So it seems like Qimir/the Masters helmet and possibly gauntlets are made of Cortosis judging by the way they not only block lightsaber blades but also temporarily short them out.

Manny Jacinto is the actor playing Qimir/The Stranger and he is a total beast. He said in an interview that he did nearly all of the stunts himself, even while under the helmet. I saw a video on twitter of him training for this episode, too. He’s so good and he has some crazy biceps. Definitely up there as one of my new favorite Star Wars baddies!!!

He is almost certainly at least former Sith. He knows the Sith code and is well trained.
My take is that he was a Sith, but was tossed away by his former master. Now he uses his powers, but technically doesn't hold the SIth title (pretty much like Maul post TPM). For Jedi it wouldn't make a difference.
But him being the first Ren in the process is also possible.

23:22 I also think Qimir would've finished them all off if not for the handicaps. He was not only tired from fighting all those eight Jedis alone by himself, after running through the forest with Mae, not to mention chasing her afterwards. Sith Qimir just looked exhausted in the final hand-to-hand with Sol.

He also might not have been interested in KILLING Sol - most of his lines to him sounded like outright baiting him to give into anger. He was toying with the ones that could replace his apprentice. If he actually wanted Sol dead he likely could have done it - he wanted him angry.

Finally , a calm , mature , unbiased reaction from a influencer . So many are so toxic and over the top . Some are even pure haters making silly complaints about everything and overthinking everything . You sir show wisdom and use logical reasoning. It’s good to see someone who is not so desperate for hits . The most refreshing part of your reaction is that you avoid the political culture wars in reaching your conclusions. You will never attract the toxic fandom that the more popular toxic influencers receive because people love to hate instead of enjoying a very well produced episode.

7:18 How does that Mike Tyson quote go? "Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth?"
Mae has always been motivated by fear. Fear made her do what she did 16 years ago. Mae was hurt that her sister and best friend chose a group of strangers over her. Her hurt turned into anger and that anger turned into fear. Did she really want to kill her sister? No! How do we know that, because of how she reacted when she saw that she was alive and her revenge story. The past that we saw doesn't exactly add up. Did Mae return to Osha's room, attempting to put the fire out off-screen? We need to see the other half of that story. The episode dropped huge hints to the prequels and as well as an unseen party.
Mae was going to turn herself over to the Jedi, but the moment they started dropping like flies, she said nope to that and decided to get the hell out of Dodge! If the people you were going to turn yourself over to for protection can't protect themselves, you know you are in big trouble. Maw knew she was in trouble, but she would have been dead for sure if she sided with the Jedi! She which was the wind was blowing, and made her move to get as far away from this fight while the Jedi were still around to distract her master.
You commented about the Jedi not linking the identity of the Stranger to the Sith. I suspect the reason why they didn't is the same reason why one of the witches on Brendok blamed the Jedi for slicing a platform off-screen--no one has seen a Sith for millennia. Why jump to that conclusion with no evidence? It makes much more sense to go with the splinter Jedi order and rogue Jedi that they mentioned last last episode. To everyone in the galaxy, the only people with lightsabers are Jedi, and to drive that point home, the Senate and Jedi dictated that only Jedi can use the Force and likely lightsabers. So a witch seeing someone slicing a platform with a lightsaber, regardless of color is going to assume it's a Jedi. Master Vernestra seeing Mae using the Force is going to assume her master is a Jedi. Sol and the other Jedi are going to assume the person they're fighting is a former Jedi too since the Stranger is using the Force and a lightsaber.
The Prequels already told us that what a Sith looks like isn't widely known, so characters in the story not jumping on that bandwagon checks out.
7:54 this scene links Qimir to witchcraft. The second episode linked the Dark Side of the Force and the Sith to witchcraft too. The last episode via Qimir established that "the Master" picks people up. The master was on Brendok and that's where he found Mae. Did the master get into the head of Torbin on Brendok and mess things up? Make the Jedi look like the ones responsible for what went down? Mae was manipulated into believing the Jedi were responsible for what happened, but she realized something was off when she saw Osha. Qimir kept trying to tell her that confirmation of Osha being alive changed nothing. Who sent Osha the vision of Mae? I'm not so sure that it was Qimir since Osha entering the picture screwed up his plans. Is his master toying with him in the background, plotting his own revenge for something we weren't privy to?
11:30 Qimir's story and the Witches of Brendok's story show us how the Jedi through the Galactic Senate made life a living hell for Force users who were not Jedi. They were made illegal, arrested, hunted down, and/or killed. The Jedi might not have been the ones that did, but they made it possible. Worst still, they turned a blind eye to the injustices happening to others in the galaxy whose religions/culture was also the Force. The Jedi took the Force away from everyone and kept it to themselves. Sure, they were motivated to do what they did by an endless war with the Sith that claimed the lives of billions (trillions?) of people throughout the galaxy. The only way to keep people from getting caught up in a war like the one with the Sith was to regulate the Force, but look what they birthed in return? Master Vernestra hinted that the Jedi were on shaky ground with the Senate. She's worried about giving the Jedi's political enemies the ammo they need to oust the Jedi or knock them down a notch or two. Who would be the political enemies of the Jedi? People from the Inner Rim who had parts of their culture taken from? The Jedi are blind to the harm their influence on the Senate has created. I think this is the hubris that ended up destroying them.
Force users who aren't using the Jedi have to make a choice. But how does someone like that choose to be a law-abiding citizen? They can't! They have to live in the Outer Rim, in squalor, or be found out and punished. Can you imagine the allergenics such people would make? I doubt the link this story made between the Sith and witches was accidental. We knew the Sith have been working with witches since the Clone Wars. Darth Tyranus and Darth Sidious regularly went to the Nightsisters for apprentices! Heck! Palpatine dresses like a witch! He wears a black hooded gown! His original design is of a decrepit old man with bony fingers, from which he shoots lightning like a witch casting spells! He has very pale skin, sickly eyes, and bad teeth to boot. Palpatine is a witch/warlock! Star Wars Rebels had him stand in front of what looked a lot like a witch's cauldron in Rebels when he found Ezra in the World Between Worlds. The Sith and other Force users very likely made a pact with one another. Whether the Sith respected those arrangements are not is yet to be seen, but one has to think so. Palpatine had people like Mos Amedda and his Imperial Dignitaries by his side helping him. He also had many acolytes in Exegol helping him too; were they descendants of persecuted Force users who helped the Sith. Palpatine might have ruled the galaxy, but he carved out a place for those who helped him get there.
13:48 This is reminiscent of Yoda cutting Anakin's padawan tail. Mae stopped being an apprentice and is now what's after that, not master, warrior?
14:07 Up to this point, Sol spent the entire series calling both Osha and Mae by name to only go with "she" and "your sister" now? Yeah, Sol knows who he talking to. This day was a disaster! The Jedi came for Mae, why call her out and jeopardize this opportunity? Get her @$$ on the ship! I suspect tomorrow's episode will be a flashback in some fashion. I wouldn't be surprised if we learned that Mae isn't as bad as we were led to believe. I also think we will see that the Jedi did something bad too, but will see that it wasn't of their actual doing.
    Let's go!

