LINER NOTES Not the longest but possibly the most winding road on the album, this cue accompanies Laura’s recurring visits to the library to finally meet Lionel again. Well, she isn’t in love with him, or so she claims in front of Rebecca, but as she begins to recount all the nice things she wants to do for Lionel, we can’t but have certain suspicions, and so does the music, playing out the Lov...

LINER NOTES Laura only meant to return her books, and now here she stands in front of Lionel with no money to pay her late fine. But not to fret-Lionel is ready to be gallant and take on the fine himself, giving the Love Chimes another chance to ring out across the library. The orchestra swells up and down as their conversation flows from banter to an awkward silence to-finally-an exchange of p...

I enjoy reading the description of each track so much :D.
I hope I captured the story adequately!
Melts my heart <3.
Outstanding!
Beautiful
Love this part: 3:00
Yes! I'm a sucker for those western chord progressions!
It needs a rework I think
Now I'm curious, what would you change?
@@michaelmgoessler I would edit the opening bass vocal, it's too repetitive, distracting, and continues too long, change it to other instruments if you need a beat all the way through, and you could refine the guitar theme and accompaniment could also use a second version and a rework the ending, sounds like you just gave up on the ending.
I see what you mean. Thanks for your feedback!
@@michaelmgoessler don't listen to him, he criticize everyone for no reason, he's probably jealous of people's skills and tries to put them down
@@avengedsefenvold8990 Trying to keep it professional even with the trolls, but yeah there is not much of a takeaway in his feedback lol
The scene fits your blue notes really well, good job.
Beginning reminds me of the Lion King soundtrack with the men's choir! At 0:45 I was like "I like where this is going" :) nice job & best of luck!
Thanks, good luck to you too!
Love the rattling vibraslap and the bluesy riffs. Good luck!
Thanks and good luck to you too!
Nice job! Best of luck in the competition.
Thanks! Your piece is great, good luck to you too!
Beautiful
1:17 ❤
Love the additional chords on the turnaround!
I like this one. Feels in character with the image to me. Thank you
Sounds awesome, and I love the live trumpet!! Best of luck!
As a trumpet player I support this ;) Lovely melody, must be a contender for the win with this production value.
Fantastic it has a live trumpet, this is a really wonderful sounding submission, Michael. Congrats on your entry. Very best of luck to you for Ryan's competition 🎉
You took it in a cool direction! A lot of energy and very epic sounding!
Oooh, lovin those bells and horn which shows some made melodic skills and bestowing emotion to listeners, you truly immersed us in your musical world w/ such an influential piece. Many many cheers!
Nicely done! You've created a great atmosphere and recorded the trumpet by playing it yourself! 👏The bells we share in the competition! Good luck!!
Wait, so is the trumpet live or plugin?
The trumpet is live recorded (in a non-prefessional setup, as you can probably hear)
@@michaelmgoesslerI can't tell, actually😊 I think it sounds great!
I've listened to a lot of these and you would be one of MY finalists! Anyways, I got a new composer challenge coming up in a few days. Would you be interested? You could definitely use the trumpet. It's going to be superhero themed 🦸♂️
Well, thanks! I'd definitely be interested (time permitting), what kind of a challenge is it?
@@michaelmgoessler I'll post a video with the details soon!
a strong entry. good luck.
Stargate vibes intensifies...
Hadn't seen the movie or heard the score, but after a listen I see (hear) what you mean!
💯
Interesante!! Lo pienso para algunos poemas de mi autoría. Saludos, Héctor Alvarez Castillo.
Gracias, me alegro de que le haya gustado! A menudo siento que la musica me inspira a escribir.
it's great and inspiring to hear what all the creative people did. I would be pleased if you head over to my version and comment me what you like and what can be done in another way. thanks!
Good score, well done. Good luck in the competition.
👍 So inspiring to watch the idea and accomplishment of everyone here, wish you the very best in the contest
good work, Michael!! i really enjoyed it, good luck to you, mate!! if you like you can take a look as well on my entry... ;) cheers
Amazing work. Good luck with the competition!
Excellent work. Good luck!
You've got really cool stuff going on here!! ✨ My version is quite different (if you want to check it out), but anyway I wish you luck with the contest ~
Really impressive! Well scored! Which part of the world are you from? I submitted mine last week. Best of luck and Nice one, Michael
Thanks, I'm from Austria, where are you from?
Great brass game here, I love the feeling of it. I managed to finish mine last minute, good luck for the competition :v
"like" for you and congratulations on your work! I did my entry this week! Good luck and greetings from Argentina! Where are you from?
Good luck to you, too! (I'm from Austria)
This is cool! I think my favourite part is the post-death bit (sorry Joey!). Best of luck to you (and us all haha)
I love the emotional part in the last scene. Good job man!
Nice work on the score. I also submitted mine. All the best to everyone who have participated!
Love the Icicle part, very haunting. Good luck on the contest✨
Fantastic version! Well done :D
Very nice! I don't know why - but I particularly liked the Brass writing at 0.34!
Love how you used the winds throughout. I had some difficulty figuring out what to do in the middle to transition - yours is excellent!
Really like this Michael. Love the slowdown and build up again to tension on the closing sequence. I posted mine yesterday. Great fun doing this. Well done again.
I like the tremolo when the kids get off the bus ;) Also, kudos to you for adding music to the last scene where the card is blowing in the wind at the end. I haven't listened to submissions that did that yet.
I too was amazed at how many avoided that bit. It is a powerful moment that needs care but simply staying silent didn't seem the right choice for me. The part I liked best in this score was that floating card moment.
That's curious, there is actually no tremolo in the strings when they get off the bus, but revisiting the scene, I see how the score and sounds effects together would make it sound like a tremolo -- that would be a really interesting way to score it, though! As for the final scene, I think it's very much an artistic choice whether you want to score it or leave it silent, but I thought some more music would be appropriate, especially when you're trying to demonstrate emotional range as a composer (and I'd written a theme for Joey and wanted to use it at least this one time 😜).
@@michaelmgoessler I'm a big fan of character themes - nice choice ;)
Michael super cool scoring, congrats
Love the icicle part!
Hi Michael, thanks for this beautiful score. I like it very much. (I just posted mine this week, I think we have several common points in the choice of instruments, and for progression of the intensity). Congratulations.
Cool
You show more restraint than most composer on this task: you let the scene speak for itself and leave plenty of space so you aren't hogging all the attention. This is very notable when the truck is approaching: you avoid overemphasizing it, and then the melancholy soft music after Joey's death is all the more effective. Very nice!
All I can do is say is thank you for the compliment (and go check out your entry)!
Awesome just finished mine. Good luck to you.
Good luck!
