I love your videos! Could you do one for Easter 🐣 ? We are going to visit Iceland on April 2025 with your little 2 years old daughter, and it would be so nice to know some of the 🇮🇸 traditions
Awesome to hear, glad the videos have been useful! That's a great idea, I'll put it on the to do list to make an easter video, you'll love visiting over our easter season! 🇮🇸
Kindly, provide the link to these tours
We will be visiting extended family in Kópavogur, and will be there in time to try the kæst skata, but it is definitely something to be cooked outdoors🤢
Yikes! Let me know how it goes! 😅
Wow I want to visit Iceland for NYE!! I'm a vegetarian, is it difficult to find vegetarian food there?
Great question! Iceland food scene is very diverse and with high quality. We have lots of vegetarians here and all restaurants have fantastic vegetarian options :))
wow just saw this video. thought about booking last minute tickets but it's over 2,000 for a ticket on December 26.
We nearly did the same thing last year and begrudgingly started planning for this year. We bought tickets October 6 for $730 each. They had sat at $682 for months so we figured we needed to asap before they kept going up. And yep, I’ve been getting notifications about flights being between $1.5k-2k! So I suggest buying before October if you decide to go next year. Oh and I’m only talking about JetBlue/icelandair. Play was significantly less money but we figured after fees it wasn’t that much less and we’d rather book on an airline we are familiar with.
oh wow, yes the flights to Iceland (and I think most places) really increase as the dates get closer! Another option would be to go for Summer 2025 - of Christmas/NYE 2026 booked with more notice and less price? 👀 Whatever you end up doing, I'm sure you'll love it here in Iceland when you do visit 🥳
Now I have an image in my head of some Icelandic gorcery store commercial featuring Stekkjastaur checking out an entire shopping cart full of potatoes. : )
hahaha 😂
Got our party tickets, cant wait to celebrate my wifes birthday and new years eve with evryone!
And we can't WAIT to have you! 🍾
Where's the party link? You said down below but it was only the tours? I'm a new expat in town and that sounds like a fun time for my first NYE!
Ég er svo spenntur fyrir jólunum þá kem ég heim til íslands frá spáni. Andalucia er helvíti
Frábært!
We spent NYE in Reykjavik last (this) year. It was fantastic! Hope to do it again soon.
That's awesome to hear, glad you guys enjoyed it last time! 🥳
That was very helpful, thank you so much!
Glad it was useful! 🥳
Can u pls let me know if we can drive in December? In comparison to Jan n Feb is it manageable
As we say in our videos, it's not ideal to drive in winter here since the days are darker, winds can be strong and the roads can be icy. However, winter temperatures and weather fluctuate - so you can be lucky and land on a nice week or unlucky and encounter storms. And there is no way to know this beforehand. So always be cautious and don't go out in situations you re not comfortable in! Or just do day tours and let the pros worry about all that stuff and just enjoy! ☺️
Sláttur seem😢quite similar to Scottish haggis mixed with our black pudding. The big difference being that we add oats to both.
For sure similar!
My son is a VERY picky eater. How close in taste is Pylsur to an American hot dog? Is it more like that or a sausage?
Hard to say for someone who has not much experience with American hot dogs 😅 I would say similar but the condiments are a bit sweeter ☺️
What are your thoughts on snorkeling in March? I’d love to do it but not if the waters are super choppy and dangerous.
March is a mixed month, definitely not warm but not freezing. The water is always super cold so that will never change but they would not do a tour in unsafe conditions ☺️
Do wear a seinfeld puffy shirt
I feel like we need an explanation of the objects behind you. The storm trooper 😂😂😂
He's a part of the staff! He does the editing ☺️
Would you suggest visiting the secret lagoon or blue lagoon? i am coming there in a month
also which volcanic tour to do?
Hey! We really like both to be honest, Blue Lagoon is more of special occasion thing for us locals but we visit the Sky Lagoon perhaps 2-3 times a year ☺️
@@WakeUpReykjavik. if i were to only do one, which one should I?
Do you have one to one-private tour guides? Thank you 😊
Yes! Send us an email to info@wakeupreykjavik.com and we can discuss the possibilities!
