Replace Chrysler Town & Country 62TE Transmission (Torque Specs, Quicklearn, Flush Cooler and more!)
In this video we walk through every step to install (every chapter below) a new transmission on a 2011-2017 Chrysler Town & Country and 2011-2020 Dodge Caravan. We show how to install the starter, CV axles, transmission mounts, torque converter, and include every torque spec as well! In addition, we show how to flush the transmission cooler lines with Lubeguard and show how to do a transmission Quicklearn which is recommended by Chrysler. This process is the same for various other Dodge and Chrysler vehicles with the 62TE transmission including the Chrysler 200, Dodge Journey and Avenger. If looking for the removal video showing every step see here: (th-cam.com/video/GkdXhDJgIP8/w-d-xo.html).

I bought Bosch 8 ah battery with charger for $199. I chose the Bosch 7 1/4 in compound sliding miter saw for free. Lowes Christmas 2024 sale. As of 12-26-24, they're still on sale for $229 for the battery starter kit and get the saw or other tools for free.
Is the impact good for home use as well? Cause overall i feel like it would last longer and its stronger
after the blue light flickers , I was told to put it on hot....is that incorrect?
I found a 2" bolt. Cleaned everything, gasget and silicone. It leeket after all was done, with no fluid init yet ? Waiting 24 hours to put in fluid. Seems fine now . Where did the bolt come from ?
What about the run time?
God loves you
Thanks!
Great video. I always appreciate any DIY videos on car part replacement. One note, you probably should mention that the alarm might go off when replacing the negative terminal. 😅😅
Glad you liked it! You're right when disconnecting sometimes it can cause the alarm to do crazy things. I haven't noticed it on this specific vehicle, but I have worked on other vehicles in the past that it did. Thanks for watching!
The most insane step 1 checklist is the screws....props to dewalt for not letting these ripoffs find these screws at a hardware store or in China anywhere wow!!!
Yea I know what you mean. I'm not sure why they just can't get a simple QR code to read the serial number off the battery and now we know its legit. If someone copies the serial number and makes clones, simply give error saying already registered so you know its either fake or someone already used it and returned (stores reselling used as new is a real problem at HD and Lowes).
Most straightforward video ive seen on this...thank you
I'm glad you found it helpful! Thanks for watching.
Mine is the opposite...in the summer ...i turn dial between hot/low...sometime the pilot goes out. Never set mine on HOT or A.
If your thermostat was already set to the lower setting and still goes out, you may have a different issue on your water heater.
@@TeamDIYNow but the problem goes away completely once i set it a little higher.
Soooo much rust , where , why, when?
Yea cars in the upper Midwest get beat up every winter because of the salt!
Plastic benches have no use in the work place. Sooner or later the plastic will fail and you will not be able to fix it. They're all crap.
Yea if looking for heavy duty workbench, I agree plastic is not going to hold up very long. With that said, from a lightweight general use table some of these aren't bad especially for the price.
Just a note, the M18 FSGC (bought in Australia) looks very similar but actually has a red collar which must be depressed to remove the bit holder. Don't do what I did and try to pull it out with vice grips and some love taps.
Good to know, thanks for sharing! The detail on the red collar is good to know as that would be how you can tell the difference vs the one sold here in the US. Here in the US the collar is completely black and one piece that comes off as shown in the video.
Your videos are awesome! Last week, I replaced the power steering pump using your guide, and this week I'm tackling the struts. Keep up the great work!
Thanks for the kind words! Glad you found my videos helpful!
Just turning down the temp worked for me too. Thanks!
Glad to hear it worked for you as well!
Great video. My transmission lines are leaking and I'm waiting on replacement parts, but I wanted to see what it'd take to swap out in the event of a "worst case scenario" situation. I like how at the end you're basically saying its a straightforward task, but boy is it intimidating. Thanks for the video!
Glad you liked it! Yea I make sure to say that about it may seem intimidating, but it is straightforward if you just follow step by step, bolt by bolt. Before you know it, the transmission is out of the vehicle! Thanks for watching.

I just finished changing the fluid and filter on our 2016 DGC. Took me 3 hours and $99. I did something no one on TH-cam had mentioned- clean the bolts. Our van with 86K miles was still factory sealed with silicone, so to prevent any of that coming loose from the bolts, I made sure of of that was removed before re-install of the pan. Thank you for the video. It was one of 3 I studied before tackling the project.
Glad you liked the video! Correct you need to make sure you clean the bolt threads as well. I did mention to clean the bolts in this video at 14:58 before installing the pan.
I got both kits. Keep all my tools at work so I wanted a drill for around the house. The Bosch is fantastic. Gave the m12 to my dad for his birthday since he already has a bunch of m12. But I personally like the Bosch more
Yea I agree, when comparing the 2 the Bosch is the better all-around drill.
