it doesnt sound like ur into old JRPGs. or it could just be my disposition but i am the type to explore everywhere afraid of missing some hidden area or hidden treasure. if i feel like going left is the right way, i'll purposely go right. so i've never needed a guide back when i played those games. once u've explored all the area u've never been to, theres no way u wont know where not to go or get stuck. old RPGs like that will throw up invisible walls if ur not suppose to go there yet.

Okay so Imy game keeps crashing on imperial infiltration after I beat high wind it forces me back to iris at camp and it crashes every single time so sad first time playing and cliffhangered hard

I love this! As a guitarist, I can't tell you the times I've taken inspiration from the themes of FFVII and of course from Nobuo Uematsu. I remember hearing Avalanche by Still Remains and I instantly knew it was about FFVII. It blew my mind in High School knowing there were other metal heads into jrpgs too Also you guys are fuckin sick! Definitely downloading your EP now

I nearly dropped FFX. The story was great but the combat was so SLOW! I forced myself to finish it because it was leaving Game Pass and Ink ew I wouldn't buy it.

Played visions on a ps5 so can't say for steam deck sorry, but I genuinely recommend you get back into it somehow if possible. It's a genuinely good game that lives up to the mix of experimental gameplay and storytelling the mana series was known for. Sometimes that means the series falls, but it flies this time.

As someone who absolutely LOVES Xenogears who holds this game so dearly in my heart (it’s MY #1 game of all time IMO)… and I have so much emotional attachment to it… HOW DARE YOU... Kidding😂. Nah but seriously I understand. There’s no such thing as a “perfect game” and everyone likes what they like, not everything’s gonna fit everyone’s needs and wants. And I’m sure there will be games that I won’t like but certain mass majority would. I completely understand the camera aspect issues… I dunno if you went to Babel Tower LOL. One issue that I had with the game personally were certain pacing issues like the Nortune/Kislev portion of the game which I think showcased how long each “section” was initially meant to be (until Square rushed the staff) especially since it seemed every other character’s story with the exception of Fei, Elly, Bart and Rico was so shortened compared to the aforementioned location for better or worse, the Kislev section could be a tad shorter IMO while Emerald’s could’ve been fleshed out more. When I first played the game (while being a lot younger) I almost lost interest in the beginning cause it seemed slow until I heard the masterful tune from the music box (Faraway Promise) by the great Yasunori Mitsuda which help peaked my interest to stay on. As I get older and look at the game more subjectively there are more cracks on the surface but this game regardless I still regard it as MY #1 all time favorite game EVER and your opinions are your opinions and they are just as valid.

I'd highly suggest a change of heart over Xenogears. While many think it's "incomplete", that's kind of part of the poetic genius of it all. It's a masterpiece that financially could not live up to it's own ambitions during development. It's a masterclass in sound design, too.

Chrono Trigger is not only the best RPG ever made, it's the best game, period. How you can't follow the most well written story ever made on video games? The game has 12 or 15 different endings, no matter what you do! Close your channel

Dropping Xenogears and Chrono Trigger sounds just wild to me, these are some of the greatest games ever created.

Hey John, how dare you drop Chrono! LOL no worry there! I managed to beat Xenogears some years ago, but it was not the easiest to beat for sure! Mostly I drop game because I get side tracked, but I want to go back to them, but often, when I get back to them, don't remember much of them and I need to start back! Here some I can think of, that I really need to go back to... Xenoblade Chronicle, The Legend of Heroes - Trails in the Sky, Final Fantasy, IX, X and XII, Octopath Travelers 2. All good games, just need to take the time and go and beat them!!

I get it, but will say that some of my favorite games of all time were ones I didn't initially enjoy. I hated Trails in the Sky on first play because it is super text heavy. When I later played it and finished it... wow... still a top 10 game for me.

