@barfly246 I let mine go a little low in my opinion, sold it for 11k. Low-ish miles, tons of money into it. But I started working in the Arctic and it virtually never got driven, plus I needed money for all the Arctic gear I needed to buy. Oh well 🥴

@BenshobbyStuff I'm not a fan of any LRP engines personally, but that one was free with amain points, so I figured why not.

It's a 2 speed, however the transmission doesn't work

Through their US website parts are available, however I don't like the fact that after placing sn order there's no confirmation or shipping alerts of any kind. But, you can always buy parts through amainhobbies.com they have been awesome to me.

@RickyD1968 I had a great experience in the past, but this time around I contacted them by phone (number doesn't work) by email (no response) and through Facebook (again no response).

You are right, not a lot of smoke however its harder to see on the video compared to real life. I ran it slightly on the lean side, the turbo .30 engine is extremely finicky to tune (at least in my experience) and this tune it had during the video was literally the only way it ran properly and revved up enough to shift into 2nd gear. Good eye though. More videos coming in the coming days!

@RickyD1968 The radio is indeed cheap, first thing I got rid off. Along with the servos.

@mark737-c4x Hey there, no mine didn't have any grinding or rough spots on the differentials. It felt smooth, I would definitely open that up and check the differential just to be sure.

@chopers49 Thank you, and I'm glad you found the video helpful. The Hobao MT is great, but having to throw away the electronics right away and having other issues and on top of that ZERO customer service kinda makes this a bad choice, unless you are prepared to spend extra money. Now, the Losi 8ight truggy is a phenomenal platform in my opinion, fast, agile, easy to tune... I'd say go for it!

Really nice for the price point, easy to tune, very smooth and makes good power.

Thanks man! Yeah, I agree a kit would be nice, it's a shame buying one of these and throwing away parts because they are of mediocre quality, like all their electronics. And yeah, sold truck for sure, too bad Hobao's customer service seems to have disappeared here in the US. Nevertheless, I'm happy with the truck, it's definitely fun!

@kentuckyrc2142 the savage seems like a solid truck, but I do remember someone complaining about the electronics. So yeah, you're right, regardless of which one you go with, you'll most likely have to do some upgrades right off the bat to enjoy the damn thing 🤣

@@bustednutsrc it wouldn't stay running at first, the glow plug was no good when I took igniter of it would die so , I put OS LC4 in and it stayed running but I noticed the carb leaking at low speed needle because when I would go to turn it the Idle would go up and down so I put a Nova Mega .21 Serpent Carb and it's fine but grub screw backed out on 2 speed clutch and wasted it so waiting for clutch now

@RuggedRc Well, I didn't want to risk that taking too long and not finishing the video before leaving for work again. So I just purchased the gear myself. The gear was only like $7 and even though Serpent never sent an order confirmation or even tracking info, I received the gear a week after I ordered it. On a side note, Amain did reach out to me after they found out the car had quality issues and offered me a store credit, they also offered reaching out to Serpent for me to file a claim. I got the video all done, will be uploaded Saturday!

Yes, stock mount, I just re-drilled the mount holes on the block itself.

Thank you, I really enjoyed that buggy. It was a blast all around, I think Hobao is quite underrated here in the US. They really make excellent quality RC's.

They really are a good brand, excellent quality.. and I think people don't realise that until they own one. I did an event two months ago using a newly built SWORKz T2E Truggy, being new to that Truggy and learning how it behaved ill admit I did struggle somewhat to begin with, so much so that I decided to give the Hobao Truggy a run in one of the qualifiers - I qualified much higher with that than the SWORKz, it felt sure-footed on track, I knew what it was going to behave like, unlike the other Truggy 🫣 so it managed to qualify higher than other race kits, proves that it can be competitive.

@cramalnig that is really interesting! I haven't taken many rtr cars to the track, maybe I should start doing that and comparing them to other brands and kits. I'd like to see the hobaos do against my kits. One thing is for sure, hobao's would probably outlast most kits. They are tough as nails!

You'd make some good videos I think by doing comparisons. I've only ever bought rolling chassis versions of Hobao, I prefer to add my own electronics and tinker with the setup, far better I think than stock electrics. Those rolling chassis' have never disappointed me at all... That last event I did with the SWORKz was a pure learning curve, having sussed a few things out with it it's now ready for the next one in July (on astroturf, oh dear, another learning curve!).. but I'm confident in the Truggy now that it'll perform. I'll be using the VS2e in the eBuggy class too.. 😎 that'll be interesting..

Great choice, they are pretty nice cars.

I wouldn't necessarily call this a "racing class" RC so much as something that kinda bridges the gap between the full racing platforms and entry-level RTRs. It's based on an older platform, but with both updates to take what was learned from more recent models and apply them as well as very intelligently applied cornercuts to reduce manufacturing costs without completely neutering handling or stability. It'll hold its own in a club race at most tracks, but don't expect it to win at IFMAR.

Those tires are HPI beams, on hpi wr8 black wheels. I found them on ebay.

I would try tightening both bolts all the way (don't force them) and then backing each about 2 turns and go from there. It was definitely finicky on mine as well.
