Another interesting show guys 👍
you guys may be my best hope in the following: I see a ton of stats from various pages, but I'm curious about percentage of goals by headers. It just seems we've really been doing it that way a LOT lately, but realise I may be completely wrong Thanks.
Okonko, Joe jones, noddy Thomas, Ian moir,Bobby shinton, gary Bennet, Albert Kinsey, Carlos Edward’s, Karl Connolly, Dennis Lawrence , alan Birmingham…😊
My all time XI - Ben Foster, Ryan Barnett, Gareth Davis, Eddie May, Joey Jones, Bobby Shinton, Mickey Thomas, Barry Horne, Arfon Griffiths, Dixie McNeil, Paul Mullin
Congratulations on the double century. Barry Horne midfield
Do you really think we are ready for the championship at the moment looking back at the Sheffield united and Blackburn games
Definitely not….but things will develop, and we only need a few more quality signings
Another great production thanks lads-didn’t get chance to say hi or shake your hands and we were 4 rows directly behind you at Charlton - some game - disappointed from the Fens! But hyper on the way we’re playing and picking up results now. A season of twists and turns. Just like the old times. Please keep us updated in your great work, keep RRR at the top lads!!!
I'm still holding out hope for Paul Mullin to break out of his slump. And who knows? Mo Faal may step up and become a legitimate threat. The second half of the season I'm sure will see an improvement in goals scored like previous years. Most importantly is that Wrexham is presently sitting in a good position vis-a-vis promotion. As was mentioned several times this podcast they're still finding ways to win. Remember that just last year at this time Wrexham was still in the National League. I'll be delighted if we fail to gain promotion but get to participate in the playoffs. Another year in League One is okay in my books.
What a position to be in, 2nd place and with a goal scoring misfire, Matty James needs to stay, not sure we’ve seen enough of Bodvarsson to make a decision, but it’s looking more likely as the weeks go on that we need someone who has the ability to convert these chances that have gone begging. Would Stockport be where they are without Louie Barry? Where would we be with someone like that, what a great conundrum to be in
Would love to have a show covering some of the exploits of former player since they left the club. Such a Hayden and Tozer.
The headline should read Wrexham signs Brazilian Defender 👉🤩👍
Gary from Lincoln was the best opposition fan on your podcast this season. He was engaging, likeable and sometimes, I fast forward this part but enjoyed every minute of the conversation.
Well done guys. Another great episode. 👍
Gents this was another good listen. I have been waiting for more discussion about Wrexham’s other “talisman” Elliot Lee. He was sitting right next to PM when they announced signing them until 2027- was seen as a great bit of morale boosting news as Elliot was (is?) a huge component going forward- but lately he’s been anonymous? Is he in need of completion- is this where Matty James can fit? He isn’t producing like last season when Paul was out
OP in his last 98 has only scored 15, and the majority of those are lg2 and Nat lge, he is not good enough, really not sure how you say he is our best, he is a liability away from home, and has no press, or pace or even cannot last 90 mins.
More importantly we need to have more possession and better connections between the midfield and the front two.
Huw is right again.
I personally, don't have a clue who to sign. But they need to have proven ability at League t or Championship or have shown promise at a premiership club and needs games
Right? I'm tired of us often losing the big names to other clubs. We need to make a few statement signings. One or two strikers and one midfielder. Let Fletch retire and try to sell Boyle. Not sure who the other lad would be that we'd drop right now.I guess it depends on who that 3rd signing might be.
weve got too many pedestrian strikers. not enough variation. definately not enough pace. 3-5-2 requires a decent press from the front. that is not happening with tm,s that struggle to press. im hearing that we are looking at tom bradshaw. he has some pace at least and has experience, but hes getting on and his form is duff at the mo. our loanee striker can stay in scotland . we need long term solutions not the current rumours.
Does Wrexham have any Welsh fans or anyone with any kind of Welsh accent?
haven’t you heard of Tomi Caws?
I really don't think Ollie has been good all season. I think he is becoming a liability. Yes, he is available and that's something but Parky keeps insisting and using him as the focus of the attack, they play to Ollie's game... and he is not fast nor precise. The team is losing a lot of plays and possession time trying to feed him and using him, and he is not doing well. I am shocked to think that Faal is not in better shape and he is not faster than Ollie, if that's the case. Palmer is clearly not delivering and to my view he is creating a disadvantage at this point. BUT the biggest issue for me is the midfield. They don't hold the ball or create much at all. They pretty much just serve as first line of defenders and then kick the ball to Ollie or Barnett. Goal creation does not come from the midfield at Wrexham, and at this level it is starting to cost them.