I dropped Chrono Trigger ds version recently for the same reason, I hate when I have to reference guides constantly. I also thought it was boring with the party almost never talking to each other. Like the moment a party members becomes permanent they just cease to exist. The mc almost never speaks as well. I also dropped Lufia 2 for the guide reason as well, and the time skip was the final nail in the coffin.

Totally agree with vesperia being an is that it!? Far from the best in the series, symphonia, eternia, graces, hearts. There are soooo many better tales of games. Don’t get the hype..>

Nice video. I haven't played any of these yet but there's still a few I do want to play. I so want Xenogears to get a remake or remaster as also being from the UK, I don't think I can do emulation so I don't have that much hope in playing it.

Xenogears. You can remap the controller with emulation. The camera is tough cause it’s just a bit too zoomed in. That’s why the compass is essential to keep track of where you’re going. There’s also mods that work great. The Perfect Build and HD textures My 17 year old son played earlier this year and it became is favorite game of all time. My 18 year old is currently playing through and is loving it. Maybe it doesn’t click with you and that’s that. The story and vibe are something to behold and if that’s not it for you, maybe it just never will. A remake is very unlikely for a lot of reasons but never know!

I'm from a PAL region like yourself so I've never played Xenogears and my first time and Chrono Trigger was the 3DS. I completely agree that they need some sort of Remake or Remaster, without the Nostalgic element there for players like us, I find modernisation and quality of life updates would really help bring a new audience to these classic titles.

Yeah, honestly Xenogears fans have a little of copium in their veins when it comes to talking about xenogears gameplay, the game certainly aged worse than other ps1 JRPGs.

Dropped FFX, Trails in the Sky, and Xenogears. Valkyrie Profile, not because I want to drop it, it's just when I'm playing it, I became so busy that I never get back into it. And my classmate borrow my CD and then it's gone so yeah lol. The others I only manage to complete because I have lots of free time and don't have something to do otherwise I will drop them in a heartbeat. Those are Chrono Trigger and Octopath Traveler. Man they are so boring. At least Octopath's battle is quite engaging. Chrono Trigger is such a waste of time (this is my personal preference just in case fans attack me lol).

Eiyuden was mid tbh and I did finish it. Chrono Trigger took me 3 times before I beat it.

Eiyuden chronicles, had problems, but i loved it!!! And Xenogears, i played it upon release it was amazing then.

Can't blame you for dropping Granblue. I didn't like the structure either. I wanted a genuine RPG... not something akin to Monster Hunter. Still, the combat was fun and so I decided to platinum it... which turned out to be a nightmare to pull off. Trying to acquire all of the Terminus weapons about drove me mad. But then I went on to get the platinum in Eiyuden Chronicle... and that was an even BIGGER nightmare to platinum! But credit to Eiyuden - despite what a chore it is to fully 100% and platinum it, the game itself is an utterly solid RPG. Sorry to hear it played terribly on Switch. Try the PS5 version. It really is a solid game.

I think if you would play these older games on a crt tv with original hardware it would be a whole nother experience. Playing these games on emulation with thousands of roms available sucks the soul and fun out of these games.

You know what, I was playing Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes and I'm waiting for the game to get "fun" for me but then the game just end. Wish the next game could flesh out the gameplay more.

I don't say "gave up" I say "plan to get back to someday..." For me it's Octopath 1 and 2, Bravely Default 1 and 2, Final Fantasy 7 and 13. Edit: On the subject of Chrono Trigger, I totally understand the awkwardness of a game that's been hyped beyond reality and it not living up to expectations. For me that was Undertale.

Gulp here’s my 5 😅 Chrono Trigger, Harvestella, Dragon Quest XI, FFXII, and Stranger of Paradise. None of these worked for me, and I know Chrono Trigger is a really hot take but it just isn’t for me I guess 🤷🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️ I gave it like 10 hours of play Edit: omg I just got to the part where you also dropped Chrono trigger and I feel justified I’ve never seen anyone else say it haha

Xenogears is god awful as a video game. The tryhard philosophical writing and script doesn’t help its case one bit.
