Praefects specialize in hunting and killing tyranids. 10th edition plot: War with Tyranids. This is practically a no brainer, they need to be an integral character in the narriative story. But where tf are they?

This isn't only from Darktide, but from the entire Warhammer 40k lore. PLEASE DO SOMETHING BESIDES HIVES. The Imperium has desertic, nuked, bunkered covered planets like Tallarn, the green hell of Catachan's jungles, the golden domes and cathedrals of Terra, abandoned space ships and massive space stations... Hell, even garden planets. I did a Dark Heresy campaign on a garden world, I remember how everyone was confused when I choose a green, nice forest and clear, blue sky white stone city for my Warhammer 40k campaign, but damn, it was a great campaign, full of nobles, inquistion and ministorum plots, zealots everywhere, and eldar agents creating chaos and confusion. Warhammer 40k it's full of lore. But everybody stays always in the same visual of a hive city, instead of exploring everything the universe has to offer.

One cool detail I notice is, in the 30 level cutscene, your character, when pointed by Rannick with his gun stands proud without even blink. Because our character is a loyal servant of the throne, and thus has nothing to fear from the Inquisition agents, but the traitor inmediately panicks. It's a cool detail. The game may not be as great as it could've been, but at least it certainly loves the lore.

So I actually managed to find the audiobook of this! And apparently they end up in Commorragh (no idea how to spell that).

I actually am starting an imperial knight army my own renegade house that specializes in killing tyranids because you know big mech suits and giant bug killing awesome and their home world was lost to the warp so they were a fleet based house for a time until they ended up landing and inhabiting a feral world where they would actually befriend some indagins that not only had an expedition on the world but even made a small community in it with a growing population with a minority group of ogryns. So based on my renegade houses lore they would team up and assist these indagin inhabitants in hunting and killing the many creatures on the feral world I set them on. I got the idea for making this renegade house like this from other works like monster hunter and of course tales of knights battling and slaying great beasts. I hope it’s an idea that warhammer fans alike would like and maybe even help expand because monster hunting specialists seems like a really cool neesh in a universe filled to the brim with galactic horrors and creatures.

the reason everyone always gives me for their love of old necrons was there was 0 lore for them, no literally they loved a faction he had no lore, no names, no character no anything, they were just a empty plotless loreless model you can stick down. the few I have met who are old cron fans who say there was lore was that the necrons were a reset switch made by the old ones as both revenge towards chaos and a way to reset the galaxy, aka the reapers from mass effect.

Too much personality isn't alwyas a good thing. Thing that makes 40k great is every faction has their niches. What does the modern world love to do now? SCREW ALL THOSE NICHES. Let's oversimplify everything and make it all the same while giving the illusion of more depth and character! Ever heard that something being mysterious and enigmatic can have depth by itself? There's more than one way to be deep and complex. A great writer knows how to handle those details well.

Only reason folks like the new Necrons is the fact that they have so much expansion on them and have become the common trend, whereas the old Necrons didn’t and GW didn't have the skill to expand their lore more subtly before the mighty Ward (Fucked be his name) rewrote their lore. There was so much more to the C'tan & Necrons than just being "Metal Tyranids" The Pariahs were living proof of that. An anti psyker army that would kill off the Psychic Races which would allow the C'tan to close the Eye of Terror (Which they have now appropriated to he Necrons. I guess it's nice to reuse good ideas from the old lore? Go figure.) Turning the galaxy into a haven for the C'tan to enslave and harvest the galaxy for eternity. Also, the Necrons being portrayed as sympathetic? Piss off. The way it was written originally, they were spiteful envious bastards that built macabre and depressing cities and wanted want the Old Ones had. Their greed and envy is what let them to being played for fools and locked into their metal tomb bodies forevermore. They got what they deserved and will now take their bitterness out on everyone. I'll take that over another "We got to reunite the Dynasties to their glory!" Give me a break. The only thing GW did was turn them into another shade of Eldar.

I think the reason the Oldcrons are as well remembered and romanticized by certain segments of the fanbase is because didn't overstay their welcome, the Oldcrons were pretty much one trick pony metal tyranids with less depth, pretty much every Oldcron story is just "we're on a planet when suddenly we discover hidden underground **The writer's dart hits Necrons instead of Genestealers or Chaos**, Oh No!!!" And that was fine for a couple of stories, but if they stuck around into the Modern day the fanbase would so fucking sick of them.

Nah, I prefer a good ripoff to bad lore. Not every faction needs to be humanised, least of all the necrons.

She is the vendor in the commissary (or the redemption Mk.1 if level 30) So i think she was planted and when in the mission, things went wrong (whether deliberately or accidentally) but she survived (maybe showing promise with logistics) so that would give her a level of clearance into the systems and also give her opportunities to warn her friends (the carnac twins) that your coming as its unsantioned so zola must of gotten supplies off her or the premium goods vendor (cant remember her name atm sorry) which meant an unsantioned attack was likely imminent (and piece 2 and 2 together she realised they are likely going after someone high up).

Me and my friend got this far, He was a Zealot that also wore green. So in my head his zealot constantly was under scrutiny due to his misplaced faith. which would allow the real traitor to go undetected.

Took me a moment to realise what that black empty void was when they opened the window shutters. The sharks spend most of their time patrolling above or below the galactic plain. What Utakk was staring at was Dark Space. The void between galaxies. Empty nothing

".. that makes me want to get a set of their models if they ever update them..." You know, I thought the same until I caught the last Battle Report on Warhammertv. In that battle they pitted Imperial Guard against the Kroot with their new rules. Naturally, the guard lost (typical, but I'd add that the only Catachan thing about that whole army were the miniatures- nothing on the board had the Catachan key word!), but it was a fun game to watch played out and I have to admit, the Catachan models really looked great. I broke down and purchased some that I found in Ebay and I was presently surprised! For such old sculpts, they were really nice and detailed. They were goofy and cartoonish in places, but as a rule they really grew on me as I assembled and painted them. My small platoon saw action this past Saturday and did fairly well. That Scout 6 rule really gets them into the midfield fast and tossing Straken with a squad into a Chimera and watching them plow into objectives with a murder of heavy bolter fire leading them was glorious. You should check them out!
