Hey! My name is Casey. I’m an avid off-road enthusiast and owner of Snowbound Customs! Subscribe to the channel for content that revolves around my personal long traveled 3rd Gen 4Runner. Visit my website below for links to many of the products I use on this build. Some products are items I fabricate my self and others are fabricated by a variety of vendors across the nation!
USB Power Mod (Ash Tray Replacement) - 3rd Gen 4Runner
3rd Generation 4Runner rear USB power mod! This powder coated bezel replaces the rear ash tray on the center console and allows you to mount a power source that has both USB-C and USB-A outlets. Both of these outlets have fast charging and will charge your phones at the maximum speed that they allow. This works for 96-02 4Runners.
For this mod, you will need the following items. Note that many of these items can be purchased at automotive or hardware stores in smaller quantities for cheaper than these Amazon links but you do get the benefit of getting them in much larger quantities on Amazon to use for future projects.

Other than the little rubber angled pieces, how have you found to change the angle of the camera?
Have you had any of the prebuilt ones go into a Surf? Any issues you're aware of?
Got a 95.5 Tacoma 4WD with manual hubs and saving to go LT do I have to build the rear suspension right away or can’t I rock the stock suspension
@@carlosceja3210 you can definitely rock just the front LT for a bit. It would be worth it to get some normal lifted shocks and springs for the rear in the meantime
Wow people have gotten dumb
Not true Morimoto have been proven to be better than Baja. Fyi
@@chatothe-kid3892 morimotos lineup of pods was not even released yet at the time of this video
mean build!
You got learn to crawl before you can run 😂
You can make your own volume knob! I did it with my W3000NEX
Did you body lift and tub to fit 37's!? I'm having a hard time getting to 35's!! The 3rd gen struggle is real! 😅
@@whitneyl.2510 I have a video after this one was posted about tubbing the rear end. We cut into the body and welded in new sheet metal. I did the same thing up front too and also a 1” bodylift
awesome install! 👍🙂👍
Cool pushrod but i dont get how this could be better than a normal coilover.
@@Tiltglory it’s not meant to be better than a normal coilover necessarily. The purpose of this is to get the same travel numbers of a vertically mounted coilover that would normally require you to cut into the cab. By having it mounted horizontally, I don’t have to get rid of the rear seats. Plus it packages really well with an integrated sway bar on a manual locking hub
Oooh okay gotcha. Thats cool AF!
Awesome build 🤙🏼
How much wheel travel?
@@dalenjames5743 16” straight, about 23 when articulating
Real issue is you don't make your money backm
Recently just found your stuff, love your build and everything you’re doing with snowbound customs. Keep up the great work man!
wtf
Will that one small lower shock be able to handle road abuse? It looks like thats the only thing holding it to the pivote arm on the frame.
@@angelaldacoaa im not sure which part you’re referring to but the small shock is just the bumpstop. The main shock is the one mounted sideways. It’s connected to the lever arm which is attached to a massive steel tube running across the frame rails. The lever arm rides on 1 ton unit bearings! It’s very heavy duty and kind of overbuilt if anything
Not the bumpstop the one to the left of the axel in the first clip. I might just be missing somthing or not seeing it but from what i can see its just that linkage (not a shock my mistake) connecting to the lever arm. I seen the side ways mounted one thats whats raising it but when its fully extended all i see is that smaller lower linkage connecting to the lever arm.
@@angelaldacoaa ah okay. Yes that link will be plenty strong! It has a large heim joint on each end of a 1.5” thick tube and a 5/8” bolt going through. It carries the same weight as the coilover. Coilovers have much smaller heims comparatively and they only have a 1/2” bolt
@SnowboundCustoms good point this would be interesting to see how it turns out. What kind of vehicle woyld this be applied to? Like somthing that can go all terrain through deep forrest or like a fast sand dune type bvehicle?
@@angelaldacoaa probably more 4x4 offroad stuff in the forest but I also have a full long travel setup in the front so it should be a good all around vehicle
Cool. Skilled!
What am I looking at, hydrolics?
