It makes me very happy that you enjoy the more “researchy” references and the fact checking! ♥ For me, a fun side effect of researching things for the sidebar notes has been gaining a better context of the timing of some of the things they talk about, whether it’s SPN-related or not. In this case, Jared would have been about 6 years old when that study came out. I could imagine that while he was still young, maybe he heard a teacher or a parent talk about it and it stuck with him through adulthood and influenced him to some degree. Pure speculation of course, but I have fun thinking about that kind of thing.

The fan who compiled it has been digging up all the convention panels they can find that Jared and/or Jensen participated in and putting them in playlists in chronological order. It's a work in progress, but they've found videos I never came across on my own and they've been a great resource for my project. The quality on those will likely be poorer than most of the videos I've edited so far. The ones I've worked on were mostly attended by AgtSpooky who has some AMAZING stealth video skills. She recorded videos that were more complete and a better quality than what was the norm for these earliest conventions. I've used other sources, but I've used her videos the most.

Thank you so much! I’ve had fun cleaning these old videos up. I’m very glad the references have been helpful to you! The truth is that many of their references go over my head too, even though I’m from the U.S. and similar in age to Jared and Jensen. I don’t watch much TV or see many movies. Doing the research for my videos has helped me understand them better myself and I’ve had a lot of “Oooh, that’s what they meant!” moments.

@DetailTilted 🤭🤭🤭 they've great knowledge about music/films references and I gape at them and smile kind of stupidly all the time... I learned American English from them, actually. Watching convention videos have not only helped me to know more about modern American English vocabulary but also about their accents... I don't need captions anymore. If the audio quality is good, I can understand... I can almost guarantee you that they've never thought that their conventions can be an English teaching program for foreigners! 🤣 it's awesome that we're both learning different things from them... thanks again 💙

Thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed it! ♥ CHICON 2008 was the first set of videos where I had the chance to try to edit different angles together. I had a lot of fun with that, although it required some difficult choices. Their panels together are always fun to watch, but this was high up there on the list of fun ones. It must have been amazing to be there in person! I’m constantly in awe of how anyone managed to pay attention to recording videos, and keep from getting caught, while in the presence of such distractions. 😂 It's amazing to consider how long these videos have been in circulation, and how many years' worth of enjoyment people have gotten from them. I don’t think I’ve seen the more recent con yet where Jensen talked about waiting on Jared, but I still have some videos to catch up on so I’ll likely run across it eventually. It always makes me laugh when he makes that joke, though. He said it again at VANCON 2009. They had a brief debate at the end of the breakfast video that made me laugh. 🤣

LOL, yes, it’s fun to see the progression as they got more comfortable with them through the years! I kind of imagine they went into this one (their first ever “breakfast” panel) with no clue how they were going to entertain a group of fans for almost 25 minutes. 🤣

Thank you, I’m so glad the subtitles helped you understand it better! From what I read in the fan reports from this convention, the photo ops took longer than scheduled and that caused their panels to start late. Then they ran out of time for Jared’s panel because they had to do autographs. Some people said Jared and Jensen were being extra playful in the photo ops that day. I would imagine Jared was glad to get off the stage after that PETA question, though. In the process of editing the videos I end up listening to each part dozens of times, and I was very tired of that part by the time I was done! I try to give the fan the benefit of the doubt that it was just something she felt very passionate about and that she hadn't meant to sound as confrontational as she did. Either way though, that was not at all the right time or place for it. Jared did handle it very well though, and it made me happy to see Jensen throw in his support and help distract everyone by resuming his pita jokes. 🤣

Haha, I didn’t get “whore” out of that scene (i.e. offering sex for money), more of a hippie-style orgy leader, but you could very well be right that they intentionally mischaracterized it that way as a joke.🤣

It always makes me especially happy if people enjoy this particular video because it was the largest amount of work out of all the ones I’ve done so far. 😅 On the video, under Bruce Campbell’s picture, I actually have a blurb saying “Supernatural's producers originally wanted Bruce Campbell to play present-day John Winchester. See video description reference #4.” And then in my excessively long video description under reference 4, there’s a direct link to the part of that Inside of You video where they talked about that. I figure not everyone reads those little sidebar blurbs though - understandably so, since they could be staring at Jared and Jensen instead. 🤣 I had actually hoped the notes would be unobtrusive so people could ignore the ones they weren't interested in. Until I did the research for this video, I hadn’t known about that. Actually, I have to admit I hadn’t even known who Bruce Campbell was! I’ve learned all sorts of random pop culture things while doing these videos. It’s hard to image someone other than JDM in the role, but I guess we might be saying the same about Campbell if things had gone that way.

Ha, and then when I checked my video description to make sure the link was really there, I noticed I had a typo saying he was asked to play “present-day John Campbell”. Thank goodness that same typo wasn’t in my video itself, because I couldn’t change that! But I CAN (and did) fix my video description. I’m glad you brought it up!
