I miss when they went into actual studios. The recording quality and mixes have suffered. I think they could benefit from a good outside producer pushing them too. Anyway, this is my fav album of all time and i love these vlogs.

Ladies and Gentleman, you know him; you love him; you've seen him on stage with us. And now here it is an official *new* member of Dream Theater, Mr Mike Portnoy!

Thank god I drew up in a time when such wonderful vocal harmonies were the norm.

Like the song, but hate the lyrics. I've just created a spreadsheet to dispel the notion mass murderers are loners (mass murderers are 95% as likely to have ever been married as the average person, and that might be a low figure as not all marriages of mass murderers are known), let alone autists. The lyrics just say he was a danger to himself, but the notion that loners are prone to delusions or are maniacs is not true. A lot of people who experience delusions are on drugs, which is usually of social origin. I understand this is part of the suite of songs about inner turbulence (and thus the boy needed to have delusions as someone experiencing something turbulent), and I haven't analyzed the lyrics for the others. Maybe it is justified in this context, which is why I don't outright hate the song.

I love how the drummer is always happy & smiling, every time I'm at work I get to hear a fantastic concert with some of the best musicians in the world.

I so remember watching this in my 🚗, i was a bit cold 🥶 at the time, it got me through the night or day for that matter

Thank you for sharing this. I was thinking about Gilmour and Wright tonight, found this link, and was able to submerge myself in the magic that they made together. So far as I'm concerned, David Gilmour is one of the best guitarists of all time. And the world lost someone very special, very talented, when Rick Wright died of cancer in 2008. Shine you, both of you crazy diamonds.

Kevin was the fog/dry ice side of DT. They lost their theatrics when he left.

I always wondered why the last F note was so quiet at the end of this album compared to how loud it is on Octavarium. Now I know why lol