When I went there 2 yrs ago, I only fell to the airport currency exchange. I just wanted a few Krona just in case. I used Apple Pay for everything. NEVER USED THE CASH LOL
If that's the only one you did great! Hope you liked Iceland 🇮🇸
@ loved it! Can’t wait to go back
Keep making the Icelandic videos. They are really helpful and well done.
Thank you so much, we really appreciate it 🧡
That’s why if it’s handmade and local people making it, they should not be charged taxes. This is a good incentive for local to make it locally instead of ship to another country. If they ship it to another country you can charge them for import taxes. This is fair.
A great point!
I arrive on December 25th and leave on December 27th. Am I cooked?
Hey, thanks for the video! Should the "december" discount code still be valid? I tried applying it to the snowmobile tour but it says "Code is not valid for items currently in the cart". Thanks!
Yes it should! We updated the Snowmobile tours a bit so we had to reset it, sorry about that - hope it works now!
I tried reading the sign in the clip when u mentioned read the signs for swimming... I failed to read the sign.
I visited Iceland and loved it. I did not get caught in any of these tourist traps. However, we did go to the Blue Lagoon, which everyone raves about. I detested it: it was hot, crowded, and smelly. Other than that I loved every thing I saw & did in Iceland!
Sorry, but it IS complicated lol😅
All the tours you suggested sound perfect for our trip! We have an extra day, do you have a tour in Sneifelaness as well?
Yes we do! With lunch at a local horse farm that is just sooo nice! See it here: wakeupreykjavik.com/tour/snaefellsnes-peninsula-iceland !
You are such a special presenter and a great representative of Iceland. Great job and wonderful personality.
Thank you so much 🧡 we really appreciate it ☺️
I’m coming next week 😍😍
No way! We can't wait to see you! 🧡
The best hákarl I've ever had was from Bjarnastaðir in Snæfellsnes! You should try to get your hands on it
The eyeball is my favorite part of svið. My sisters and I would argue over it. The tongue is the second best. Cheeks are amazing, too.
Slátur is so good! I like to sprinkle sugar on blóðmör.
I love all this food 😅 If fact, I miss gathering around with my family and eating it during the blót
It so nice right!
it's very useful i have a plan to go iceland but the big plan to live there and thank you so much
i live in southeast asia...middle of equatorial line,no winter,no summer,no spring,no fall...just heavy raining and average 38 celcius...it's Malaysia...but...i wish i could visit Iceland one day❤ my top tier country on the list...love you Icelanders!!!
The word meistari must have a very old origin, as the same word (mestari in Finnish) is used in Finland in a similar context. Mestari and meistari both translate directly into English as "master." Mestari is used both humorously and in its literal sense, though the latter is much less common.
You should send invitation letter for applying visa 😮😅
I heard that the hotel shower water might have a sulfur smell?
Yes! Since the hot water comes directly from the ground, nothing added and nothing taken out - so it's naturally and geothermal heated. With that, you can get a slight sulfur smell but that's just the hot water faucet ☺️
What a useless video it is.
I did the food tour this summer , I absolutely love it ❤❤
I am researching different countries to move to. Any advice on where to start? Iceland is a top contender for me.
Super helpful video man! Thank you✌️
How will be the driving conditions in December? Will it be too stormy or manageable
I just visited Iceland with a group operator from Greece. The 6 day trip was amazingly well organised by Nordix, the travel agency I booked the trip with. Having watched your videos helped me prepare efficiently for this last minute booking and arrive at Iceland as a pro traveller. Thank you so much for that! Your country and people are amazing. I can’t wait to return and try some of your offered experiences.
When I see a beautiful place with its own culture I stay away out of respect. I feel this way about Tibet, Japan, Iceland, and Disney World.
Do you also have vegetarian options or specialties for food from island ?😍
Yes we do!! Just note it as you book! ☺️
Would early April be considered winter? Looking to see the northern lights with milder winter conditions
Yes, although the daylight is longer, the weather is still unpredictable in April!
Only one tip required: establish a new credit card with a fully usable $10,000 credit line. Go to Iceland for five nights. ENJOY.