@@AnthonyFlores-ln2nr no, it’s being lifted by a forklift to show the shock travel. This is cantilever suspension on a 3rd gen 4runner!
It's going to be a rough ride
@@knockonwoodworks3615 what makes you say that? Ride quality is all dependent on shock tuning
@SnowboundCustoms I didn't see any shocks I figured all the weight to the vehicle is on the cylinder that's doing the lifting
If it has shocks or bags that's awesome, without that stuff I figured it would ride like those bouncy cars on hydraulics
@@knockonwoodworks3615 it’s being lifted by a forklift. That’s a coilover without the coils that is being extended/compressed
I’m not nitpicking I’m just wondering how thats going to hold up to impacts off-road when the suspension is fully raised
@@gRaver771PSN it was designed specifically for offroad use. All parts are overbuilt. It rides on 1 ton bearings
@ freaking gnarly
Nice ! 😎👊🏼🍻
I really like this idea 🎉
This is gonna be so sick
You might have noticed the weird movement at the end of the first clip. We forget to release the passenger side of the axle housing from the ground during cycling so it was stuck and caused that little shift! Otherwise everything world great. Still working out some little things and a full video series will be out on this project soon!
Fantastic work I’ll definitely be doing my own. Thank you!
Is there bypasses on all those? How is that Tundra getting up there?
@@77magnuss yes there is bypasses for all the hard stuff mostly. The hardest one with no bypass is at 1:40. It’s a pretty chill trail otherwise
Cool. My 3rd gen just got totaled but I still have a 2010 F-150...
Wow, one of th ebest retrofit videos I've seen...You made it look so easy, I've done some retrofit myself, but this quad projector looks stunning, keep it up!
not an electrician so please excuse the noobie question. I watched the video numerous times. I get a little confused when you speak of grounding the black wire but I see both red and black wires going to the bolt that you used to ground your wiring. Would you mind explaining that portion in just a little more detail?
yo bro u still need help? just did it today
@@David-v8f9d it’s only the black wire going to the bolt! The red wire does not go to that bolt. It just might look like it because the black/red wires are connected with rubber
I need this mount, don’t see it in your store….. How much? Where can I order?
My old 3rd gen flexed okay but I switched to a Grand Cherokee Wj and I like that far more. Plus it flexes FAR better and the interior is better in my opinion.
Installation instructions are “install” overall extremely unhappy with the quality of this product.
Love your build ! I also own a 3rd gen v6 4Runner. I'm running 265/70/17's. With that setup it's super slow & underpowered. Did you do any mods to the motor so you can run that setup ?
@@d.phothirath5084 nope, not yet. Mine is also super slow! I was planning on a supercharger
@ Thank you for the quick response ! Build looks amazing 🤩 !
I’m looking to pull the trigger on this for my GX470. You didn’t mention anything about the low fluid sensor. Will that still be functional after install?
@@QuinaQuen313 there is no hole for the low fluid sensor. Many off-road enthusiasts choose to eliminate this. However, I have had dozens of customers email me and say that they successfully installed the sensor by drilling an extra hole using a step bit!
Thanks for the reply. I’m going to try this as I can’t stand lights on the dash. I’m assuming there’s another gasket to reuse for this as well.
I ordered this but the port didn’t come in 🤦🏻♂️ only the metallic & the black plates
@@georgeniculescu8241 read the video description for a link to all the parts you need or check out the product description from the place you ordered it from. The plates is the bezel kit that you ordered, but you’ll also need to get the other items listed such as the usb port, wiring and etc
If your building your vehicle for crawling may as well do a sas but if you're hitting whoops long travel ifs is the way to go but with these prices id find a new hobby.
I just ordered one. Like a few of their other 3rd gen parts, but it’s the holidays and I cannot keep buying things for myself. Seems like a cool company and I plan on eventually using more from them on this build. 🍻🤙🏽
Smooth as butter. 👍🏻

i'm not familiar with the lifespan of a projector light. i overland and if on the trail, i need a spare part kit for something like this. What would you recommend for a parts list for that?
@@doncline-k2t generally I don’t bring spare headlight parts. Parts failure is very uncommon and having a bulb burn out won’t leave you stranded
