    Okay, I had to come back to talk about point number 1 again. Vampires are undead. Undead creatures don't have a functioning circulatory system, their hearts no longer pump blood. I mean, even if he eats first, that blood is just gonna sit in his useless Vampire tummy! And if the heart isn't pumping, nothing is 🤷

    Gale is her protector of her family. Peetah is the protector of katniss. Peetah is her savior in most situations. Where gale is the savoir to her family in most situations. So when the trap that gale created and coin deployed, shot any potential gale being more the someone she used to know.

    My take on why it’s not mentioned about the confederacy again is to lay the foundation of how he got in the army while lying as a 16y old n gaining his gift the charm n feel ppl out. (Southern hospitality- with the power to command army) then he ends up in mexico just to do the same thing. It’s foundation of who and where he’s from.

    For Katniss referring to herself in the third person, I dont think that was Collins making up another character's perspective just to get rid of it later on and forget the ONE line. I think Katniss, in snarky tern fashion, referred to herself in the third person. Like, when I read that line, I read it as Katniss reflecting on herself and her knowledge or lack of the arena.

    I can never ship Edward/Bella specifically because Edward is NOT in love with Bella. If you read midnight sun, he doesn't think she's particularly attractive or interesting UNTIL he can't read her thoughts. And he's regularly derisive of girls who think he's hot/attractive/etc in his own head. He projects his ideal woman onto Bella because he can't read her thoughts, while she's thinking all the same things as the girls he spews his thought-misogyny all over. And arguably, Bella isn't in love with Edward, not really. Everything about him that draws her in is designed to lure prey to a predator. (Smells good, looks attractive, voice is almost hypnotically beautiful.)

    The reason the love triangle doesnt feel like a real love triangle is bc Suzanna didnt write it in the original manuscript. Her agent said no publishing house was going to buy such a gruesome YA book. Since Twilight was peaking at that time, Suzanne decided cram in a love triangle. Though her agent still didn't think it was enough to hook a teen girl audience, she submitted the manuscript to publishers anyway. Once it sold, she was able to make it more clear that Gale is symbolic of how the violence of war currupts young men

    I love the methapors that you put into Peeta and Gale. If we go back to when Katniss and Gale were preparing to infiltrate President Snow's mansion, in the movie, Katniss left Peeta with Tigress. She didn't allow him to go with her to create a distraction because she wasn't willing to lose him again. In the movie (I can't remember if she also did this in the books), Katniss also gave nightlock pills to Peeta in case of anything happens and he doesn't want to be held captive again by the capitol. If we were to put the metaphors in, it made it seem that Katniss was willing to lose everything besides her conscience as if that's the only thing that she was holding onto and she wasn't willing for her conscience to be stripped from her again but would rather for it to die on its own.

    Not really backwards. Even Katniss realized that the high score isn't a great thing in the first book. It's just a matter of being over the top. Like the difference of "having emergency supplies" and "hoarding". One is good, the other is not. It went from "That's a tough opponent" to "Must. Kill."

    11:10 I mean, as an adult I didn't realise he meant it romantically (or at least not in a fully realised way) until just now. But, as is also a popular headcanon for Katniss, I'm too autistic for this shit. Edit: also very important (arguably more inportant) to note, her response was "yeah, in theory that would be great, but we're both responsible for our families, including my little sister who means more to me than anything in the world and would be grief stricken and likely starve without me". Even if she does take it as a romantic proposition (could argue it's kinda ambiguous), her answer is still no

    I think the spoon-feeding is to not be swayed by Snow's mental gymnastics. Like, "This is normal. It's fine." Then Suzanne comes with a wooden spoon and hits me with a take that screams "NO! THIS GUY IS THE! THE CORIOLANUS SNOW! DO NOT BE SCAMMED!" Even with that, I still needed to reread to get the full picture, because like the original trilogy, we have an unreliable narrator. And a charismatic self-righteous one at that. I honestly wasn't bored. I didn't want it to end. I wanted to know more about the world. As for the movie... It did not translate well without his internal monologue. People are so used to the Villain Origin Story that the movie felt like one. "He was betrayed by Lucy Gray so he (truly, no backsies) became eeeeeevil" is what I see from watching movie reactions. No, that's not it. I think the movie tried its best to show that it was Snow's choices that "made" him evil, and not Lucy Gray's, but he was always doing the "right thing" so it never really showed his evil capacity. The rose bud was always in him. And he made all the choices that made it bloom. He liked that it did, and made Panem his garden.