Obviously all 11 are supposed to contribute to the defence, so it's the attackers that are the first line of defenders ... it's the target man's job to be hurry central defenders and wear them down over the game, and to be the anvil to the mobile attacker's hammer in the high press. But at Stockport, if that was an experiment to see whether Jon Dadi could be a hybrid striker and play the mobile striker role, the answer to the experiment seemed to be "No" ... leaving the high press with two anvils and no hammer.
@ of course, I stated that they “just” serve as that said first line of defense. Meaning, they are not doing their other jobs. My point was that they are not creating, that is their main job. But of course, not their ONLY job. Also, that insistence in the anvil/hammer approach has stopped working because Ollie is not playing that well. There are many ways to attack. But Parky fixates with one to the detriment of any other ideas. Maybe is the player selection, or just financial realities but the point is, Ollie is not being a good anvil either. And since the only idea to score is that one, and crosses… well, there are a lot of lost plays that go nowhere or possessions just thrown away because Palmer can’t be the anvil right now. I just wish, there was a plan B or C but that’s rare and always looks improvised more than a well executed plan B.
74-14-6 at home under Parky!! 🤯
How about in the January window and in the summer window start investing in some outside forwards. Parky’s 5-3-2 doesn’t seem sustainable agiainst teams at this level so far. Younger players that already have experience at high level leagues.
John Smiths..😂😂 how the hell do you have a good day drinking John Smiths…🤣
When you're a cheapskate and it's £3 a pint 😂
@ 🤣
I fancy Divin Mubama, who went to Man City from West Ham this offseason... Crazy speed, so crazy he could turn a bad service forward into an opportunity.
We had snow in Chicago for the first time this season today.
Genuine question - i think one of the concerns, I would have about a loan (as the player or as the loaning team) is play time, up until now for a striker loan, getting regular minutes would have been incredibly difficult. And what type of striker would you bring in? Another big guy? We have 4 of those if Bodvarsson and Fletcher stay (and if Faal is being put in that role). If you bring in a small (in relative terms) striker, then what. You starting them instead of Mullin? Like I'd love to see Danns in on loan since he couldn't go out at the start of the season due to injury but that's resolved now, and i don't see him, or liverpool wanting him to come and sit on the bench.
We need to really start thinking about who is going to replace Mullin. Even if he finds his form again, he's not good enough for the championship, which is of course the next target. Frankly, we should have started the search proper last season.
@@TzunSu Who's to say they haven't started that search? I think Faal is part of that equation, but we don't know what other conversations they have had.
@@kenbareilles2794 Sure, hopefully they have, but my point was that i don't think we should wait any longer, it should be a priority to find a replacement this winter. Ideally, the search would have led to a recruitment over the summer, but it might be that they thought Faal would be up and running faster. We can't afford to wait for developing players for first team slots though.
@@TzunSuit is sort of wild we haven't brought someone in. I get Marriott was fit at the time, but seeing how both he and Mullin are now 30 it seems wild we don't have someone in that is younger, minus the academy kids. I agree we need someone permanently, and for the future, but if one isn't available I'll take a 6 month loan, if we don't improve in front of goal. Again I'd imagine that minutes may become an issue but thats a future parky problem, not mine
@@Drowsyfall Well, one issue with recruiting young is that when we were in the NL/L2 getting youth talented enough to have a shot at championship/PL was basically a pipe-dream, and recruiting kids we think *might* be NL/L2 level in a few years is just bad investing. We're kind of caught in the middle atm.
Interesting that Parky and the team clearly do think of County as a derby (post-match interview) - the trans-Cheshire derby!
Love all your insights! I laugh when you lament about early kickoff times. Poor old Rob McElhenney in L.A. and us on Vancouver Island are up for an early kickoff at 4:30 am . Put that on your pillow:)
Every time we see 'moved to 12.30pm' mind is cast to the poor souls over on the west coast!
It should have been a pen.
Thought the screengrab said it all - thankfully for us it wasn't!
I can't believe how wishy, washy everyone is. He could have fine to League 1 instead of coming to Wrexham. He has major surgery and misses the beginning of the season, and now everyone is ready to jump ship on SPM?
Agreed. Idiotic discussion. Not even going to give this video a full view. Click bait.
Keep the badge discussion going! would love to see some of the designs sent in.
Mullin is definitely a League 1 / Championship striker. Have to remember that he's missed another pre-season, he is still playing catch-up, he is getting in the right positions, just needs a goal off his knee or something. I feel for him a lot of the time, I see him making good runs and players not on the same wave-length. He is living off scraps at the moment. He is a proven goal-scorer, just need to stick with it.
