i did Orientation a month and soon as i was done i quit... fuck that...

if anyone is fairly new at western and dont have a screwed up reason why you gotta be at western and would like to be with a good company then get ahold of me.

on some trucks there is tricks you can do to make it set and idle. some of the tricks are a little iffy and borderline dangerous but it works

wester express is the shittiest company out there. the hire mostly ex convicts amd drivers with a bad record that cant get a job anywhere else. the management knows the drivers have to take their abuse because they cant work anywhere else. western express is the worst mistake a driver could ever make.

If no heat the truck doesn't move it will not pass pre trip inspection therefore must be fixed before truck touches the road

They don't have Webasto in their trucks?

Here in Europe all the trucks have diesel heaters since mid 90's. It burns way less fuel than the engine at idle and it is a silent solution. I can't believe american trucks don't have it

I've never been a big fan of completely electronic common rail diesel trucks especially the ones with the e-log Qualcomm system on it they can turn it off at the flip of a switch whenever they want it's not fair

This is just bad advice. Get a driving job that actually pays well. Driving semi isn't the only way to make good cash driving. Most semi companies don't pay enough to survive.

Then they should purchase a generator for the trucks to save fuel and keep your drivers warm and keep your batteries fully charged

You shouldn't be Idleing a engine anyway you should have diesel heaters fitted and not them silly little diesel engines you have on the chassis that keeps everyone awake chinese diesel heaters used them in the uk for the past 30 year's brilliant.

You can use a lighter to heat the sensor in the driver side mirror to where the truck reads over 100 degrees. Start it up then and it won't shut off.

Currently leasing with western express and getting screwed over. Got 3 months experience. What would you recommend doing ? Need a job that is guaranteed wages. Not so up and down.

What about the bunk heater? Not idling you can't have air conditioning in the warmer months but there's a bunk heater available while truck is off.

There are a lot better companies than Prime and Swift to move to.

I have turned down several otr Jon's recently I have no kids,I have no wife she Passed away some years back, but I think about trying to find a place to park and trying to find a address in a city I would not even drive a car and trying to fuel, and find something to eat,and yet a shower if you have enough energy to wait 2 hrs for a shower, and try to sleep if you get parked lol,and hoping you don't have to fight with another truck driver about who was first it's really not worth it I don't know Mayne it was never for me I don't like trying to find a address in New Jersey to deliver a load I don't get any sense of accomplishment out of it just a big nightmare I'm still trying to figure out the eld lol,I don't have the mind for anything advanced I think you really need a two year college degree an a high iq to really know what you are doing out here,I'm a back wood simple minded country boy,and that's how I have survived all my life

Don't they have a optional bunk heater worked in trucking for years we had bunk heaters that ran for 10 hr. and only used 1 gallon of fuel and in most states, they have a no idle rule isn't that why they do it.

It could be that the emission systems are to expensive to fix idling these truck overnight. Don't they have truck stops that have those in window HVAC?

None of these companies are interested is saving money, they are interested in maximizing profits for the shareholders.

Webasto bunk heater will keep you warm all night and only burns about 1/10th of a gallon of fuel per hour so it's very economical, just gotta work for a company willing to have this installed. And owners operators should absolutely have one as it will save you a ton of money vs idling.

Yep, they can abuse employees because of surplus of CDL holders. Hope nobody dies from this.

Id leave. Fuck 'em. There's a fool born every minute. This is EXACTLY why I went local! I'm home every night, sleep in my bed that doesn't vibrate, don't have to put up with a stench at a truck stop in the morning, healthier, got an awesome boss.

At Western Express, they lie to you about almost everything, including pay, and the trainers probably know less than you because they start training after only 3 months of employment and they're usually ghetto thugs who don't bathe often. Mine was just 6 months out of a 5 year prison sentence. He was a "lease to own" driver so he insisted on sleeping while I was driving (how could he train like that?) and insisted that I sleep (in the top bunk) while he was driving. Why? To keep the truck moving 24/7 so he could make more money. Try sleeping in the top bunk while someone is driving. All I did was bounce up and down off the mattress the whole time. Obviously couldn't sleep and then...... It's MY turn to drive. Total shit show!

This guy is the kind of driver Megas love, Will take all the abuse then ask for another, the reason carriers get away with it. 48c per mile 70 hrs week, it's crazy.

Truck drivers over there must be as weak as piss. If a company tried this in Australia, their fleet would be parked up down a bush track somewhere and left there.