  • @keittykit
    @keittykit 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Those who complain about the "love triangle" are probably movie-watchers first before diving into the books. The movies were marketed as YA romance. And that marketing fed on the "Teams" to get audience. (Which actually got some people who would probably enjou it NOT watch it because "it's another teen love triangle") The books are not. It's YA dystopian. There's a romance aspect, but the point is a girl trying to survive and protect the people she cares about. The romance part was only a reflection of her life choices and not the other way around.

  • @keittykit

    I don't think your Renesmee story would work because of the protector thing and gravity thing. Unless that's retconned. They can't be apart. Also, Resuscitation is very conscious and quite possessive of Jacob so even if he wanted to leave, I don't think Regulator will let him. I'd be fine if the platonic protector thing works out for 20 regular human years and she falls in love with the other half-vamp. Make it a love story about them. EDIIIIIIT: I MADE THIS COMMENT BEFORE YOU PULLED THE LEAH THEORY.

  • @keittykit
    @keittykit 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

    If you're not gonna subscribe to the venom fluid theory, let me present the marble theory (Idk how it's really called). Edward is like a statue, right? So technically... It's always hard, right? 😐 Yeah. So that's why he didn't need blood for it. As for the 'expansion' needing to happen with the blood, idk. Maybe he's a show-er, not a grower.

    I interpreted the songbird and snake as Coriolanus and Lucy Gray respectively, because those were the tools they used and it makes you examine biases. Songbirds are seen positively, even though Coriolanus used a jabberjay to get Sejanus executed. Lucy Gray is generally pretty kind and loving, despite how we view snakes negatively. The songbird is a beautiful evil, while the snake is a mistrusted good.

  • @LRCh_
    @LRCh_ 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

    I think we're unfairly biased against Katniss's mom by the limited perspective. It's fine for Katniss to be unfair, she's 16 (11 when the stuff she's mad about actually happened). But we're adults, and we know her mother's depression after her husband's death is NOT HER FAULT. Do we think the Katniss who had just lost Peeta would do any better? The mom spends the whole series shielding Katniss when and how she is able, doing the best she can, and I think it's sad that so many readers ignore that.

    I don’t have much to add besides how Katniss knows the parachutes are bombs is because she was there when gale suggested it. They both betray each other in that scene, katniss doesn’t shoot to kill him when the peacekeepers grab him and gale played a huge part in killing her sister. When her sister was gone and snow and coin were both dead, her ties to anger were gone and so was gale. Also I think Snow and tigress is a parallel to Katniss and Gale. What each end of the extreme can lead to.

    I really enjoy your analyses, and I love the effort you put into your perspective rant, BUT in that passage, Katniss is sarcastically quoting the previous line from Beetee "I think Katniss's point is..." science science science. And she thinks 'No, Katniss's point is a lot simpler than that.' I think it's pointing out the way men will refer to women in third person when those very women are PART OF THE CONVERSATION TOO, BEETEE.

    I don't think there would be anything wrong with it if it were strictly a "Godfather" situation-a mentor and protector type of scenario. Granted, it would still be problematic since Bella and Edward weren’t asked; however, it’s relatively tame, especially since Bella would most likely have done so. But given that it goes far beyond that and is much deeper, it leaves a bad taste in people’s mouths, regardless of how she tries to justify this problematic relationship. The series ends somewhat anticlimactically, largely because Stephanie left the possibility open for continuing the story. Jacob could have been a main character, and it could have been his love story, obviously with someone more appropriate, even if it were just another hundred-year-old vampire.

    • @meredithnovaco
      @meredithnovaco 14 วันที่ผ่านมา
