Winchester's self defense ammo may not get the love that companies like Federal, Hornady, etc get. But is it worth while? We'll take a look at that here.
@@nelsonr1467 this isn’t a bad round by any means. But at a certain point more penetration just means that the bullet is passing through the target with a lot of extra energy. You just reach a certain point where the extra isn’t likely to get you more effect on the target. But once again just because I like another round more than this one doesn’t mean it’s bad.
@@nelsonr1467 shot placement is what really matters as long as you have enough penetration to make it through major organs. 12 inches is generally considered the bare minimum with 14-16 being ideal according to the FBI.
FYI fn509 compact is 3.7 inch out of my fn509 tactical 4.5 inch this round did 1250 FPS
Winchester, Remington, Federal, Hornady, and Speer all make 147 grain JHP ammo that I like and use. Which I buy depends on which is available.
I use these and gold dot I prefer the pdx1 just my preference tho
Thanks
I guess the old boxes are pdx1 now they just say defender
Yeah PDX1 had the same exact box and picture
Appreciate the information.
No problem. Thanks for commenting.
Not as good as hst. Better than Hornady.
I haven’t tested the 9mm Hornady but I would take the Federal over this round.
@@glization1 why this penetrates more than HST.

@@jesseb8015 energy doesn't really matter in pistol rounds. Penetration is what incapacitates
