Pretty much! I actually use the Summit as both synth and midi controller. It sits behind a Digitakt which is my primary sequencer, and it’s also where I program all my midi channels to switch between my external gear from a midi 8 solutions splitter. The Sub-37 sits after that splitter.😅

Hello and thank you for your compliment and comment. Unfortunately my integration with DAW is still not where I would like to be so I can't say too much. There could be a number of reasons for the delay. It's best to start at Layer 1, the physical. How are your devices connected to your DAW? USB? and if so, how long are the USB cables from your instruments to your USB hub or direct in to you computer? I know over further distances will cause degradation potentially. I

@@embazle it's cool and thanks for your reply. I found the answer in the meantime. Just as a little info for yourself, if you so hook up with a Daw, the subsequent has "beat sync" so when you trigger the Arp on the keyboard it will allways sync perfect to the sequence. I realise the Summit does not have this feature so precise triggering of the Arp on the summit is necessary if playing arps live. Just an FYI.

You’re absolutely right, that reach is a far stretch at times but it’s manageable when I stand. The K&M stand has some slight limitations when it comes to the third tier covering the second tier. I’ve donee my best to extend it in such ways that it doesn’t cover my view of the second tier when I am standing. However the performance tiers should remain at tier 1 and tier 2. You’ve given something to rework though. I could potentially bring the sub37 down, move the tr8 up, I’d have to remove the yamaha cp, that’s not particularly a primary piece, it’s just there when I want it. @@embazle I know set ups are a pain in the ass and took me multiple configurations to finally find what's right and feals comfortable. Do look at the studio videos to get ideas, my suggestion would be to keep sub37 on top as I do so, novation on second tier. Get one of those racks with access ontop, get gear to the left and right of keyboard stand. Any modular or control surfaces, keep them either on 3rd tier or to right, if your right handed for example. Whatever you do make sure you have full access to your sub and Novation for comfort and everything else can fit around practically 👌

Thanks bro, on the contrary, I let the patch in the sub37 do its arp thing. The Digitakt is keeping the master tempo in check though while I play on the summit.

Thanks for the kind words and having a listen. Before getting the Summit I was stuck on the Sequential Rev2. I went with the Summit ultimately because of the 16 voice polyphony. Prior to the Summit I used a Korg Minilogue and an Elektron Digitone. My patch creating is not the most adept, so getting the Summit was a big jump for me. I am happy with the functional performance features built into the Summit and the vast array of patches I find others creating. It does have a very lush sound palette, but if I could make the jump, the Arturia Polybrute would probably do best, I only wish it were 8 voices versus 6. At any rate I am content, eventually on this synth journey I’ll take a deeper dive into patch creating as it is truly where it shines, and in that will revile against many synths in its price range.

@@embazle thank you for your honest appraisal. I believe we have similar setups as I’m running a Digitakt, Analog Rytm 2, Dfam with Dfam thing, Mother32, Grandmother and a Hydrasynth desktop. I’m considering a ‘centre piece polysynth’ so I’m looking at the Summit as well as a few others at 2nd hand price ranges I’m a bit stuck to know which. I write techno, micro house, rominimal styles but most demos I find are ambient or quite basic, so I must thank you for your content as it certainly resonated 🤘🏼⚡️

I tend to get more views with the ambient style demos versus my techno performances. I enjoy creating techno mostly inspired by psy hypnotic tech and hard techno should my sound creations allow. I don’t do enough justice in Ableton, but it’d be nice to do a true production should I ever truly commit and learn that route. Most recordings I do are raw and unmastered and it’s easier to do with hardware than software in my case. I’d really like to upgrade my tr-8, I was considering a RYTM2 or a TR-8s, just because I enjoy having the sliders, makes for easier control performance wise. I’m very honored to share my experience and learning from others, especially given our taste in synths and music!

Thank you for listening! I have a TC electronics Hall of Fame and a Flashback that’s being sent into a dedicated channel on mixer and looped out through an aux send on the mixer also. This enables a me to send FX to any instrument on the mixer. That’s probably one of the next pieces I’d like to have… upgrading to a solid fx pedal like a big sky 😊.

Hey, thanks for coming and seeing my channel. Yeah, the Dallas to Ableton hybrid set up is some thing that has always been a challenge for me. I can’t imagine trying to make that happen where gear is not optimized to handle it all at once I most of the time use my iPhone to record With OBS and an app on the iPhone that interfaces with OBS it works pretty well. I love all this jamming Ableton would be great when I get there having templates and everything turning on just like how I would with the regular synthesize. I think that’s what holds me back on a performance aspect. I’m just not there yetnonetheless kudos to you and I’ll definitely check out your channel. Hi, thank you for the nice words. It’s been a journey, my older videos you’ll see where I have different synths, they were humble beginnings. Sometimes I like to veer back to having that kind of set up the mad scientist set up. I guess my style is on a more performance base and not one synth can have all the sounds thatmakes that unique sound but all in all this is very functional. I love it. @@embazle The ownership of synthesizers does seem to be a transient state. I've recently sold most of my hardware because my current circumstances doesn't allow me to use them, anyway, so now I've decided to learn using softsynths instead :)

@@mazzysmainframe that is one of the goals that I would hope to acquire, is finally having a hybrid set up with my hardware sense and Ableton. I have a launchpad. I have Ableton but flipping the on switch so to say inside of Ableton is not as easy as the hardware. Obviously, I want it to be though someday all in all I hope you’re having fun.
