Nath I agree with you about JJ! He's my favorite! Unfortunately I've embarrassed myself by fangirling over him to his face TWICE now on both US tours. I just can't help myself! 🤣
Very glad to see the team live in Vancouver. Did you know that Humphrey Ker brought sponsorship money to our local high school in Victoria and Tee shirts for teams of youngsters! Love the work rate of most of the players. I don’t think O Palmer hustles enough for the right to play many minutes.
Glad you both made it home safely; enjoyed the Vancouver coverage (and the podcast in general). The red kit is growing on me. I saw it in person at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara and liked it on the pitch. The first time I saw it online I hated it so I guess I am a convert after complaining about it quite loudly 🙄. I would choose Evans (or maybe O'Connell) for Captain, though Dobson was Captain at Charlton and I would not mind giving him a chance at it -- loved watching him play on the tour. But I agree with Nathan that a level-head and calming influence is a good thing for a Captain so my first choice is Evans. It is nice to have so many choices! Midfield: Lee, Evans, Dobson and I wouldn't mind putting McClean upfront with Marriott -- at least for the first few matches and see how it goes. I don't feel qualified to give an opinion on stadium capacity. I would hate to see it get too big and it isn't filled for home matches; I just don't know what that "too big" number is. And how much of it can they "change" and still keep the "oldest existing international stadium in the world" title? Can the stadium effectively be completely overhauled and still retain this title? I hope iFollow isn't problematic because I can't wait for August 10!
A fair few people have said the red kit has grown on them since seeing it in person! You're right about the stadium, it's tricky... want an intimidating atmosphere so it's about best working out that 'biting point' where it's big enough without becoming empty
Excellent fare as ever lads. Re the stadium. I think 25/30K is ample. I Rob may have been serious with the 50K stadium but we’d never fill it, and if crowds do dip … Our base is expanding all the time but given the population of the borough, and surrounding areas, and the Prem League giants within an hour we gotta be realistic. We need to maintain the bear pit atmosphere that is such an advantage
We North Americans have our sense of stadium size distorted by these American football stadiums that are used 6-8 times in a regular season for varsity University teams or 10 times in the regular season for the NFL. A 30,000 seat stadium filled 23 times a year (plus cup ties) is the equivalent of an NFL stadium of 70,000 filled 10 times a year (plus post-season games), or a college stadium of 86,000 filled eight times a year.
Cheers guys! Regarding your midfield combos, I really wish they would bring Brahima Diarra into the mix on a free as a developmental prospect for attacking midfielder. Thoughts?
If McClean is Captain for Away games, how does he come over as Captain to try to cool down McClean enough to keep him on the field when he gets in a bit of a dust up over a modestly enthusiastic tackle?
good pod; it was nice meeting you in vancouver, what a great trip. joined your league as the Iowa Reds!
Was great to meet you and glad you enjoyed the pod? Look forward to seeing if the Iowa Reds can beat the two of us...

@@MotelsonMars You could never embarrass yourself
Great to bump into you both at The Pint. Vancouver FTW!
Was great to meet you! Thanks for your support
You got to emails!!! And they were good.
Loving your work!
Burst out laughing at the shoutout to someone recommending No. 5 Orange for them 😂

Think Palmer's minutes on tour showed he's slightly down the pecking order at the moment

Spot on Mark, need to keep that febrile atmosphere for as long as we can! And thanks for kind words about the pod

Agree with EOC on captain. Calming influence, steady.
@@LOSTshowfan He was my player of the year. He oozes class and quality, reminds me of John Roberts
Forward that plan to Humphrey and Shawn.
I made the same comment last summer after the Chapel Hill friendly. the club could've made a killing if they brought kits with them.
They'd make an absolute fortune
EOC as capt for me

I want McClean as Captain for the Away games, we are lacking in spark ⚡️ when away. McClean will light a fire 🧨 under them.

I'd make McClean Captain this year because this may be his last year. Then captaincy can go to the other candidates in the next season.
He's in prime position right now for sure
I didn't buy the white kit last season because of that blue United logo
It was the only one I skipped last year.
Really does make a difference
Revan at home, McClean away. Better defensively
I was thinking the same when it got to that part of the podcast.
Nathan is hot.
