OVERWATCH 2 Disaster: What You Didn't Know
I want them to bring back all the things the first subnautica had. Like the Stasis Rifle for example.
I really hope subnautica 2 takes place on 4546b. I love learning about the creatures of this massive ecosystem
Great overview. I don't know how many times I've played through subnautica. A lot. I always build a base in a different biome. More of everything in the original is a recipe for success.
Underrated channel. Great video! Definitely deserves more subs
Why no GOTY??? Why????
i dont even like survival games but there is something about subnautica that is just right mabey its that it has an story idk but there is something there
Wrong. They've confirmed Subnautica 2 will NOT take place on 4546B
Subnautica is not a horror game. It is a game that envokes terror due to it playing on several fears that most people have, such as fear of the unknown. The developers didn't even want it to be scary, but it's just how people ended up taking it due to the multiple fears people have regarding underwater or vast emptiness, or darkness. So they leaned into it a bit more but it's still not a "horror" game
It's interesting to me that one of the greatest strengths of the original is the feeling of being alone and stranded, yet people desire coop multiplayer. I think it hurts the experience, and plan to play S2 alone.
I think it’s a nice option to have but absolutely alone is the play
I came back after getting a new ps5 and after playing the last of us and ghost of tsushima. I've had enough gay stuff in my games.
It's sounds is Amazing more the Time devs Plays with sound in my opinion.
Is Jack Yaps Canadian?
JackYaps is Australian JackYaps Head just looks Canadian
@ good to know, I thought you were Terrance from South Park, who is Canadian.
Amazing quality content man . Keep up the good work !! 👍
Iirc, they've said 2 wont be on 4546b
Correct! That’s my bad
I’m sorry but I need to disagree. If you don’t take care about placing exit beacons for the JellyShroom biome, then this beautiful zone becomes absolutely terrifying, especially as health, nourishment and hydration bars gradually empty themselves.
Depends on the player I guess
Tbh, I have yet to find a game of this type even close to subnautica. I tried a few and there's just something that Subnautica gets right. Balance of freedom to explore and survival elements. Hyped for sequel (I consider Below Zero a spinoff).
I absolutely love Subnautica but after the misguided snoozefest that was Below Zero, my hopes for Subnautica 2 are extremely low. Unknown Worlds captured lighting in a bottle with the help of early access feedback and you can see how awful the sequel turned out when they made it more in line with their own creative vision.
below zero is not a sequel, it's a spin off
Starfield is lasting pretty well, if you stick to TH-cam there is a massive hate on for it and Bethesda but when you actually talk to people in real life there really isn’t that much hate for it outside people who blindly listen to TH-camrs. Skyrim didn’t destroy their future games because half these people would not have tried their future games if not for playing Skyrim. The only thing that is a problem here is people having astronomical expectations that will never be filled colliding with an internet culture that wants to hate them regardless of the quality of their games.
I only cooked a bladderfish once because I already had enough water and a remaining bladderfish 😭💀
a cardinal sin all the same
I love Subnautica I love it so much my favorite game ever!!!
i know no matter what unknown worlds does it will be my favourite game
I'm worried that Subnautica 2 will focus too much in coop rather than... well, everything else. Something that you constantly remarked was how the first game gave players a sense of isolation and being alone - and they were driven by their own curiosity to uncover the narrative and the secrets 4546B hides beneath the shallows. Having a coop partner is not something that comes to mind when thinking about what made Subnautica one of the greatest survival games out there. The beautiful crafted world, the lore behind every little detail, the awsome sound design - Below Zero was never close to the first game. In short, great retrospective about Subnautica man! Cheers and keep it up with the good work!
Subnautica 3*
its subnautica 2 officially
@ What about below zero?
@@FierceCousin that was considered a spin off rather than Subnautica 2
Everybody already knows its a masterpiece and there are dozens of videos about that on YT, why make another one with the same statements? I'm not saying the video is bad, it's actually pretty good! But why? Xd
with the announcement of Subnautica 2 and it being much more mainstream there's gonna be a ton of people looking for info on the previous games (especially spoiler free) so this provides a more recent view of it
Subnautica 2 better have a very big map. Like 2X the size of Subnautica's map
It's confirmed to be bigger, idk how bigger
The second game will take place on a different planet, fyi.
Yep that was my bad
If VR isn't supported, it's only half the experience it can be. In the first part, VR was more or less broken on release but at least the foundation was there. Modders fixed all the issues but only quite while later, they even enabled VR for Below Zero that was not even released with VR support. Subnautica is definitely among the best VR experiences you can get. So I find it quite infuriating to not support VR right out of the box. Modders have also added new cool submarines, another thing the actual makers refused to do. It also seems tooling for editing the map makes good progress. So with all that still going on, the original won't go away anytime soon and they better deliver with a successor to not end up like KSP2.