There's also that almost the entire goalscoring burden is on his shoulders. Attacking group in terms of goals became severely depleted when Marriott went down which hasn't helped as Mullin gets up to speed
Arthur most equal clean sheets with the Exeter keeper. Good podcast as normal and love the banter.
Be interesting to see Joe Whitworth up close at the Racecourse at the weekend
Quite a few new songs for Mo from the fans that were there, it was a good night overall
It should have been 3 Mullin and Palmer both missed gilt edged chances
Nice to see Cleworth.and Brunt play together at the back
Had a chat with a senior coach in the sport and he believes those two are better suited to play together in the Championship, rather than L1
@robryanred thats interesting, you can see why. I like the way Brunt runs into space with the ball but also get nervous. Definitely needs a partner on the same wavelength to cover him
Problem we have is we rely on mullin so much to grab us the goals as up front, there not really another striker we have who can contribute alot with goals if mullin misfires. Again on the transfer window for front men it been a bit dodgy if truth be told, With Mo the jury is still out on him and the big transfer fee given, was it a desperate move due to other missed targets or a clever one paying that much , time will tell. If we are to sign a striker in january another one by the way then surely it has to be a striker who actually scores goals regulary once and for all. ( oh and never a penalty on gregory, by time scarr had hand on back ball had gone , he lost control of it )
That is exactly it. The goalscoring burden is on his shoulders because the rest of the striking department aren't/never have been prolific scorers
We've played Leyton Orient 0_0 draw
Yes you whinge for the sake of whining 😂
It is what we do best, Alan 😆
24:20 couldnt agree more. Parky gave dalby 2 seasons, i think we should give Faal another season...who know faal might play 90 min for us in a league game soon....
Faal and Mullin at the weekend... maybe?
@robryanred nah i think mullin-dadi at the weekend. Parky tried using two big lads up top and didnt work so he would revert back to big man small man combination.
😂 the 2 beards guys were talking about this last week. Interesting to see the different approaches
Yes we did. But we share alot between podcasts and rob ryan red are always at the forefront of ideas. If you listen to their one the week prior they mention the mullin thing. We expanded on it. We will forever support these guys ❤
❤️
Hey Guys - hope you're doing well. For now, I'm trying to give SPM the benefit of the doubt. That said, he should set his ego aside and act as a decoy to attract defenders and pass off to others to finish while regaining his form. I'm concerned that he's hellbent on proving his scoring prowess at the expense of the team's results.
It was interesting to see him taken out against Stockport and he will likely come back in vs a tough Exeter defence. He needs time to hit his peak this season but so much of the goalscoring responsibility lands at his door
Why do people always look to F with History and classic things. Marketing MORONS are always trying to justify their existence!
A very good discussion. I just hope Craig hasn’t given too much away about the Stags. I’m old enough to remember winning at Wrexham to clinch the old Division 1 championship many years ago. I wuz there! A repeat of that would be nice but I think at Mansfield we all think that consolidation in the current Divison 1 is the aspiration. Just wish I had Sky!
Leave badge alone.
Another great ep. Loved the chat with Craig and his perspective was so interesting
Ps, idgaf about the badge 🤷♂️
Always learn a lot from Craig when the Mansfield games come around
Thanks, as always, for bringing in the fans of other teams. Always insightful. (PS-Jodi Jones got L2 player of the year.)
Of course, foolish to have forgot Jones after his billion assists that season!
Oh, I wonder? Oh yes, the club bankrolled by a film star perhaps. Money talks in football.
Ha, just multi millionaire business owners. Don't give us 'poor little old Mansfield'.
@@ShaunJones-j4n How rich the owners are doesn't figure into how rich the club is unless the rich owners are willing to throw a big chunk of cash at the club.
Growing up in North America, the only games I ever got to watch were ManU. They are one of the richest clubs in the world, with one of the biggest global fanbases with one of the largest payrolls. Where do they sit in the Prem? Stoke has some of the wealthiest owners in the pyramid. How are they doing? How's newcastle doing with their saudi oil money? Money doesn't buy everything. Try and appreciate good ownership.
Of course it does
Which they have, Mansfield were always one of the big spenders in League 2 and are certainly up there in terms of spending this season@@BruceMcFarling
it's one of _THE_ most recognisable club crests in football. It should always remain as it is!
💯
That was such an entertaining episode, really enjoyable. Wrexham has a massive squad. My choice for Port Vale is Burton, Brunt, O'Connell, Boyle, Mendy, Bolton, Jones, Matty James, Adam, Faal, Mulin.
