I started my adventure with nitro with 1:10 HSP (94166) for great money. I didn't like the sound of 1:16, and I couldn't afford 1:8. This was my golden shot. A simple but wonderful engine. Absolutely textbook engine break-in and predictable behavior, easy to start, easy to maintain... Very durable chassis (I hit something many times) and cheap, generally available parts. If I started my adventure with a used 1:8, I would probably be discouraged (I bought a very dilapidated MP7.5). Now, years later, I would like to add a 1:16 model to my collection, but I haven't seen them anywhere
I have one as a novelty (being a tiny .07 engine). I baby it, and enjoy having it in my collection. Ill start it every now and then and run for a few minutes on pavement for the smile. The 1/10 Exceed Forza was my first nitro before getting my nitro rustler 12 years ago. It was a ton of work and broken parts, ironically the engine was bulletproof. Bought a revo 3.3 in 2018, my primary!
That's strange that they went with plastic. Definitely not good for the power the buggy has. It sure is small but it seemed to run well and had good power.
Yes, bad choice going with plastic. But you are correct, it makes good power and the engine is surprisingly reliable. I didn't look for metal gear replacements but I was told they are available.
I definitely agree. Avoid cheap. Usually end up spending more in the long run anyway. Gotta say awesome tuning btw. I'm still practicing my tuning haha. Mine keeps bogging down after being on about 1/4 throttle for a bit and then punching full throttle but then picks up, although if revs are high its fine if i punch full throttle. I'm guessing it's the HSN. It is an 18 year old engine so could also be that haha. Keep it up! Nice videos 😎
Thank you! Yes, it could be the age of the engine, are you seeing a decent amount of smoke while full throttle? And have you checked the temps when the car bogs down? I don't tune by temps, but I use temperature to see in what direction I want to go if I'm a little concerned about how the engine is running. Feel free to reach out if you need anything.
@bustednutsrc Thanks. Ye I am seeing a decent amount of smoke. I could maybe lean it out a bit more but not too much I don't think. Temp wise I have no idea. It's strange as it only happens after being on 1/4 throttle for a little bit and punch it to full. If i punch it from stand still or if its in high revs its fine. I'm hoping to get the hobao ss truggy soon anyway. Using this one to practice my tuning skills haha. Thanks again!
@@bustednutsrc Not at all I tryed to run it in nothing the thing I learn from this a quality brand is a quality brand never had problem like this with my kyosho
I had a Kyosho 1/16 mini inferno, sweet car, but spare parts are non-existent (clutch bell means buying a whole used engine off Ebay for $150). I mention the Kyosho because they were the best at the 1/16 scale nitro and they couldn't even get a following in that nitro scale. From what I understand Exceed is the only brand currently in production of 1/16 scale nitro. If you're really set on 1/16 it may be best to stick to brushless.
@@ilirpellumbi1788 I don't think a quality 1/16 has been produced in a long time, Sportwerks made one, It was marginally better than the exceed, and probably used a lot of the same parts. Best bet would be to find a new old stock Kyosho Mini Inferno Half 8, good luck finding one, and expect to drop $500-$700 for it.
@Reloadthis The half 8 at this point is a shelf queen, virtually nobody is bashing or racing them. If you watch ebay you'll find gently used ones occasionally pop up. I bought a mint one for $200 last month, the engine wasn't even broken in. Clutch shoes don't exist and glow plugs that are proprietary to the 09 engine are not available so you're stuck drilling the head to get it to accept standard plugs.
Yeah thats an electric rc car for a 390 brushed or the like with a nitro in it, thats too much power on that little car lol, espeacialy with nylon gears 👀, nitro is awesome but a little noisy for use at home unfortunately, so i stick to elecric rc cars only and nothing smaller than 1/12 scale and just maybe a 14 scale though i did concider a mjx hypergo a month ago then decided against it because its too fast for its size meaning lotsa repairing and replacing of parts and tyres, i dont like stupid fast rc cars but rather somthing thats fast but more to its scale and the bigger the faster is what i like, but always still a speed that fits the scale 👍, great vid thnx for sharing and i just knew that car wuddnt last long with that nitro in it lol ✌
Exactly, kind of toy quality with a nitro engine = not a good idea haha. And I agree with the crazy fast rc cars, you also need a ton of space, which can be hard to find depending on where you are. I really enjoy nitro personally, but I have to admit, it's not very practical sometimes.

I actually have 2 of these in my collection. They’re ok. I enjoy the challenge of running the low end Nitro’s. Awesome channel btw.😊
Appreciate it! And yeah, other than the shitty pinion, the buggy was fun to play with, I wish they made a metal set of differential gears.
@@bustednutsrcthere the same as the old lrp 1/18 buggies so if u can find one for that then there u go

Sad that this video came out now. I solld my pc to buy this modell came and the troubles begin
Oh man, has it been running good so far? Maybe order a pinion ahead of time to have it ready.

Is the slash nitro a good buy?
I haven't owned the slash personally, but it's very popular in some nitro groups!
Can you recommend a better brand? I am looking for something tiny nitro.
Hey Nader, as far as tiny in size I can't recommend anything. But I'll look in the coming days and report back!
