I've had that happen to me like 24 times (I shoot expired film and expired disposable cameras like all the time because I like that expired film effect and it's really cheap because it's expired.)
every disposable camera I've ever taken apart (every single one of them I've ever used because it makes developing cheaper) has Alkaline batteries which are the kind of batteries that leak out of the bottom.
I've just done a review on an expired underwater camera.. it was very interesting!
I have one that expired in 2003 lol and the battery for the flash also leaked, great
That sucks! I didn't know the batteries from these cameras could leak.

Mine expired 20 years ago so I did get that faded look and obviously the battery leaked but mine is 12 years more expired lol.
Yeah pretty much every disposable camera I use expired so long ago the battery has almost always leaked everywhere or at least is beginning to.
