I don’t have to have the actual camcorder ??
Hello!! I can buy this drive and the adapter and convert my dvd-r mini from my old home videos (taken on a 2003-3 handheld camcorder ) allll of my daughter’s baby life is on these !! And I’ve been searching for somewhere that can do it. But it’s safe to do myself with the LG and the adapter. ?

Wait a minute, I also have the 6D and it has a N3 terminal and that intervalometer terminal is C3 port. They’re not the same port so how does it fit?
Bro, do you know how to make the Godox TT685-s II flash a slave.
Sorry but I don't have that flash model.
Thanks man for all of your efforts 🙏☺️
You're welcome!
My first birthday was recorded on mini dvd. I was so hype to finally able to see it!. But the disc was empty.
That's too bad. Do you know if the disc was finalized in the camcorder before checking if it had any footage?
@@erasertech16After talking to my parents. They confirm when my uncle first record. He used a new disc. And nobody rewrites or touch it. I know nothing else. Sadly my uncle passed away.
After I did more research. Look like I need a camcorder. What a pain in the ass.
Can any external dvd drive use to copy footage?
Not all DVD drives will read mini DVDs. It's hard to tell which ones do because they don't really mention it in their listings.
Do I need a disc drive? Can I use my camcorder as the drive? My computer recognizes the camcorder when I plug it in and I’m able to watch my footage. Just never tried ripping the Mini dvd
Yes you could do that if you have the right cables and port in your computer. Are you using a firewire cable to connect to the computer? You might be able to use Quicktime to directly record from the camcorder if that's the case. Most people don't have a computer with a firewire port so that's why I recommend ripping from the disc instead.
@@erasertech16 I just connect my camcorder to my laptop using a mini usb cable
well said! since 2014 i have been documenting events with sony ax33 and ax53 and hopefully will get the ax43 soon, since they are not made anymore, sadly...
That's pretty cool. I want to get the AF53 at some point!
should the process work with every external dvd-driver or exclusively with your's from the link? thx
It's hard to tell which models of writers work with mini DVDs since they don't really mention it in the product description. The only way to know is through product reviews.
Buying all of that shit is waste of time 😂
And money!
Got my for free
Nice!
@@erasertech16 it was probably free because it came without the film
Sony made hd dvd camcorders
I have a sony one but I don't think it's HD.
@erasertech16 yeah I have a few sony mini dvd camcorders a few take memory card and can record on em I've seen the hd ones on here
@@erasertech16 the sony hdr-ux1 is a sony hd dvd camcorder it's a hybrid
Really useful review. You answered all the questions I had about this product. I hate buying these sorts of things off Amazon without knowing what I’m getting beforehand. Thank you.
Me too. Glad it helped!
Is this one known for bad or leaky capacitors? Anyone know? 🤔
No, I don't believe so. The bad cap era seems to have ended in 1994-5, and this is a 1998 model. However, my 1998 Hi8 Handycam - Sony TR3200E - has a strangely jittery jogwheel, which makes settings changes a real pain. I don't think that's due to capacitors, but possibly something to look out for...
@@matthewbuick373 HAH! Same. Jittery jogwheeel. That's pretty reassuring. Thanks!
Yes, that jogwheel is jittery for sure. I forgot to mention that in the video.
My mom passed away at the end of August and I have found some discs of hers. When I try putting them in no files are found. Is this because they weren’t finalized on the camcorder? Can this be fixed? Please help, my mom is gone I cannot loose these memories too. 😢💔
Sorry about your mom :( Do you still have the original DVD camcorder? If you do, you can put the disc in it and see if you can play the videos in the camcorder. If you can then you probably just need to finalize the disc.
@@erasertech16 I’m not sure but I let my step dad know so we can both be on the lookout for the camera as we go through my mom’s stuff. I’m hoping we can find it!!!!
Thank you this was so helpful but on 4 of my discs when I load the disc into the LG slim dvd writer I get this message: HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GP60NB50 Media with the word Uninitialized below it so I can't open this source? Can you help with this
I'm not sure. But did you finalize the discs in the recorder already?
hello can you show us how to plug everything in when finalizing. i think im connecting things incorrectly bc it keeps saying connect to adapter
Try connecting the camcorder to the power when finalizing. I think the finalization process uses a lot of power so some camcorders require them to be plugged in.
@@erasertech16 do you mind making a short video on how to plug it up. please and thank you
Does anyone know if this player is VR compatible? In terms of using a DVD-RW and using VR mode instead of video…
My door is is like stuck and I’m afraid to pull it apart bc it might get stuck
64GB is way more than 4000 songs if you use MP3 format in 320kbps. My estimation is around 9-10k songs. I am an iPod guy, I have a library of 83GB and it’s 13.5k MP3 songs in 320kbps.
