Hello everyone! If you stumbled upon my channel through a rabbit hole, let me tell you what this channel is all about. I love picking up junk off the side of the road. I also love scrapping metal for extra cash in my pocket. One other thing I really enjoy is melting and casting metal. That's how the channel started. Unfortunately, I'm not allowed to melt metal here at the shop anymore. Half the channel content was melting and casting metal, so I had to come up with another way to create content for you all. I love collecting coins and searching for coins. Therefore, I started a new series called "Coin Roll Hunting Pennies".
I buy a box of pennies from the bank every week and search through it. I show everything I find worth showing and even have a Penny Album that I'm trying to fill. I also hoard all copper cents. I still scrap metal and do teardowns on camera every week as well. Check out my channel and if you want to stick around, please subscribe. - Scrap2Cast

Drill trick is great I’ve used that for fire wire all the time
@@usmanlyfe3921 Thanks a bunch! Definitely a handy trick I like to keep in my back pocket for those rainy wire stripping days. Thanks for watching and commenting 🙂🍻
Random Question. do you still have any of the pieces of this microwave?
@@Jedibrickboy Unfortunately I do not as I scrapped this particular model out about 3 years ago. What kind of parts are you looking for?
@@Scrap2Cast do you happen to know it's model number or and other info?
@@Jedibrickboy Yup you are in luck! I just checked some of the raw video footage prior to editing. It is a Sharp R-3A55 microwave manufactured in 1994. I'll even go a step further and provide you a link to the service manual to that actual microwave. www.manualslib.com/products/Sharp-R-3a55-3262018.html Hope you find the parts you are looking for 🙂
Great! I have many machines like that!
Awesome, hopefully you get a bunch of copper as well!
Excellent scrapping techniques and great editing job. This was great to watch!
Thank you so much! 🙂🍻
Scraping machine???? What machine is it???
You can find it on Amazon, just do a search for “automatic wire stripping machine” I think they are going for $150 USD
Πια είναι η μηχανή απογύμνωσης καλώδιον ?
It’s a good stripping machine
What’s up my friend, how’s life been treating you? Much love brother, be well. 👊🏻☮🥃🥃🍻
Hey brother! Life is busy but good! Hoping to get back to making videos soon! 🍻🙂👊🏼
@@Scrap2Cast busy is good my friend. Glad to hear, one more week and then off off to the deer woods for a 9 days can’t wait. 👊🏻☮👍👍
@ heck yeah bro. Hope you get a big one!
As you probably discovered, aluminum bronze sounds like it should be easy to machine, but it is a bugger.
Oh it’s definitely hard to work with!
Respirator is good, don't worry about eye protection 😂😂😂
🤣 Eyesight is overrated anyways 😜
For some reason, I was under the impression that the crucible was supposed to be warmed up prior to putting in the melt material
@@RobertSmith-xf6fh nope you can fill the crucible cold and heat it up with materials already inside.
Its really cool, I have loved brass and you took it too a level to people may want to invest in.
@@jimd1968 thanks so much! Like you, I also love brass! One of my favorite metals to micro-scrap for. Those plugs really do add up after awhile and so do the pins from them 😁
@@Scrap2Cast I used to collect belt buckles when I was a kid and I always went for the brass buckles. Brass reminds me of gold and I have been always been a fan of Brass. So keep those videos coming and maybe sell some of your bars.
@@jimd1968 funny you mention that, I have a belt buckle and knuckles vids on the channel 😁. I did actually sell off the bars a little over a year ago, but I’ll be making more in the near future!
@@Scrap2Cast Ewwwh I must look
@@Scrap2Cast I am a new sub, and looking forward to your work.
New to casting, I’m interested in melting down the piles of brass keys I have laying around but recently read that many brass products also contain lead- is there a way to safely melt these down without possibly getting lead poisoning? I only ask because my 3 year old often assists me in my projects and I wouldn’t want to potentially expose her
@@TheHobbyistT I highly recommend melting outside and wearing a respirator. As a locksmith, I can confirm that keys do have lead in them. Melt the keys on a low furnace setting, it will eliminate some (not all) of the white smoke. Scoop out the slag as it melts down. Repeat the process a few times during the melt to get the brass nice and clean. I have a few other melting vids on my channel in regards to melting down keys. Check em out if you have a chance. 🙂
@@Scrap2Cast Thank you for the information! Luckily I do all my melting outside, I will definitely need to pick up a respirator. I fully intend on watching as many of your videos as possible!! 😁
@@TheHobbyistT you’re welcome bud and thanks for your support!

