NF has a lot of lore, with so many callbacks to previous songs and videos, but his stuff can be enjoyed even if you don't get that stuff. And for the record though he's Christian and tends to give God a shout-out in a lot of his songs, he doesn't consider himself a Christian artist. Intro then Mansion would be good next, then Intro 2, Therapy Session, I Just Wanna Know, Real..... So many! Btw, i know this isn't what you're going for, but a bonus of your videos for me is that your voice hits me like ASMR.

Made me think - even back when Baroque music was being made - the players would dress, the performance was a spectacle - perhaps northern soul and club music wasn’t about the artists visuals. Love love watching your mind work in “real time”. You are a deep thinker. You may have been a philosopher in a previous life. I think you should write your thoughts down for future generations to understand the current time we live in. I don’t think time is linear. We’re tricked by the short time we’re here and the fact that our bodies age. But our souls don’t age and they don’t die. A soul is energy and good souls come back where they are needed in the circle of time. Could be the future could be the past. Ren brings these thoughts to me. And it looks like he does the same to you. Love your soul.

There's so much more emotion in this live version. I feel the intensity. That was a lovely observation about the cinematography. You have a good eye.

I don't know if you've heard this: In an early interview with Ren, he says that he usually thinks about visuals while he's writing songs. So the visuals for his videos are integral, not something just added on. But, he also said, talking about the video for "Animal Flow," that many of the concepts for that 1 video were last minute additions.

This is so raw and emotional. In acoustics he digs much deeper into the visceral. At this point Connor was his right hand man and good friend. Since then he has become his manager. He's the first person Ren embraces when he learned of winning the #1 album for Sick Boi. A truly quality guy. I don’t know the guitarist, but Luke ,the videographer says he got goosebumps every time Ren sang the nah nah nee. This Monday the 26th of Aug. Ren is releasing a live version of Bittersweet Symphony done with a string Quartet. And on Wed Chris Webby is realeasing his song with Ren featuring. Heads up my friend!❤

I love the pose that you're talking about. Ren does it in a lot of his videos. I feel like it's a moment of surrendering to the all. So fitting that you used the word "akashic." In Vedantic philosophy, it has a technical meaning of "an ethereal fluid that pervades the cosmos."

One aspect I appreciate in his songs is his commitment to the performance. There’s no holding back. Full body, full voice, full vulnerability - and that adds that extra few percent to lift things out of standard fare. As always a thoughtful reaction. Have a good weekend mate.

Izzy, you always give me reason to pause. That's a good thing. When you spoke about your music and letting it happen because it feels right made me think about when I give talks. Often, something will hit me that's off script. When I go with it, not always knowing why, it seems that someone will approach me after and say that that was the part that meant the most to them. Makes me believe there is an intelligence in that space between us.

Taylor has been friends with Paul McCartney for years. He has been at the Eras tour in Europe to watch the concert.

Agreed…all modern music can find a trace back to the Beatles. Their impact is crazy considering the short a,out of time they were together. Btw-Taylor and Paul are friends. She interviewed him for Rolling Stones in 2020 and he wrote the song Who Cares? about Taylor. He was just at her tour in the UK. Another fun fact, Taylor can play a 12-string. She learned after a guitar teacher told her when she was young that she couldn’t learn to play the 12-string after she had asked about it. Great reaction. I’m assuming cardigan is next. It’s my favorite of the trilogy. Peter from TTPD, released this year, would be a great listener after that as there are some parallels.

It being rambling is something I kind of understand; I actually think the original 5 minute version from the main album is "better" in terms of technicality and storytelling, while this version hits better as a cathartic vent to scream/sing along to. Unfortunately, this is basically the only version most fans will consider exists now, and the only one people will recommend 😅 I think her popularity stems from the elements of relatability to the female experience, particularly the white female American experience, like you mentioned, but also she has a lot of fans who are around her age that more or less grew up with her, and her story often intersects with theirs in a lot of ways in terms of life experiences (gaining independence, traumatic relationships, facing adversaries and/or bullying, crushes and the whole romantic spectrum, etc). I'm a nerd who loves to overanalyze lyrics and stories, so I very much enjoy her overall use of metaphor and general sense of creativity with song structure and genre, but I actually can't really relate to most of her songs either dsfsdfds

Interesting you picked up on The Beatles. Taylor has been a guest over the years to Sir Paul McCartney's big house parties. Usually they occur around Grammy season. There are a few pictures of them chatting at different events. But I think they talk more when she's at his place since there aren't cameras around therefore being able to have a thorough one on one conversation with him. I'm sure they have talked about music and exchanged a few ideas here and there. Also, not too long ago, he attended her Eras Tour and was seen dancing with fans and singing along to her music. He looked like he was having a blast. And Taylor is friends with his daughter Stella. She has worn some of her merch over the years. Stella is even mentioned in Taylor's song "London Boy". Plus, Taylor listens to older music. Her parents always had music playing around the home from James Taylor (whom she's named after and got meet and sing with) to Def Leppard. She has mentioned her love for Joni Mitchell, Carole King and Stevie Nicks. So there is that musical influence from these big music icons.

Not surprising it’s Paul McCartney-esque as she and Paul are good friends, and she’s undoubtedly influenced by his music. He always sings her praises, commenting on her ability to write beautiful lyrics. They recorded a song together I believe, although I can’t remember the name off the top of my head. Taylor learned to play guitar on a twelve string!
