11 weeks into The Sneak Up Strength Exercise Plan - how is it going?
มุมมอง 764 หลายเดือนก่อน
Exercises I am hoping will help me strengthen my running body. Squat, Pushups, and Dynamic plank to increase quad strength, upper body carriage, and core stability. This should help my running body meet my goals of staying uninjured and running faster. The plan is to increase by one each week, doing them daily. One day off per week is good.

    So annoying ... I've had the sprint session come up on my suggested workouts leading up to my half marathons several times this year and then it disappears ... My next race is July 20 yet it's put me into an early taper phase on the 11th ... It's still had me do 2 anaerobic 50 min sessions and has a tempo lined up but I was looking forward to the sprint drill.

    I really like Garmin Suggestion Workout as well. Another feature I like with it is if you wear a Bluetooth headset while you work-out, you'll get verbal prompts before each step of the workout. Also great for PacePro workouts as during your race you'll hear how far you are behind/ahead goal pace and also tells you what your next mile goal pace is.

    Great advice! I ignored the niggle a few years ago and ended up with a meniscus root tear. The surgery was a breeze, but the recovery was miserable!!! An entire month on crutches! It crushed me mentally and I now respect the niggle. I figure it's better to be able to run less and shorter distance, than to acquire an injury that doesn't allow me to run at all.

    Have the bpm limits to stay within "increased" over time? It initially tells me to run within 138 bpm (my slow runs are done in Z2 at 147 bpm on average). p.s. I run 1h.30 every outing 3 times a week, I've had the fenix7pro for 1 week (it synchronizes my workouts from my old watch) but I'm afraid that the workouts are too easy and will make me lose my fitness =( thx =)

    Is this a new Garmin feature ? Or it's specific for certain exercises only ? I have fenix 7 and never noticed it before, but today it showed up after doing my first 1hr hiking session with 90m elevation and 4.7km distance in 24°C heat at Central Europe. It showed 9% Acclimation. Last summer I did a lot of biking in 30+°C heat and it never poped up.

    • @johnstillruns7642
      @johnstillruns7642 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hendrik, I have not. I think GDSW could, though, if you adapt the long run to a longer time. Good question and I guess GDSW is more set up for health/fitness than marathon prep aiming for a certain time, but if the goal is completion and not PB then I think it could work

    Hi JohnStillRuns, this week my Forrunner 965 just setup my 5th recovery run and like you keeps swapping harder runs out for recovery instead. I've a question you can likely offer some insights into please. I ran each of the suggested recovery runs, but run at the higher end of the range, where my heart rate was semi-regularly exceeding the recommended range. Post run percentage within range was 71(%). So despite spending the majority of time within the suggested range (71%), do you think the watch still expects a runner to spend a much higher percentage of time within the suggested range and if I fail to do so will continuously suggest recovery runs please.

    • @johnstillruns7642
      @johnstillruns7642 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That is quite likely but I also wonder if the periodization aspect of GDSW is providing lots of recovery runs to set us up for a harder week to come, allowing the tissue adaptation required during a recovery week. Not 100% sure. Good question

    It's funny when I start a run or ride, after a few minuts the first value I get is +4, and suddenly drops to -1 just one minut later, with no changes on my speed, pace or effort.... Not pretty sure if this metric is really accurate. In addition, sometimes I get vaules that don't match with how I feel. Garmin should improve this metric's algorythm IMO

    I use the Garmin Suggestions for bike and run in conjuntion with lots of their other data and my own personal "feel" for the day. I would totally reccomend it to someone new to the sport. Mine suggests Threshold, Sprint, V02 Max, Long Run/Ride, Base. Recovery. and Rest. Which is pretty much all any recreational athlete needs. I do find some of the pacing at harder efforts just a wee bit higher than I can handle but it's not to far away from my capabilites. Garmin is a great tool if you like data and you have everything dialed in on the app/watch. Happy Running was great to stumble across your page!
