Your videos are awesome 😊
thank you so much!! 😄
I have a honey calcite skull that's not shiny like the sphere I have. Can I polish it like you do in your videos? By the way that was so pretty when you finished it.
thank you ☺️ sure you could! don't use the diamond drum just go straight to polishing with sanding discs and it will work great
Chert was used by native Americans to make arrow heads
That's beautiful
thank you!
Ah! I am going to try this for wet sand/polish resin
that's a great idea!!
Superbe Jasper ❤
On commence souvent en collection de gniess et de granite 😊😅 puis çà évolue comme on le voit dans nos vidéos
😂😂 this is very true! the color bands and quartz catch our interest and the collection begins
Un gniess
Du granite 😢 ne gaspiller pas le matériel dessu.
Look like wood fossil and Chert at same time
the layers do look like wood. nature is so cool 😎
Fluorite are not easy! Congrat! 🎉
thank you! 😁
Beautiful work!
thank you so much! ☺️
Magnifique! C'est bien de garder les formats bien gros comme çà.
thank you!
Can you post a tutorial so I can do this too pleaseeeee send help 🤩🤩🤩
yes! we have 😁 th-cam.com/video/sqqop2EaPco/w-d-xo.html
What are the 3 different dremel attachments?

Nice, how long it took?
thank you! probably around 4 hours for something soft like fluorite
thanks. but its my bad, i thought it is amethyst. how long for something around 7 in mohs scale?
@krzysztoflewandowski8262 depends on the size! if it's the same size as this piece of fluorite I'd say around 5-6 hours
@@thebroadhouse thank you :)
@@krzysztoflewandowski8262 😁