Keep on showing the melting process. Its one of the best parts! Great work!
Thanks a bunch! Sadly my boss said I can’t melt at work anymore but hoping to find a new spot in the near future!
It was cool
@@skibro1965 thank you!!!
Grt zinc bar how do I contact u as I need to now zinc melting process
Just melt on a low furnace setting. When you see white smoke, its heated up to much. The white smoke is zinc oxide and very hazardous to breathe in. Be sure to use a proper ventilator

Hi my name is Ed I am ex Scrapper here in Scarborough Ontario and I found a hoverboard that is freaking heavy how much would I get at scrap for it and where can I get a cable to see if it still works thank you very much
@@eddiemuise4791 it honestly depends on what it is constructed of and if the motor windings are copper versus aluminum. You can buy a power cable for it on amazon. Just confirm the voltage before purchase.
Hi I know it's a bit late to comment, but where did you buy that wire stripping machine from? I have lots of copper wire I been saving for stripping but I'm stumped on what is the best machine to get, so hopefully you can send me in the right direction (?) I really like how simple this machine looks like in the video.
@@reddemmamudirini7332 never too late to comment! I bought it off Amazon. Just do a search for “automatic wire stripping machine” and a whole bunch of vendors that sell that model will pop up. Its sold by many diff vendors who slap their own brand / model # on it but I assure you they are all the same. Used mine for over 4 years now and it still works great 🙂
@@Scrap2Cast thanks 👍 will check it out
Did you heat your mold at all? Also how well did they separate?
Yes, I always preheat my molds. It fell right out of the mold with ease.
Does it have any tonal properties? Like if you make a thin wafer and hit it with a drumstick. I have been collecting copper from the trash at work, building a decent collection.
Wondering if i could make a cymbal out of it😊
Absolutely! I’ve casted thin bars before and depending on thickness, they have their own unique tone! The thinner the better in my opinion 🙂
I don’t see why not!
Can you help with materials I can obtain zinc scraps from
Residential door locks have zinc in them. The door handles are made of zinc.
Dammit! I was watching just to see how you separated the wheels from that second one. It's just like the one I'm doing but can't get wheels to separate. That first one you did was easy.
Honestly I can’t for the life of me remember how I scrapped the 2nd one. I might have the raw footage still buried on my computer somewhere. I’ll give it a look this week and comment back if I find it.
Happy Friday evening brother 🍻👊🏻☮ You doing ok and holding it together in your part of the world? Be well be good be blessed my friend 👍🤝☮
Hey bro! Yup I’m still around just halted production for awhile! Been saving $$$ for a newer van and my 2nd income is taking up a bunch of my free time. Thanks for checking in! 😎👊🏼☮️
I've been getting into brass casting myself 😊. This might come across slightly odd, I'm genuinely curious.... You mentioned casting a new set of tongs out of bronze, will you be able to use them on the crucible, considering you're 1100°C and higher at the base and that heat transfer during a pour? Interesting to know because I've been keen to have more control on my setup during a lift and pour, I had assumed it would need to be iron or steel to use?
Yes they will be fine to use. The tong material will be pretty thick so it wont really melt on contact.
love the "fuck you" hat, just need a grateful dead t shirt and 9 air plane bottles of Kalhua
Lol thanks, one of my fav hats!
What happened to the Freon? I never see how they safely remove the gas
The unit had a pinhole in the ACR prior to me picking it up off the side of the road. All the freon was depleted before I started tearing it down.

A baked core for the the bore and vertical casting with a longer sprue at top will a nice barrel. Works for me

You made your very own Copper Ingot from Minecraft! Will you try to make Lasko's 1990s box fans with butter knife shaped blades and 6-pole motors in the future?
I’ll get right on that….
I like the video and been scraping and making bars but no local scrap yards will buy them even with a video of me melting wire and they have a metal analyzer they said there buyer won’t take it and I can’t sell it on marketplace so I have just been keeping it in 5 gallon buckets for now
You can sell them on eBay for a higher profit if you want to go that route. If you have a large supply of them, you can look into working directly with a foundry and see if you can unload them that way. Personally I would only melt down #2 copper and sell your #1 copper as-is.
@@Scrap2Casti melted all rotten ground wires that the scap said he would give me less then #3 and I had 50lbs of it

You can break the plastic of at one end and slide it off too, although this really only works with cheaper brittle plastic spools.
