How much gap should be in between rod and crank web with feeler gauge
Thanks for the service!
Yes sir, you are welcome. The really interesting thing to me was, that crank was originally manufactured to close enough tolerances, that PERMITTED it to be trued up that close. Heck, there are current Hot Rods cranks that are NOT mfg to tight tolerances and therefore can not be trued that closely.
Nice, concise video for a not easily figured out assembly without a book or video like this. Good work, Andrew.
Hey do the 2024 Ktm 125 cranks come with the 503 rod
Yes sir, I believe so. I think by mid-2023 they got away from the B rod, and back to the 503.
@ ohhhh ok and you’ve rebuilt a ton of 2024 and they all had 503?
@ have you rebuilt any 2025 125s yet and did they have 503
??
@@Seth-s5n No sir, have not rebuilt a 25 125 150
Подскажите какая ширина должна быть в районе нижней головки шатуна ktm sx 85 03-17? Спасибо.
Thanks so much for the video really appreciate it..help me alot🎉Thanks
I was installing a new top end and thinking of making a similar video to explain this technique….the vertex piston clips are stupid hard to install unless you understand this method…then it’s a piece of cake.
Andrew, I’m doing some work on my 200 and ive got some questions about what I’m seeing behind the clutch basket. Where did you find your service manual? Thanks for all the videos
one of those backed out on my 2022 250 exc tpi at 150 hours. Destroyed the cylinder and I bought 300 factory kit. And when I sent the crank to be rebuilt 4 other screws were loose too
Vertex shows just a damn thumb pushing that mfer in. BS. Quick and concise video. 🤘
Wow! Very good to know. Would you happen to have the link for these? I've tried searching but can't seem to find out where to get these cases. Thank You.
Whats the side to side clearance tolerance on these 200?
converted to inches, it is .025" to .030"
You won't find a better job done anywhere.
You are way too kind. It was great seeing you at the awards banquet!!!
Wow, let's hope this is the exception. 🙄Glad to see you're still getting your hands dirty. 😃
Yes sir, hope this is not a trend!!! Yes, i cant stay out of the shop!!! Was good seeing you back in January!!!
Nice QC, KTM!
Nice work!
Thumb saver!!
Good catch!
Must have used the good lead hammer!
HA!!! yes sir, just like JK taught us!!!
Better than OEM! Well done Andrew!
Hey thanks fornthe video, I have a question for you, have you ever had to file rings down on vertex pistons? The end gap came .008" and if I'm correct ktm spec is .016" I read on a forum the vertex is claiming .017" But I've had people tell me they have never had to file a ring down on a 2stroke and I'm second guessing the ring measurements.. I filed one down to .017" the other ring I took to much off. It's at .022🤦♂️ haha so I orderd a new ring from ktm and it came .008"... Any advice would be greatly appreciated Thanks!
Where can I get this tool. I bought one from rmatv but it is too big. I need a smaller size
nice shot of your knuckles
Very true... It's kindof a crappy vid!
Can you do this with the crank locked at TDC?
If there is no clutch, piston position does not matter
This is the worst part of a top end rebuild! I can't do this without feeling like I am about to lose a finger or two 😂
Hey andrew, bearings what is brand
Awesome work as always!! The KTM community is lucky to have such a great resource as you Andrew!!!
tip with the tang breaker. hold the little metal directly onto the tang, then use a small hammer, very light. and make a swift quick smack. think like when you tear a paper towel off of a roll. how a quick movement tears it easier. same thing with the tang. quick smack.
everybody shows to install but not removed it
Would have loved to see how he got it to those numbers rather than just showing those numbers.
You're hand is in the way
Two things. I don't have a drill press, thinking about giving this a go. Should be ok without one right? Also, never taken the inner clutch cover off before. Would be cool if you could go over the correct way to remove it. Draining the fluids and all that to get it off
great video. i record it for sons, i succed in removing the gummed up flap rod with fuel system cleaner and alen screw 5mm, 3 hours after trying with other tutorials, the secret where to remain in place the two flap axle but untightened
Does this work for the newer electric start bikes 2015 XC-W?
Yes, these cases are IDENITCAL to what came on your 2015 200. Same part number.
Hey Andrew what year 150 engine case works with a 2007 200 xcw
Hey Michael... 2014/15 KTM 150 SX cases... Part number is 52430000033. You need the ignition cover too.
@@andrewcooksey2255 So my 2013 200xcw guts and top end will fit onto and on top this SX case? And still have my electric start?
@@braaaphawaii It is the IDENTICAL center cases to what came on your 13 200.
@@andrewcooksey2255 Right on thanks for the info!
Thank you for posting this was very helpful.
Thanks for making this video. It will help me when I do this on my Yamaha even though I think it has screws instead of rivets. Everything else should be similar. Thanks again.
Andrew, finally getting around to getting the motor back together with the crank you did for us and low and behold, the kickstart gear seemed to be rubbing. Sure enough, you have a video to solve the problem !.. Thanks bud !
Yours would be a valuable opinion having to deal with the issues: what years/models of the KTM 2 strokes do you like the best?
How do you get that side cover off of the case ? Does it just come off with a couple of bolts or do you have to split cases to do this ?
I'm looking for piston diameter 47,5mm with 12 or 13mm pin for Fantic motorcycle engine, please
Mine is knocking pretty loud would this cause that?
Could be!
mine was knocking super loud, i found out the nut was loose so i tighten that back up and it went away
You are a godsend bro! this literaly just happened to me on a ride and my brother delt with a similar issue on his kdx 200, hopefully my fix is as simple as yours..I have exactly the same symptoms..
Awesome job!
Can you use the kickstarter idler gear temporarily if you don't have a 2nd primary gear?
Nice work!!
nailed it!
I have a 03 125 sx with a recently fresh top end. When I did the top end, I didn't want to tear the power valve assembly apart. Well I got the bike back together and notice the low end power feels weak. Once the power valve opens it seems to operate well with strong power, but until then it's quite underwhelming. It feels like it's staying closed, when it should be opening gradually with increasing throttle input. I did mess with the power valve adjustment hoping to fix it that way. Unfortunately it did not fix the issue, so it looks like I'll be tearing it apart to clean and inspect the power valve assembly. I'm thinking the pv timing may be off.
Mark, thanks for the comment. It sounds to me like the PV actuator may not be engaged (ball end, into forked end), and the PV is stuck in the open position. Your thoughts please?
Thank you so much!!!! I have been looking for this exact type of video for months I cannot possibly express how much this has helped. God bless you!
Looks like it did not get enough oil mixes in the petrol
