I love how videos “magically appear” on my TH-cam. I watched with tears because I too quit the Peru Great Divide in Huancavilica on August, 31, 2023 and rode the bus to Cusco. I was exhausted and suffering from constant stomach issues. I felt like a failure and cheater at first but I knew as a 62 year old female that I was doing an amazing job cycling the length of SA thru the Andes. Sometimes we are hardest on ourselves. Congratulations on your amazing journey!

Hi Carla, greetings from Australia. I have just finished binge watching your videos of your ride to Patagonia. I thoroughly enjoyed them. You are an amazing young woman. We know there are a lot of people out there doing this. My big ride was in 2019 from Germany to Kazakhstan and back via the Pamir highway. I was 70 then and after several medical set backs I know I won't be doing anymore big rides. Anyway I just want to tell you that rarely we see such an honest account of such an incredible journey. You deserve full credit for showing your true emotions without sensationlising anything. I can very much relate to the things you where feeling every day. I wish you the very best for the future. You are young and will have many more incredible adventures in your life. All the best Karl❤❤❤

I went to a very similar experience on my peru divide. Its rough. I was lucky it was completely dry for me but halfway in i bailed aswell. Its better to divide the divide before it divides you ❤

These videos could make anyone fall in love with cycling, they show the capability of adventure with a simple machine. can't stop watching. Already wanting to just pack up and go, from mcallen tx (reynosa) to Monterrey maybe for starters, but huasteca potosina is the real goal.

Thanks for giving me the phrase I've been looking for to put under a tattoo I've been designing of a bike on a hill, I wanted to put a phrase that represents how a hill will pass even though the climbing will be quite hard (I struggle with hills on the bike, Haven't deal with hard winds hehe but I look forward to, is part of the biking life). I especially appreciate how honest you are and how you let us into your thought process, sharing both the good and not-so-good sides of such a journey in an unvarnished way. By the way, your method of distracting yourself during difficult times is actually a legitimate method in psychology. Trying to fight negative thoughts is rather counterproductive; acknowledging them and then focusing on something positive, as you have done, is a good idea! I have been watching this series since you started out on Vancouver Island and I must say that you are a true artist Carla. Yes, you are a long distance cyclist but it is evident that you are a creator of quality artistic content. Of course you cannot abandon the trip - how could you channel such great storytelling and video editing? Keep going! You are great and your channel is awesome!

Simply stay happy and think about one day taking a bike to go from Uruguay to Amazonas, by Brazil. It's going to be wowhhh!😮

It’s difficult to just “STOP” the movement. After I completed my first few tours I started to really understand why I needed to keep that routine in my life with breaks in between for rest. My body was telling me that the movement was a healing source. My mind was attuned to the daily meditation when riding. It was how we were meant to live. I would return to the work routine and the path that society likes us to follow but something was very wrong with this. I felt drained by the old ways. I was a mountain guide in Alaska but I left that for a life of biking the mountains and deserts of the world. You did an amazing trip and don’t get discouraged with the rat race. Just know you can always load up and go to do what most just dream 🙏🏼🌈😊🌲
