Why my player can't move forward and backwards
Without seeing your project, or additional information. There could be a bunch of reasons for this. i'll list a few of the common problems that could arise. You might be missing a rigidbody on your player. You may not have set variable values in the inspector. Your ground may not be on the correct layer. Your input system might have different configured keys. Mistyping in the code. If none of those solve the problem, and there is an error in your console, that would 100% help solve the issue if you paste it bellow. Cheers! :)
I'm using Godot, but this tutorials was still able to help me understand the basic logic and functionality of the code Thanks for the help! The waves are working perfectly and the prototype of my game is actually really really fun!! :)
@@ImOmerAhmed That's great! Thanks for sharing! It's always nice to hear about other people's game projects! :D
Incredible video, considering purchasing the whole course... I have one question though, how did you make that terrain?? or where did you get the assets to paint the terrain??
@hectorminator4 Thanks for the kind words! :) I created all the assets you see in the scene, including the textures on the terrain. In the full course, the majority of these assets are available as we get to those sections, as well as a bunch of new models and spritesheets!
In Unity 6, you no longer need to download the 2d ik package, its included in the 2d package
Thanks for the update! Hope this video still helped! :)
Hii, thank you for your kind tutorial. I am having an Issue with the stairs: usually i use the sphere collider and cause of it I can’t climb the stairs or any object with box collider. What could I do? Thanks in advance
@OhCappio Thanks for watching! :) If you've been following along, you likely have a player controller using rigidbody movement, as well as a raycast. I would start by removing the raycast entirely. Originally, I intended to use transform movement, which might actually be better, but since we are using rigidbody, we can just ignore the raycast for now. Next, I would make sure your collider on your player is a capsule or like you said, a sphere. And then for the stairs, ensure that the ramp collider is penetrating the ground, so your player doesn't get stuck on the lip. The final thing is to ensure the angle of the ramp isn't too steep, as you may not be able to get up it. Hopefully, all of these tips help! Let me know if you still have difficulty! :)
Incredible video mate!
@julianelder2582 Haha, thank you for watching! :)
Gotta comment for the algorithm
@Average_Communist Thank you so much, really appreciate it! 🙏
Hi!! I have a question, which condition did u use to change between animations? I created all the animations but none of the conditions that i tried to use worked. Help me pls ;)
It's no different than if you were to do it regularly. In the animator I created a walking bool parameter, and changed it in the player controller based on input. Hope this helps! 🙏
Good job on the video and game buddy. I've never seen your past videos but i enjoyed this one
Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it! 😁
@ThatOneUnityDev thanks for the reply!

I see that you’re trying to increase readbililty for the upgrades but can I suggest graying out the white outline as well? Or having some other way to make it clear that its grayed out because I couldn’t tell until you said it
@myadiah Thanks for watching, and for the feedback! That's a good suggestion! I will have to play around with it! 😀
1:58 - Just gotta remind you- that you just lost The Game.
awhh shucks. 😂

🤯
i was going to tell you to add background music to your devlogs untill i upped the volume to the point that my ears where kinda hurting from your voice, then i could faintly hear that you already had music, so i guess making it a little louder would be nice
@zaickho8359 Thanks for the feedback! I've always had trouble determining what volume to have the music at. Too loud and it becomes distracting, and too quiet, and you can't hear it! I definitely prefer to air on the side of too quiet, but thank you for the feedback, I'll make sure it's a bit louder next time! 🫡
Maybe "The Hero(s) of The Pixel Spire"?
@vk-fb4ox Haha, yeah maybe! 😂
@@ThatOneUnityDev nah, disregard that
good luck!!

@KinoGameStudios Thank you so much! I really appreciate all the support! 🙏.. Fallout mods sound like they would be really fun to work on! 😄
just asking but where you inspired by Enter The Gungeon?
@olikow2009 So funny enough, I was actively avoiding similar games, because I didn't want outside influence, so I never played Enter the Gungeon until I took the 2 year break from the project! During the break, I also played all sorts of games in the genre for the first time, like for example, Terraria. Now that ive returned to the project, I can without a doubt say that I should have played them sooner! I'll definitely be taking inspiration from all the parts I loved about those games! :)
this looks like a cool game I make sure to check it out when it comes out
Thank you so much! If you wanted to wishlist it on steam (so you don't forget), a link is in the description! :)
Best of luck on your dream game!