Reaper leviathan's in VR are the most terrifying thing
@@JackYaps That's true but if you bump into whale sized sharks all the time every few minutes and can even rely on those being placed right above POIs and resources, it quickly gets annoying, especially in a pacifist game without any weapons. It's also ridicolous having to get out of your sub to get into a knife fight with a huge fish. So in my second playthough I set all Leviathans to passive and also set the music to silent because it trying to create a tense atmosphere or suddently interrupting the relaxing sounds of the sealife and the engines all the time got annyoing too a some point. I just noticed how nice it actually is when I saw your video. Yet for me it's just too much out of control. I still enjoy the game and in the second part they've tuned tuned hostility quite a lot down, so no more sharks bascially in the starting area so the player can focus much more on exploration and survivel. Which I found to be a good decision.
I didn't know anything about this game before I played it a few years ago. I didn't watch any videos like this one, and I am glad. Videos have too many spoilers by showing a bunch of things which are better discovering for yourself and gives a better experience.
Hi
These points you made were so spot-on and I almost felt like you read my mind on many of them! Reading my mind really was akin to reading the mind of the gamer experience as a whole, because these are thoughts we definitely share as Subnautica players who have played other games before, including other amazing games. I agree so much with the challenge and reward and power struggled being so perfectly balanced. It's so perfect. I don't think I'd change anything except when I want to be less stressed out, but this isn't an easy peasy game. We are supposed to feel the burn. It's done perfectly. Everything we have to do is possible but it feels like a huge risk...because it is. Yet even though every stage has its obstacles, every "power-up" moment is so rewarding. Building a Seamoth doesn't make us invincible or able to go everywhere, but it is so rewarding. The same goes for the Prawn Suit and the Cyclops. And it was even that way for the Seaglide. Then so many of the upgrades to these items really feel rewarding as well. But at no point are we completely comfortable. As a survival game, it keeps that struggle going and the pressure on in a way that few can do in gaming or any type of storytelling. I love how much the game respects the beauty, power, and terror of nature. Absolutely no one is above the struggle for survival in nature. At no point are we humored to believe we are top apex predators to never be challenged, especially in this new world. In case Reaper Leviathans thought they were apex predators, they found themselves preyed upon by Sea Dragon Leviathans (in the lore, anyway--in game they never beat Reapers, lol) and possibly by a fluke chance Ryley can kill a Reaper Leviathan, though it would be foolish to assume this makes the human the predator and the Reaper the prey. No one has it made. And Kharaa, smaller than everyone, could have been the one to win. It still could. Additionally, what keeps us humble if we pay enough attention is how even though Ryley survived due to extreme skill and hard work, he was also very lucky. Some crew members who didn't make it had messed up in a big way that contributed to their demise. But many of them did nothing wrong. They just didn't land in the Safe Shallows at the waterline with a functional pod and an operational synthesizer. They were just as dead as the people who were stupid, and that's just how nature is. It is what it is, and fairness isn't part of the equation. I could go on and on. It was so fleshed out and felt so real. I hope they keep a similar depth and originality for Subnautica 2. Subnautica is so freaking good. I don't know if any other game will ever occupy a similar niche and outdo it.
it also makes me think: despite the fact that the neolite started like 10-15k years ago, we still have some of those primal survival instincts that get triggered by this game, which activates the fight or flight response, but also constant awareness of your surroundings like is it really a survival game if it doesn't activate your survival instincts? and at the same time this is what we were doing for the longest time, so in a way we've evolved to "enjoy" things like this
low expectations for subnautica 2 after below zero.
Below zero went through development hell, hopefully Subnautica 2 doesn't have that same hell (I'll absolutely be doing a video on below zero's shortcomings)
Great video, although at 10:08 you made a mistake, the Blood Kelp biome contains one ghost leviathan
Yep that’s my mistake, I even included him in the video 😂
This is genuinely one of the highest quality videos I have seen in a while you just got yourself a new subscriber keep up the amazing work!
Just saw a reaper yesterday I was going to the mushroom forest but I went west so I saw some thermal vents and a shadow… It swooped down and I only saw the tail I don’t even know if it agroed to me but I just loaded the save
R U N
I love seeing how this small little indie game can get dozens of videos like this explaining why it’s one of the greatest series ever made. I know a lot of people didn’t like Below Zero, but personally, I still did (even if the story was a little weak.) Very excited to see how Unknown Worlds will be able to terrify my thalassophobic brain in Subnautica 2. And I just realized that I’m already subbed to you from your Destiny video 😂.
welcome back! haha glad you enjoyed this one too!

The fact this video is only 728 views
We all know the reason Subnautica is a masterpiece. Riley’s fine ahh haircut.
🤓erm actually... subnautica 2 will be set on obraxis prime instead of 4546b
fire vid btw
My mistake 😂
When did they say it was obraxis prime? All subnautica 2 says is that it takes place on an all new uncolonized alien planet/world.
There was an incident on Obraxis Prime, that means it can't be unexplored
Obraxis Prime is the reason we don't get weapons in the Alterra survival package. I would be 100% thrilled to explore new water worlds, though
holy underrated
love this video and this is probably the game that started my enjoyment of video games and where below zero was good I just couldn't get over this game.
Subnautica I originally played on my 15” MBP I enjoyed it so much I bought my first gaming pc
video goes hard, you got good commentary man