Yep, that's why I don't plan to use the SD card option.
the Panasonic HC-VX1 is a good alternative I still use my Sony DCR-PC100
Can you film it from behind, inside so we can see the double diffuser?
This video halped me out so much Thank You! Just curious do videos encode quicker if your using a dvd writer? I uploaded my videos using just the handycam and it took about thirty minutes.
I'm not sure how you can upload the videos using the handycam instead of the DVD writer but I assume it would be quicker with the writer.
Guess I should waited awhile before asking my question
I have an iPod touch with my music. Do you know if I can transfer the music from my iPod to this mp3 player?
I am not sure, but I guess you would first need to see if you can transfer the music from the iPod to a computer. I've never tried doing that though.
There’re are third party software on Mac/PC that could pull music from iPods. I use one called AnyTrans, that software could pull songs from old iPods, but it was very expensive, I own a bunch of iPods and other Apple products, so it was worth it to me.
I have an Vanja sd card reader. It did not work well at first then it quit, You should buy another brand this one is not dependable..
This is an older product and review. It's possible that the adapter has not been updated to be compatible with more current devices.
I bought the necessary externals in the link and am trying the minidiscs but the message keeps saying that they are empty. I have a choice to choose Ignore or OK. Asking for any help I can get. Thanks.
Did you finalize the disc in the camcorder already?
@@erasertech16 sorry I did and it worked. Thank you.!!!!
This worked perfectly! I am so happy to have my videos saved on my computer now. Thanks!
You're welcome. Glad it helped.
what is the model of that writer?
Model number is gp65nw60
I cannot thank you enough for this video! I have been trying for many years to transfer some old mini discs to my Mac and have never been able to find a way to do it. I purchased the DVD drive you recommended and watched the video and had the discs converted and saved to my Mac in no time. My precious memories are now saved! Finally! Brilliant! Thank you, thank you, thank you!! ❤
Glad I could help!
Hello!! I have been searching for years as well! I had a Sony handycam and all of my daughters baby everything is on those !!! It was a 2002-3 model I have the discs but not the camera and has no clue what to do!! Although I have no idea If we finalized each disc. 😩😩😩 bc we didn’t know that would be important at the time !! I’m hoping this will work! Last time I searched I was pretty much told I would need the actual camera and buy on eBay or somewhere to do it !!!
My favorite model thus far. Great review.
It is my favorite handycam in my collection too!
Not in Hss 🤔🧐
Nice video!...
I have 1! Does it use a battery?
The battery is in the film cartridge.
Since we're on the topic of vlogging cameras and what Sony's coming out with lately with the zv1 and zv1f, I tell you what's a great vlogging camera that's even lighter weight than the zv1 or the zv1f is the Canon cx405 handycam. It's very small very lightweight has excellent stabilization has a very wide angle lens and has a screen that flips out all over the place has an excellent built-in microphone and it's only about $229 us new. And by the way it's got a fantastic zoom to really pull things in close from far away. I think people need to take a serious look at the cx405 there's a reason why Sony's continues to sell it year after year it's one hell of a bargain for the money. And one more thing, the cx405 has better stabilization in active mode then that ax43 or 53 does with the internal gimbal 🎉🎉🎉
THANKS ;)
I bought one of these at the PX at Fort Lenordwood in December of 1987. I carried that thing everywhere from Panama to Alaska. Terrible reception unless you were practically right beside a television station. It was still better than nothing though. Still remember watching “Dirty Dancing” on it. Fun times.
what adapter cable do you need?
It's covered in the video. If your computer has only USB-c inputs you will need a USB-A adapter.
why did it save as document? and then I open it and its a bunch of random letters
Bro, just get a tablet 😭
Ain’t the same bro owning everything physically is way better
Bro just watch lol. I've come to learn
Thank you so much
You're welcome!
Great video - helped me so much! Thank ya
You're welcome!
This worked for me, but only 8 of the 16 chapters copied. I can view all 16 chapters in my camcorder so I know they are there and of good quality.
Try playing with the settings on Handbrake. Make sure all the chapters are selected for the export. Also try doing it again with the same settings. Handbrake can be a little glitchy sometimes. Good luck!
Why don't they make more consumer cameras anymore? All producers suddenly stopped at the same time
I think it's because consumers are now using their smartphones for videos. Manufacturers are focusing more on high end cameras that give you better quality than phones.
Night shot?
No nightshot in this one.
totally a boring thing....just wasting time, money, everything... who have no common sense, he would buy this product...if it was the product of 90's time then it is okey
It's not a boring thing nor is it wasting money people have their own interests.
it is okey with me :)
wtf lil cun ?
Learn how to speak English. You’re using the words all wrong. I think you meant these are awesome and totally worth $7
HDMI2AV only for widescreens
That's correct. That Digital to Analog converter won't let you use a 4:3 aspect ratio.
I had one of these in 1994 lol I thought I was just so cool
