    Perfect timing as I was just on the mountain for a couple days in Big Bear & I couldn’t figure out why I couldn’t get my Ollies consistently. With a skateboarding background, the dynamic ranges of motion are slightly different because you’re strapped into the board.. So that’s definitely something I’ve been trying to get used to. But I believe the tips you’ve touched on in this video will help me lock in the consistency of my Ollies.. Thanks a lot Taevis! Your teachings are so comprehensive, probably the most comprehensive on the net! Keep em coming! & I hope to ride with you & the Snowboard Addiction team someday! 🤞🏾🤞🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾

    Taevis man. So underrated. You're 100% a professional level snowboarder. But you're also super intelligent. It's one thing to have the physical capability of doing all the tricks, but to be able to clearly dictate exactly ALL the minute details that all the tricks entail shows so much intelligence. In my experience asking people how to do things, my conclusion is that these people don't have the intelligence to describe exactly what is happening or they don't want me to learn at all.

    • @SnowboardingExplained

      Thanks man!!! Not intellectual, I just have coaches myself a lot and thought about these tricks deeper then most riders. A lot of people ride with more feeling then anything else, what makes them not the best coaches. It takes a lot of training to be able to explain what you’re doing. Thanks for all the support! More good stuff to come:)

      Im wondering if the rider was becoming uncomfortable with the speed and letting themselves wash the transitions to try scrub speed. Perhaps I could suggest a more comprehensive technique to managing speed while carving down steeper terrain.

    • @c4rwr3ck
      @c4rwr3ck 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It might help to do a drill where we set an edge and let an edge take us for a ride while keeping our body stacked on a snowboard, following the natural carve, leaving behind a pencil thin carve. Then add more techniques to spice it up after understanding/mastering what makes a carve work. Maybe. I don't know. I'm not a coach :) I do agree with your assessment of turning too soon after setting a new edge. It is also too easy to move our back foot out to turn. I think one of the main principles of carving is the front foot setting an edge, then back foot does nothing but follow the carving path.

    I actually find that tail grabs make my back 3's super smooth and stable. I think it's because anticipating them causes me to stay stacked instead of bending at the waist when I pop.

    • @SnowboardingExplained
      @SnowboardingExplained 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I love me a tail grab, that said it’s a grab I can really alter your form to the extent, but if you learn your tricks with tail grab, it might be hard to do the tricks without it because people incorporate changes in the form into your tricks. That’s why you see guys do like backs of tail and spot over her shoulder with a bad access of rotation. So nose tail grabs super fun, highly recommend but learning your tricks out them first.

      Fair I used text to speech haha. Basically tail grabs alter your form. So if you learn your tricks with them you won’t be able to do other grabs. • @SnowboardingExplained
      @SnowboardingExplained 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Make sure your upper body is always leading a rotation the best way to train. This is just at home doing 360s jumping walking them get comfortable with doing the 360 at home leading a fat upper body and it will make it a lot easier when you try on snow. You’re trying to learn as many of these principles as you can off the mountain so when you actually go to the mountain, it happens naturally and you can focus on your takeoff

    It's not hyperbole to say that you've definitely saved at least a few ppl from breaking bones by showing these vids. By a few ppl I definitely mean me. Edit: Idk if you're gonna go over this later but I noticed that you used to do the same arm flailing during spins that I do now. How did you train yourself to stop that? I don't do it in practice spins on the ground but in the air I look like wacky inflatable arm tube guy.

    • @SnowboardingExplained
      @SnowboardingExplained 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      arm flailing alwaays happens for a reason. and that reason is to rebalance. so if you find yourself needing to move your arms that means you needed to shift your body in the air to make it back to your feet. This happens because of something on your take-off, or head postioning most of the time