I tried the m12 but once I got my hands on the Bosch I decided on the Bosch brushless flexiclick. Now I will say, I like some of the other 12v bosch tools and not others so I do have two 18v platforms 😂. I picked up a brushless 12v drill and impact for $30 for the set and got the flexiclick for $90ish so it's overall a steal. The recip and omt both suck, I'd like to try the mini circ saw, I think the router and planer are top notch.
Yea I agree I really like the Bosch as well. I haven't used their router, but I do also have the 18v planer and it does work excellent.
4:27 I have the same hammer!!
Haha yea it works well! Still going strong many years later!
Im just going to buy a new heater. Damn Rheem, this is only 3 years old. My previous lasted over 12 years
Have you tried reaching out to Rheem to see if they will fix under warranty? Depending on which version you have, the warranty goes all the way to 10 years.
I always had setting A. Ingit the thermostat error blink
You may have a different issue with yours, however you can try to lower it a little more...down to the warm and see what happens.
Do you have to change the seal when you change the filter?
Technically no, and I'm sure there are decent amount of side shops that pretend they do but don't replace the seal. With that said, you really should replace as its important to have the filter neck seal inside the transmission. You are relying on that seal so the transmission can pull the fluid through the filter. Alot of times there is only a few inches of fluid at the bottom of the pan, and if you don't have a good seal the transmission could be sucking air at that seal vs pulling fluid through the filter. It's pretty straight forward to replace the seal, see at: 12:41.
Just picked one up with an 8 ah batter and charger for 229 from Lowe’s. I downsized from a 12 inch corded metabo hpt. I am loving the size and power. I do wish it came with a shadow line but I only use it for diy work so taking the extra time to really line up my cuts is t a big deal. I love the convenience of cordless and rarely needed the 12inch cut capacity.
Thats a good deal! Yea I agree this little saw is a beast...these battery power miter saws have come a long way in the last few years!
@@TeamDIYNowdo you feel like the vacuum really makes much of a difference on dust collection? I work outside so it isn’t such a big deal but could help with cleanup if it makes a substantial difference
@@blacktrucksfly It does a little bit, but honestly if your outside I wouldn't mess with as a simple blower when done will remove all sawdust. Maybe if using a higher power vacuum or one of Bosch's dust extractors it would, but they are all corded which kind of defeats the purpose of a battery power miter saw. I typically don't use anything other than the included small bag as I'm usually working outside as well.
The Worx is a finger pincher monster. The way it collapses and the clamps are a joke wish had never bought it. Tough built or DeWalt is way more useful
I forgot to mention that pinch spot at the top when opening, thanks for mentioning!
Many jobsite table saws with folding stands are 32" high. The worx bench can serve as an outfeed table.
Good point!
Wow the size and weight difference is a lot. I got two Flexvolt 9ah on the way from some deal. I never checked to see the weight! 3.2lbs! Yeah the Powerstack seems better especially since Flexvolt batters are so expensive. Maybe part of the cost is making it so it can do 20v and 60v. Just seems Flexvolt advantage tools should be called Powerstack advantage tools instead! I got two 9ah Flexvolts a 8amp charger and bag with Flexvolt recipicating saw for $299 with tax and shipping. And I was just going to sell the saw maybe even the charger and just keep batteries and bag.
The size and weight are significant when comparing the two and on some tools it does make a difference. I do think the Flexvolt still has its place as there are some of the 60v tools that really benefit from the FV battery (miter saws, etc where you're not holding the battery anyways).
@@TeamDIYNow Well the lifespan. I would be curios as to how much longer the 9ah lasts. Never thought of that till now. The power maybe neck on neck but what is the flexvolt runtime difference between the two.
@@davido3403 The lifespan (amount of charge cycles) of pouch batteries like the Powerstack are supposed to last longer in theory vs some of the traditional cells. In regard to the runtime, it's still very similar to the past where the more ah battery is going to have the longer runtime. The only thing to think about with the runtime is that the pouch batteries are advertised as full power all the way to 0% of a charge vs some traditional batteries start to drop off in regard to power around 30%.
If they bring that Dewalt blade changing mechanism to the M12 then it would be perfect. Decades ago I owned a corded Porter Cable oscillating and it has the exact same blade changing as the Dewalt. I don't know why other big brands don't copy it, Dewalt did but that thing vibrates so much that it's tiring to use for a long period. BTW I don't see you have the Makita XMT04ZB on the table. If you use that one the vibration is almost 0. But it's bulky and it only uses Starblade. Which is why I sold it and got the M12.