@@writingref Well, Darth Bane has long been dead by this point. Lol Seriously though nothing has broken cannon. Overconfidence is one possible explanation (for a sith in hiding to utter the word), but also now that his face is seen, he knows it's kill or be killed (by his master). Besides if Qimir is Sith (although he is claiming to have no name) no master can know everything their apprentice gets up to.

This episode was brilliant with some phenomenal lightsaber choreography. Was pleased my prediction that Qimir is “the Sith” but was not expecting such a high body count this episode.
Side note: I’m really pleased we finally got a lightsaber duel featuring Green against Red. The last time we saw these two colours in a duel (IN CANON) on screen was in The Clone Wars: Season 6 - Episode 13 between Yoda and Darth Sidious. That was over 10 years ago.

The pre-watch party was indeed fun! Even my cat Kiara watched a bit of you on my phone. 😂
Phenomenal choreography! There's no denying that. The acting ...eh? Except maybe for Sol. But also the actor who played Qimir, Manny Jacinto. He was great! As soon as he turned antagonist and his face was revealed, his mannerisms changed. His voice changed. It was brilliant!
I'm shocked at how hard this episode went. The music/soundtrack really brought it home too! I'm kind of shocked that both Jecki and Yorde were killed, but then again, you did call it, Si. 😝 You win this round. 😂
But yeah, overall a much better episode than the previous ones. Qimir is definitely not the Master. But who is? And what has Sol done years ago at the witch's convent? Oooh more, mystery.

Say what you will about the show (writing and editing), but the fighting in this episode was so good. Slow clap to the actors who did the choreography (you can tell they spent a lot of time training) and those who created the choreography. I am glad the director and editor decided to shoot and keep longer shots that held onto the fight instead of cutting quickly. I believe that in the marketing for the show, before it came out, Lesley had mentioned a few times that they had a lot of influence from the prequel era fights. Specifically from Maul, if I remember correctly. It honestly reminds me of animated fights which it is more quick-paced. I prefer the Clone Wars lightsaber fights to most live-action ones because that is how I see the Jedi and Sith; fast-paced and snappy.
