So to answer your question from the first movie that obviously confused you both on this one. There's only going to be 2 Marty's. The one that left for 1955 and the one that came back to 1985 from the first movie. So in this movie he is seeing what he did when he first went to 1955, in the first movie he see himself leave for 1955 but that Marty came back at the same exact time in 1985 before Doc got shot.Pretty much he is just seeing himself leave but the job is already done. Hopefully this clears things up even tho it does sound kinda confusing. BTW good catch by AJ on when the accidental time change in the time machine. Many missed that when they watch it for the first time.

1:20:20 I think you are over complicating things for yourself. When Marty went back to the past then came back, he saw himself go back in time to do all the things he had just done. So that brief ten minutes of difference are the only time you have 2 versions of the Delorian and Marty. Marty came back in the exact same Delorian he watches leave and has already solved the problem of returning to his current timeline.
