  • @allanwheale5392
    @allanwheale5392 วันที่ผ่านมา

    This is the biggest bunch of bs I have heard in years.....trying to make it sound like the thistles are some kind of benevolent creatures trying to help us. They are nothing more than an opportunistic pest. They grow anywhere they get a chance. My wife's garden, which is not at all compacted, has thistles coming back year after year.

    • @SoilWorksLLC-GSRCalcium
      @SoilWorksLLC-GSRCalcium วันที่ผ่านมา

      While they might seem like simple opportunistic pests, the idea behind the video is that weeds, including thistles, often thrive where soil conditions allow them to outcompete other plants. In compacted or nutrient-imbalanced soils, thistles find an opportunity because they can handle those tougher conditions. That doesn’t mean they’re “benevolent,” but rather that they can be indicators of underlying soil issues. Even in non-compacted areas, they can be aggressive, but understanding their growth patterns can help us manage them more effectively.

    Ive been implementing his ideas on my small 6yo orchard. I do what i can for cheap or free. I rottotilled the hardpack around my trees. Not suprising, there were no notable roots in the top 8 inches of the soil!!!!! . two weeks later the leaves turned bright green. Ive been amending as i can, next year is gonna be amazing. My apple tree is a differnt plant after 3 months . More updates to come!

    You will know your soil is alive when you see a lot of worms in your raised beds. Weeds are growing out of place because that soil doesn't have calcium, carbon, phosphorus, etc!

      Our customer’s organic almond orchard is very much healthy. The focus here is on building robust soil health & structure, supporting microbial life, and maintaining high BRIX levels. These practices ensure that even in a single-crop system, the soil is vibrant, balanced, and capable of sustaining long-term productivity. It’s not just about what you see above ground; it’s about the thriving ecosystem below the surface. But no worries - we can agree to disagree.

      Just so we’re on the same page, are you criticizing this TH-cam Short (limited to <60secs) from the longer Conference & Field Walk video (40mins) it’s linked to… because the Short doesn’t include a definition of compaction? Or is this your first time experiencing the word in this context and probably seeing a penetrometer for the first time? Or 🧌

    • @emerogork5376
      @emerogork5376 5 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @@SoilWorksLLC-GSRCalcium Compaction is the focus of the video. It is clearly stated in the first sentence. Apparently you do not understand it either.

      Glen further defines compaction and explains the use of the penetrometer starting in the first five minutes of the longer Conference & Field Walk video that we produced and share for free. The link to that video is in the description of this Short if you want to watch it. No worries either way. We’re experts at understanding how soil works and are also learning we shouldn’t assume every TH-cam viewer understands how TH-cam works. Happy to help.

    Will it help to add molasses when plant goes into reproduction?

    • @SoilWorksLLC-GSRCalcium
      @SoilWorksLLC-GSRCalcium 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes, adding molasses when your plants enter the reproductive stage can help. Molasses feeds soil microbes, boosting nutrient availability, especially calcium and phosphorus, which are critical during this time. It also supports higher BRIX levels, which are key for plant health and resilience. And it probably goes without saying that having a high BRIX before reproduction is pretty important, too.

  • @daphneraven6745
    @daphneraven6745 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

    You can’t test anything that you want. But if you don’t test the newer growth, I don’t know if you’ve used a certain nonmovable nutrients. A plant has some nutrients that I can move around, so your old growth may be getting robbed so that the plant can continue to grow, and some of the nutrients are not so mobile. So once they’re used up, they are used up. Testing older growth leaves won’t tell you about that if you don’t test the new leaves. Kind of makes you wonder what people actually knew about growing food or anything else, before this. How are professors do anything at all about the plants? They were growing, except for symptoms, which they were constantly checking.

    So the un inhabited hills of Scotland are comoacted? By a deer that walked thru last year? Weeds are juat a plant growing in the wrong place (according to human ideas of the wrong place) most olants will thrive in healthy aerated soil, some species are 'pioneers' that colonise new ground and tolerate very poor soils. I used to dump out my hydroponic tank in the garden and some weeds grew huge, plenty of Ca and P in the solution, weeds seemed to love it. (Goal was to avoid using drains amd turn the leftover solution into biomass instead of polution).
