey sanctuary but loved even better when the rolled in the dirt after your groomed them 🤣 Osborne castle.. simply stunning
@@arthurscruises9310 😂😂 it was heartwarming all around, but honestly, those little buggers couldn’t do that before we cleaned them? Glad you liked the video, Arthur. The next one will be two weeks from Friday, and is just a short 10 minutes. Our next series will start at the end of November or the very first Friday in December, still working on it.
