Supacell Netflix UK Series Review
The Black Brits did they big one! Just finished binging SUPACELL on Netflix and it was fire! Edge of my seat the entire time. Incredible twists and turns. The acting, writing, action are on point. Major diaspora love for this project. It’s the Top 2 show on Netflix and well worth it. #supacell #netflixuk #rapman #blackbrits #superhero #blackdiaspora #supacellnetflix

Why should a Black writer focus on writing about white people? I'd read Toni Morrison because want to read what SHE writes.

Just started this on Friday. It's a really good show. I can't wait for the 2nd season to come out. They need way more episodes. At least 12. Written well, and the characters are perfect.

"Writing about race" doesn't mean writing about charachters that look like you. It means talking about the struggles of people that suffer racism. So the way she interprets the question is one-sided. You can still tell stories where characters are black but their lives are not defined by racism. Just like you can write a story about jewish people without focussing on the holocaust. Of course she can write about the topics that she prefers, but I see that she also likes to twist other people's questions into the narrative that she likes to talk about.

She says she writes for black people, not the "white gaze", and yet it is only that vast white audience she unaccountably acquired that gave her mainstream success, innumerable (undeserved) plaudits and a platform for grovelling interviews such as these. She may say till she is blue-black(er) in the face that she writes about blacks, for blacks, but if her books were read, and more importantly bought, only by blacks, where would she be? What would she have? How large is the black book market for literary fiction? How large was it in the 60s and 70s? Russians can write books only for Russians and do just fine, since there's a lot of Russians, and a lot of Russians read books. Is the same true of African-Americans? More importantly, if we took away her race, what would SHE have left? Would she be any good--as a writer? If she had been White and male, would she have received a fraction of the fawning praise and attention she did as a black woman writer? Such a subtle but disingenuous game she plays. Saying so sweetly what she writes is not about us at all, racism is our problem, leave her out of it. But if we took her advice (as I wish we would) and left her (and her dusky witchy ilk) alone, then she truly would be left out on the margin, in the cold, excluded, without her prizes and royalties and public appearances and sycophantic interviewers like these she so delights to lord it over in her passive-(micro?)-aggressive way, to flaunt her much (self) vaunted moral superiority in their gaves. This is the paradox of the black public intellectual, of the black liberal, if you will. He adopts a posture of disdaining, of bristling under the (obsequious, servile, adoring, imploring) gaze of his white liberal bootkissers *ahem* readership. But without the pallid host, on what would the dark parasite feed? Who would pause, much less pay, to hear his sweet, sly Jim Crow mockingbird song?

. She never said white people can’t read or buy her books. She also understood white people were a big part of her readership. She is saying, she doesn’t write to or for white people. She doesn’t write to explain the black experience to anyone who is not black. If you wanna know, you gotta read but she won’t patronize and make herself small to fix white peoples perceptions or problems. That is something she saw in many prolific black writers. They wrotr to explain to white people and she chose not to do that. How do you take a simple point and make it so broad you miss it?

Racism is a subset of the larger pathology which thinks of any person mainly as a member of some group rather than an individual. This video does little to reduce the confusion surrounding race because they both talk of "whites" and "blacks" as if these groups are monolithic and stereotypical. Consider: 1. Race is not the same as skin color. There are thousands of non-white tribes in sub saharan Africa. Many people in such tribes hate neighboring tribes and have for thousands of years, including centuries of intertribal slavery and many efforts at genocide. This continues today. 2. A racist is anyone who thinks that race is important (positively or negatively). 3. A person's skin color is irrelevant to any decision beyond perhaps sunburn treatment or diagnosis of sickle cell anemia. 4. True diversity is the individual diversity that only the human species has evolved to celebrate. You are no longer limited to be a hunter or a gatherer or the son of a king. In the modern world it is your choices and actions after birth (not accidents of birth) that allow you to create your own essential individual identity. Toni Morrison and Charlie Rose are unique individuals.

The white racism in this country isn't Black America biggest problem speaking for self our biggest problem is the division among us he has been successful in dividing and conquer one of the oldest tactical move used every since Jesus walked this land and the irony of it all WE have allowed it to happen if you ask me how was this accomplished I would point out the lack of love ,respect, trust ,and the willingness to help our neighbors oh less I forget to add selfishness, greed and the lost of identity
