    Interesting. A couple of observations though - this approach doesn't necessarily work if there are chords already defined, although it's nice to break free from that constraint. Also, using a 3rd below can take a major key melody and make it minor, which is not always what we want. I'd be curious to hear how you would harmonize this if you wanted it to be in a major key.

    • @JustWriteMusic
      @JustWriteMusic 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      you had it right, it's a feature, not a bug. Oftentimes reharmonizing in minor is a gorgeous, but advanced move. Saying to someone, "add a 3rd below" allows for more simplistic and ear-based decisions, rather than theory-based analytical ones...if I'm making any sense at all haha Essentially this was a simple primer to help folks start thinking about harmonizing through basic mechanics, intervals, and using what sounds good.

    Privet my friends... I know this video post is old, but my comment is for those curious of NotePerformer. Follow the link here and discover the magic of NotePerformer. I cannot recall any VST sounding like a recording like this. The music in the linked video was produced by Dorico 5.1 Pro driving NotePerformer 4.5.0. The music performance can still be tweaked using Dorico's MIDI lanes, but the listener will definitely hear how NotePerformer is not this 'in-between', medium quality VST as some claims. NotePerformer has a lot of power, if one knows how to use its magic! 🙂 th-cam.com/video/QfHQ5ZM4BaE/w-d-xo.html

Man, I learned music theory for approximately 6 years, and during learning process I understood that my ear can't identify melody whether it is good or bad. And when I was trying to make a melody on my piano, my melody was like 90% made of music theory and 10% of my ear. I'm not a Logic user, so I've been trying to figure out what is "AI" about this. It just seems like its a Toontrack knockoff with less flexibility but a bit more mystery. Seriously don't understand why Apple considers this AI. The ability to use your Drummer thing with Superior Drummer, is just MIDI mapping. It's been standard for decades. Are Logic users just really easily impressed?

      Being able to map MIDI seamlessly like that without errors or parameters mixups is nice. Toontrack's Smart Drummer is definitely awesome, and I think was superior to Virtual Drummer. But then, why would I deny myself the joy of playing drums in the first place? Laziness haha

    It's a joke. 'Band in a Box' meets 'Toontrack EZ....' only it's badly implemented. They could have fixed all the issues pro creators would like to see fixed but they chose not to (except for 'real time bounce in place', and even that is not well implemented as it's 'automatic' and will only work with the I/O plug in connected. Most pro users will ignore all the 'toys for 10 year olds' and just use it in its basic form... which hasn't really changed for years.

      I agree, I think these are beginner / intermediate tools, as well as quick demoing tools to see if an idea checks out before through composing it. Pros in general ache to make music on a physical level, something like this just won't do the same thing. It's more or less a gimmick to help folks who might be interested in writing more seriously to see if it's for them I made a video going into this a bit more... th-cam.com/video/yof4VZDryc8/w-d-xo.html

    Talk about lazy and uncreative. You got it with this app. Thank you for making a video however. This app would be for those who cannot write music and just needs a puzzle to assemble.

      Thinking about it like a puzzle is a great analogy, especially for beginners and toe-dippers

    I just decided to comment as well. I like the fact that you tried superior drummer 2. The possibilities are just endless. Yeah and you also mentioned other options like guitar session players and vocals session players might be added. I look forward to that as well. My creative mind was just spinning as you were tweaking. Thanks for sharing.
