How Expensive is Iceland? 🇮🇸💸 Food Cost, Accommodation, Transport Saving Tips!
Will be there in two weeks.
April
With my recent experience booking a northern lights tour prior to a katla ice cave tour was the wrong move and a waste of money...whole day katla ice cave tour ended at night time with bus stops at black sand beach and one of the southern waterfalls both stops had a clear view of the northern lights and due to the location was way better than what the northern lights tour had to offer. So my suggestion if you plan on ice caving at katla, do that first. The northern lights tours are 3-4 hours of driving around light polluted spots with a chance of not seeing them at all. But with the ice cave tour you at least for sure will experience what you pay for with a good chance of seeing the northern lights.
Is there any tickets left for nye party?
Where do you recommend to eat on nye. Hope I haven’t left it too late to book
Funny enough, the guy making this video is a distand relative of mine 😂
I will visit with my boyfriend end of January! The tips were super helpful. Thank you❤
watching all the "Wake up Reykjavic" videos sold me on visiting Iceland for few days last October, instead of taking the usual direct flight to Europe. I treated myself to the FANTASTIC food walk (with Karitas, who was super funny) and it was the highlight of my trip. I lucked out with the weather, visiting interesting places in Reykjavic, and meeting super nice people - and cats - everywhere :) I even learned a few words in Icelandic (to entertain the locals, who smiled when I asked things like "Hvar er kattakaffihúsið" - and answered in English ). Another very interesting FREE thing in Reykjavic (not far from that kattakaffihúsið) is the Einar Jonsson sculpture park. (And NO, Iceland actually was NOT that expensive. If you plan in advance- and pay online in your own currency- it is more affordable, even on a budget.) I'll be back soon. In fact, I'll probably make it a new habit to stop in Reykjavic for a few days, instead of taking those long, stressful direct flights to Frankfurt.
Solar Maximum period currently
I like her . I’ll be booking . I ski so I think my ski clothes and boots should be perfect x
These do and don’t are logical things for me lol but I suppose not for many others 😂
Weather sounds like North Carolina lol. 20s then 70s rain then shine
Thank you for the tips I’m on my way there in January for my bday. Do you have any hotel recommendations ?
I miss Iceland 🇮🇸
We've gone to the Sundlaug in Kópavogur, simply because it's close to our extended family members' house nearby. It has cold/hot plunges, a sauna and water slides in the main pool area.
Pretty much like Tennessee the weather is unpredictable one week it'll be 60 the next week could be 42
Don't wear shoes inside the house. So make sure you bring a pair of slippers going to someone's home
So far you are the the best teacher for iclandic
How cold will be in February
А ещё в Исландии нельзя есть желтый снег.
Wow that a lot beautiful and stuning place thanks 🧡, i'll put that all in my list
I'll add to the "don'ts" In this video. Don't come..
You can't afford a mic stand? We should donate one to you?
Thank you so much for being willing to share this. I love the landscape and hiking in Iceland. However, when I visits again next year, I really want to connect more with the culture. 🇮🇸
My husband & I are planning to go to Iceland middle of March 2025. Can you help us create a good itinerary for our 8 days there? We do not want to drive ourselves.
What months do you consider summer versus winter?
Thank you! the experience yesterday was amazing with Tom as our guide🙏
No way! Thank you so much for watching and joining in the fun 🥰
I’m impressed with your TH-cam channel! The content you’re creating is top-notch and incredibly informative, and the way you present your topics is really helpful for your audience. May I know what the next video will be about?
Hi! Your videos are very informative and helpful. I was wondering if you could provide any details on the eruption . My trip is next week and I’ve heard all sorts of things . Is it safe to be driving ?Are roads blocked ?
Thank you so much for watching! There is no active eruption and even when it was - it did not impact anything! ☺️
@ Wonderful! Thanks a lot .
I love watching your videos....hope to see u soon wen I get to iceland
And I hope to see you 🧡!
I was stationed in Iceland in the late 90's. Only made it to the Blue Lagoon. I need to return to check out the other natural springs/pools.
Please do!
Ms Gueny please tell us how they ferment the harkarl 🥰
That might be an interesting video! I'll add it to my list of topics ✍️
Will go to Iceland April 1st week. Is it possible to see northern lights. Will u plz suggest the time is ok for that.
How about any shops or resturants on Christmas eve, we are going to Akureyri in Northern Iceland - wondering if anyhthing be open and what to do if visiting?? Is it best to have an airbnb as can cook our own food?? Is this best?
Hey again! The same rule of thumb applies there, where we recommend checking in with hotel restauraunts and doing so now!
Unfortunately I didn't get to have the ice cream at cafe Loki at the end of August while on the tour. I did have the fermented shark and shot of Black death. Then on one of the tours, I had the tomato ice cream which is truly amazing. A must have.
Looking forward to my food tour with you guys 😊
And we to have you 🧡
I first went to Iceland years ago before it became a big tourist destination. It was April and still pretty snowy that year. One of the absolute highlights was going with my kids to Árbæjarlaug. We were staying in Elliðahvammur so it was close by. They had such fun and they really loved swimming around with snowflakes on their heads and diving under the water to warm up. Magic.
Oh wow, that's awesome to hear! Glad you were able to visit - and visit Árbæjarlaug!! Glad you guys enjoyed it 🥳
Gudny is such a babe ❤
You're the first icelandic content creator who doesn't just lie the entire video
Haha thank you! 🤩

I spend 3 days in Iceland last October, I loved it, surelly I will be back! Thanks!
We would LOVE to have you! 🧡

Hi! Can’t wait to celebrate New Years with you guys! Just a quick question, is the NYE party both inside and outside? Thanks!
Wooho! And we can't WAIT to see you 🪩 the party will be inside but you will get a wristband so you can easily go out to check out the views and then go back inside when you want to! 🎉
Thank you..God bless ICELAND
Fantastic video, Wake Up Reykjavik. Looking forward to your next upload from you. I smashed that thumbs up button on your content. Keep up the amazing work! Your tips on exploring the Harpa concert hall and the Reykjavik flea market were super helpful. Have you noticed any recent trends in Icelandic music that might influence the local scene?
No way! Thank you so much for the kind feedback and support! 🧡🥹 If you are thinking artist wise of course Laufey is killing it and then we have a newcomer called Lúpína that I predict will be big in coming years! I think now and like always the alternative scene is big here and jazzier/rnb is making a comeback!
Lovely 😂
Looking forward to booking tour with your company! See you in 2025!
Can't wait to see you! 😍