I just bought the course. I gotta say I very much love how good, comprehensive, and beginner-friendly course it is. But I really hate the way you end a sentence lol 🤣 that particular inflection kinda irks me, a weak point in an otherwise awesome course
@anthropologuy Haha, I actually was undergoing some vocal coaching during production. So let's hope it's better towards the middle of the course! 🙏 Who knows, maybe it was the coaching that was creating the inflection.
Great and succinct tutorial!
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed the video! :)
gravity smash attack that destorys the enemy by increasing the gravity over enemy.
What a great suggestion! I will add it to the list! :D

You know it! 😂
Hey ThatOneUnityDev, I was wondering how to make a difficulty system overtime because for my game it wouldn't work with all enemies spawning at once.
I'm not too sure I understand. So in the code for the wave spawner, there is a variable to control the wave duration, which slowly release enemies based on that number. Then when they are all defeated, the wave number increases and the difficulty increases as well.
@@ThatOneUnityDev Okay thanks a lot! I'm making kind of like a plants vs zombies kind of game so I wanted spawning enemies to be slow and progressive, thanks for the help!
Hey thank you for that ^^ I was wondering if there is a way I could animate that rope so it would make some kind of sine-waved "whip" movement towards the desired ray cast position, The Line Renderer could work with that but I am scared it would be performing poorly when placing so many line segments
@dnoldGames Not at all! The line renderer is super lightweight, I wouldn't worry about too many line segments unless you're using over 100! :)
I had lots of fun working on this! Thanks for having me part of the channel! 🎉
@@ErenCode Haha, not a problem! It was a blast! :)
Am I the only one that finds one enemy very little. I add in my game always 12 every bigger update? And why do you two don't trust eachother to inplement the enemy. It is a cool enemy dough. I love how he turned out!!!
@mar-dev1 Thanks so much for watching! I think it's more about quality than quantity! This is especially true for my game, where balancing is super difficult! 👌 You're right. We could have traded game projects entirely. But I think it's a bit too much to ask someone to learn the in's and outs of your project just for adding one enemy. Plus, implementing the idea made it more fun to surprise one another! 😉
Don't forget to check out ErenCode's video to see the enemy I added to his game! th-cam.com/video/hDnAD1T6DP0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=gBTdh1h7YwnQul5t

SLIDING!!
Awesome suggestion! I will add it to the list! :)
Excellent tutorial. Simple and to the point. Covers all the relevant topics, easy to understand and focusses more on the concept than spending 10 minutes showing you exactly what to write in code one character at a time.
Thank you so much! I am glad you enjoyed the video! :)
Hey very cool tutorial, thanks! Unfortunately I have a problem with the clipping function. My character can't even climb small hills. Sometimes he just gets stuck. And when I get to the top of something bigger, I sink back into the ground. He only makes it up very small hills. Is this intentional or should it actually also work on larger hills (that aren't really steep)?
Something I noticed after I released the video, is that I actually went with rigidbody style movement. With this being the case, we could potentially just drop the entire raycast/snap feature altogether, as the rigidbody would take care of all the movement. With that being said, regardless of what method you use, you will run into the issue of slopes. Don't worry, you're not alone. Slopes are actually a big talking point in gamedev, with various methods and approaches on how to deal with them. The best 'bang for your buck' is to probably remove the raycast/snap feature as mentioned earlier, and apply a physics material to your player that has good friction. This should allow for decent inclines, and be more than enough for most cases. But if your still having issues, or are interested, it might make more sense to look into proper slope detection.
Hmm where is link bro
Hmmm.. 🤔.. Right here! th-cam.com/video/ihurRMKz2es/w-d-xo.htmlsi=7GevFwE9dSuChms8

2d core needed how to make day night cycle not urp , in core no direction light
Thank You SOOOOOO much! I also watched your grappling hook video and it was epic! I just have onneeeeee question. Do you know how to use dampening to slow down the players velocity? I’ve implemented a dash and if you dash upwards it zooms up and takes a while to come down.
@TheAnimatedSquare Haha. Thanks so much for watching! :) ... If you want a quick and dirty way, you can just subtract the inverse velocity a second after you dash (to still allow the upward momentum). To make it feel a bit better, alternatively, you can check to see if they reach the max dash velocity, then subtract until it reaches 0. Hope this helps! 🙏
@@ThatOneUnityDev Oh yea ok, so just state a maximum velocity, if the player reaches that maximum velocity start subtracting?
@TheAnimatedSquare Exactly! Alternatively, if you want a 'no code' solution, you could always increase the linear/angular drag, and increase your dash force to compensate! :)
@@ThatOneUnityDev mmm, yea I tried that the only problem is I don’t think drag affects vertical momentum. So I have no idea, I tried using Mathf.SmoothDamp() but I don’t know.
@@ThatOneUnityDev Ok ok ok, I know I might sound like a madman but do you know how why DistanceJoint2D is very stiff? I’m using velocity movement so that could be it or should I report this on the discord server?
.. or inspector will check you
😂
Can't say I like the new drawl at the end of your sentences
Hey, not a problem. I was coached to speak that way as it makes things a bit more clearer for a wider audience. I do agree it's a little over-exaggerated at times, but it's something I'm actively working on! Thanks for the feedback. ❤
Thanks for the information, and the laughs