Yea I agree the Dewalt blade change is a little quicker, however it also makes it a bulkier than the M12. I do have a few Makita tools (corded belt sander and biscuit joiner) and really like them, however I don't have any of their cordless tools anymore. If they come out with some new models I'm not against trying them out as the few Makita tools I used in the past were of good quality.
Ok my friend
Glad you found it helpful!
Lowe’s website states the Toughbuilt is no longer sold on their site. Anyone know where to find it?
Yea it appears they are back out of stock again. Unfortunately, Lowes is the only retailer that sells this table as of today.
I have the Worx for a few years and has been very good. Needed a second so just bought the DeWalt. Similar opening mechanism on the DeWalt, just prone to failure it seems. Kind of wished I would have bought the Toughbuilt. Looks all around a better quality folding bench.
Yea I agree I think the Toughbuilt is the better all-around table when comparing to the Dewalt. I haven't had this Worx table very long, but so far I do like some of the additional options especially for the price.
Is it still mobile I'm about to try that right now
No, it lasted about 2 weeks and the pump whine came back. As mentioned in the video it's worth it to try, however in some cases the transmission is too far gone which was the case for this van. I did a separate video showing every step to remove this transmission if the filter/fluid doesn't work: th-cam.com/video/GkdXhDJgIP8/w-d-xo.html . Good luck.
Thank you,
Glad you liked it!
They also say the powerstack has a longer lifespan vs the standard batteries
Yup agreed, I did mention in some of my other videos but may have forgot to mention in this video. Thanks for pointing out.
Weighing batteries is another way. Fakes are usually lighter.
Good to know, thanks for sharing!
Wow
Glad you liked it! Thanks for watching.
This is one of the best videos I’ve seen on this. Glad it can be done without entirely lowering the subframe. That part looks intimidating. Getting ready to conquer this job on my Pontiac and save 1000 dollars.
Glad you liked it! Just take your time and follow along with the video and I guarantee you can get the job done! Any questions along the way, feel free to reply back and will help best I can. Thanks for watching!
Good video good excellent information thank
Glad you liked it! Thanks for watching.
You said a lot of nothing, go straight to the point
At this point the amount of difference is so small it doesn’t even matter. Either one you have just keep it until a screw can drive itself in
So you cant use your own gun with that attachment?
Correct, this attachment will only work with the Milwaukee drywall gun.
@@TeamDIYNow Do you know of one that works with any drill gun or maybe a bit that you can put on a regular drill gun to make this work?
@ Sorry no I’m not aware of any for drywall guns. As of now all the brands only make their own attachments that will only attach to their drywall guns.
@@TeamDIYNow OK thank you..
Great video. We need more Smart ForTwo vids!
Glad you liked it! Will see what I can do. Thanks for watching!
My cheap ryobi runs circles around my new milwaukee.
My father-in-law has one of those Ryobi guns and he likes it as well. I personally haven't used it, but it looks to be a decent nailer for good price.
Mine jambs on senco nails

As a lifelong fabricator, welder, millwright I’m pretty sure I don’t need this. I have so many grinders that I rarely change the “blade”. One will have a wire brush, another a hard wheel, another a cutting disc, another a sanding disc and so on. This applies to die grinders as well. I’m sure it’s a nice tool but can it survive a heavy use environment
I know what you mean, it's hard to pass up a traditional grinder for a lot of applications. If you're a welder, a good grinder/die grinder is definitely the better tool for the job as this cutoff tool would only work for light occasional metal work. I usually only use this cut off tool for finesse/tight spots and setting the depth to cutout hvac floor vents.
what if you can’t put the service mode on and you still compress the piston with out it
I haven't tried so I can't say for sure, however according to GM (and other OE's) you risk damaging the parking brake mechanism. If you're not able to get the manual route to work, the next option would be using a scanner which will work every time. I have an Autel scanner similar to this one (amzn.to/3OVLwjv) that can put in service mode, and I believe even some of their cheaper ones can as well.
There's a company called Fix My Stand that takes care of the issue . Have bought 2 sets for my saws problem solved!
Thanks for sharing, may have to look into. What exactly do they fix on these?
@TeamDIYNow you can buy the release clips that you showed or can but the entire mounting bracket
I've been trying to get one of the toughbuilt workbenches for a while now. They're always out of stock at Lowe's. Thanks for the comparison!
Glad you liked the video! Yea they were out of stock for a few months during the fall, then back in stock in November till about last week. Lowes does list it under a new listing/sku for some reason ( www.lowes.com/pd/TOUGHBUILT-QuickSet-1-000lb-Capacity-23-5-in-L-x-31-in-H-Black-and-Gray-Plastic-Portable-Work-Bench/5015596805 ). If I see them back in stock will make sure to let you know. Thanks for watching!