Now I want a microscope!!! Great video, thank you!
thank you! the microscope we use is 30 dollars on Amazon 😊 Ninyoon 2K USB Digital Microscope... www.amazon.com/dp/B0B46GL2M3?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Schleifst du trocken ohne Wasser? Wirklich eine tolle Lösung! 👍
There's a bucket of water offscreen for dipping ☺️
Can you tell us what tools you need to polish Crystal
you can polish crystals with a Dremel and for that you'd need the tools listed in this video- th-cam.com/video/sqqop2EaPco/w-d-xo.html you could also use a variable speed sander/polisher like this video. we got our's from Harbor Freight here's the link- www.harborfreight.com/10-amp-7-in-variable-speed-rotary-polishersander-70589.html and you can use diamond polishing pads like these- www.amazon.com/dp/B0B2DHFJ7J?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share or silicon carbide sanding discs. Just make sure the pads fit the backer pad for the polisher. We had to buy a 4in backer plate separately for those diamond polishing pads.
Why is mineral oil? Is it for shine?
Yes, it gives the rock/crystal a wet look and removes fingerprints.
Silica dust is dangerous. Use a mask or lots of water.
Where are you guys out of? I swear I have pretty much identical rock says you’re showing in your videos. Nice to see someone else can spot the same ones that I see in my area. Keep it up.
we started this channel in Florida but now we live in Washington. Some rocks we find, and some we buy. Thank you very much!
I very low lip bowl as another cheap way to keep rocks wet. I'm using it on something this size with a orbital sander usually and it honestly works well. I just got a dremel after watching your videos. It should work well with it too
I can see that working very well! It doesn't have to be fancy just has to work 😁 do you know what your first rock to polish with the dremel will be?
What bit are you using to polish your stone?
there are links in the description of this video (and we show how we use them!) - th-cam.com/video/sqqop2EaPco/w-d-xo.htmlsi=iiEZfuY3amdMGG84
❤
This was great, thank you!
no problem, thank you!
Over and over, I keep getting to the point where a stone is looking great. Usually around 800 grit. Then, at some point in the high grit sanding, the stone starts to look cloudy, losing some of the transparency. Am I using too much pressure? I have water dripping over the stone. I can't figure it out.
the same thing happens to me! when it does, I back down a couple of grits until it works it out and then spend more time on that lower grit before moving on. I think the cause is not spending enough time on the lower grits.
Have u done opalized flourite?
no but that sounds beautiful
Where did you collect this?
SE Florida near Jensen Beach. I found some trees that pulled a bunch of limestone chunks up with then when they grew. they were surface level but also I could keep digging and find more and more!
what about proverb
I got some low grade stone grinders and polishers. One flew apart when I slightly tilted it to one side. I spent over an hour trying to grind down a clear quartz crystal stained with orange iron oxide with little result. I'm now waiting for a delivery of diamond coated bits. Thanks to rock hound TH-cam videos I quickly learned my mistake and made the adjustment. I found this bizarre clear quartz crystal with a top that is cube shaped with an arm of a crystal running diagonally across the lower front of the cube. The bizarre parts are: in the front of the cube there is a diamond shaped hole covered by a thin layer of see through clear crystal. And inside the cube there are tiny pieces of crystals you can see and hear when shaken. The best part is there is a dark red stone partially covered by stain and a slight surface layer of brown stone. It's so unique there can't be another like it it anywhere. Can't wait to fully expose that dark red stone!
I love the rockhound community everyone is always so helpful :) that sounds like a truly unique specimen I'd love to see it! we have a discord group for rocks if you'd like to join you can share pictures/videos of what you're doing! not a busy channel yet but we're building it one cool rockhound at a time 😎
Don't forget to use a breathing mask. Some rocks contain asbestos, some are just dangerous to breathe in
absolutely 👍 always important to remember this
How hard are you pressing into the stone?
not too hard or it wears the bit out
Is using the dremel loud when polishing or grinding?
it's not too loud. but when I've used it for long periods of time without hearing protection it left my ears ringing for awhile.
@@thebroadhouse do you think I could use it at night in an apartment building without waking my neighbors I guess should've been the original question
@sB-wt7jy it depends on how well insulated your apartment is. if you can hear your neighbor's tv or hear them talking then a dremel might be too loud.
@@thebroadhouse ya I can't really ever hear much. Thanks for the information. Do you have a link to the pads you use?
@sB-wt7jy you can give a shot and see if anyone gets mad lol. Just be aware of the dust it's very dangerous to inhale. no problem! here's the diamond grinding drums we use for shaping- www.amazon.com/dp/B07S478P4V?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share and the sanding discs for polishing- www.amazon.com/dp/B07PTBH6Q9?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Welchen Schleifkopf hast du??

@@thebroadhouse Danke
you're welcome
Anyway you can lay down the abrasives you used for the steps
it's a diamond drum for shaping and silicon carbide sanding discs for polishing. sanding disc grits are 60,80,100,150,240,400,800,1200,2000,3000,5000,and 10,000.
You don’t use a polishing paste?
no but we might in the future

@@adilakshmi777 anytime :) 💜
About how long did it take you to polish that piece?
probably about 4 hours worth of work
looks like a face blowing a kiss
it does kinda 🥰
What are you using, and where did you get it?I definitely need one of them!
it's a variable speed polisher/sander and we got it from Harbor Freight here's the link- www.harborfreight.com/10-amp-7-in-variable-speed-rotary-polishersander-70589.html we had to purchase a different backer pad to accommodate the diamond polishing pads we got on Amazon. here's the link for those- www.amazon.com/dp/B0B2DHFJ7J?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
May I ask what speed your dremel is on? Sorry if it’s mentioned somewhere and I missed it
always on low speed! anytime I try to go on high it wears my bits down too fast. I didn't mention it in the video, but that's something I should start mentioning going forward. sorry about that!
How long did this take you start to finish?
around 4 hours of work
@@thebroadhouseawesome! What speed do you use?
@sB-wt7jy always low. anytime I try on high it wears my bits down too fast
Beautiful! Do you wear a mask when grinding? If so, what kind?
Thank you so much! I wear a half-face respirator, but an N95 mask would work as well.
That’s a yooper light shine a block light
you think so?! I got it from the mountains in Colorado. I thought it was gneiss
Your video I wish you left the band home
