I want this Channel to be about my experience in building my Overlanding Jeep Commander, the installs, gear reviews, and family fun. I Just started getting into over landing and I am by no means an expert in any kind of install or modifications. I want to share the fun in doing something for the first time, the mistakes, and the frustration of having to figure out what went wrong. Along with that comes the excitement when it goes well.

Camping Disaster!
#camping #overlanding #adventure
A lot of mistakes were made. It's easy to start feeling comfortable doing something over and over again but when it comes to being out in the wilderness, there is no norm and things can change quickly. Be prepared gives you the upper hand, and I was NOT prepared.

Family Outing
มุมมอง 283หลายเดือนก่อน
#camping #family #adventure In this video I take my family out camping to Reddish KnoB Trail. Camping next to the little flowing river/stream was amazing and relaxing. It was my 20 year old daughter's first time camping so I had to make it special. If you notice I setup a four person tent as the restroom just to keep the ladies comfortable and have privacy.

If you want to show off your rig, Commander, or any rig, then send me an email at omarcoz@yahoo.com and we can either FaceTime or you can just send me a quick video of the walk around. I was thinking of even doing a "Rig Roast" haha. Tell me your thoughts.
Changes To The Commander Camper Build
มุมมอง 3872 หลายเดือนก่อน
In this video I add the platform that was already in the camper build with just a small modification, I had to fit it around the seat. I also add a small flat platform to keep the fridge level on the back seat. I hope you enjoy the video and if it inspires or gives you ideas for your rig, please subscribe.
Commander// 2nd Row Captain Chairs?!
มุมมอง 3193 หลายเดือนก่อน
#overlanding #offroad #camper #jeep In this video I commit to the point of no return, I turn the Commanders 2nd row bench seat into into captain chairs!! The second row comes in 3 sections, the two outside seats are held in by two bolts and what is left is the middle seat witch is connected to a front bar and rear assembly that are both bolted in. I just cut the metal, threw away the middle sea...

Good to see you Omar. Espero que te acuerdes de los Jiménez.
Of course I do haha!! I hope you guys are doing great!
Do you have a wrap on this vehicle? If so what is the color!? Looks awesome
I do. The color is called aregenic satin gray. Really love the wrap
I have a 06 hemi commander and I love her !!!! Did a few mods. Lift. Air intake. Flow master exhaust. And Bullydog programmer.
That’s awesome! How does it run with that programmer?
Hello man, congratulations!!, here you have a new subscriber for your new TH-cam channel, hope everything goes well, greetings from Chile.
Thank you, Felipe. I appreciate you.
Congratulations! Looking forward to sharing the journey with you on youtube! Let me know if there is anything I can do to help.
Thank you Craig! I appreciate that brother
...can I live in a connex in the back? Congrats buddy 😅
Congrats brother !!! Following!!!
Thank you Kris!!
Congrats man! I’m excited to see what the future holds for you!
Thank you, Mason. I appreciate that.
Congrats on the land. Very exciting
Thank you hermano!!
Wow that’s great. Congratulations on the property. I’ll be your first sub for sure.
Thanks Jay!
You have an update on if you still like it? Love the grill btw
Hey Gerald I’m not sure what your asking that I like. I love everything about the Gx haha. And yes the grill makes it stand apart from the rest
This looks like a great spot! I’m local to the area. Where is this camp site exactly?
Omarcoz@yahoo.com. Email me
I don’t like that I can’t see the traffic light when stopped at a red light. The windshield is too low for this.
Very true xtreme! I have the same issue
Hey that looks fantastic! Do you know the approximate dimensions of your cutout? I want to do a jump-seat delete for rear-access, but I also want to fit a small subwoofer in that space, and I cant eyeball it too well with all of my parts still in. This helped me along with my idea a ton!
I’m glad it helped! Let me know what exactly you want me to take dimensions of and I will go out and do some measuring and hit you back up
@ oh hey thanks a ton! Specifically the dimensions of the cutout that you made, and an approximate of the space from the electrical cover (that would normally be under the jump-seat) up to the cover’s surface would be great! If/when I get the changes made I would love to share them with the channel as well🫡
@SuperxFPS ah ok. So as far as the dimensions that I cut, I don’t have it because I eyeballed it. I literally took the seats out, took the front bar out with the jump seat and cut only what was holding the front and back of the jump seat. The front part of the jumpsuit is pretty easy. If I could do it all over again, I would take my time with the backpiece and make them more even. Right now, my passenger side is about an inch and a half higher than my driver side. I went out and measured this base and I have about 4 inches from the electrical panel to the surface of my small platform. I hope this helps!
@@OJCoz Hey man that's actually perfect thank you. Love the channel, hopefully I'll have something presentable to share when its all said and done!
@SuperxFPS awesome brother let me know because I would love to show it off! Good luck and let me know if you have any more questions
What is the trunk lift gate clearance?
When it’s all the way open it’s about 4 inches away
What I don’t like about my Jeep commander is that they are lemons. The electric system and the computer make the commander fail suddenly when you need it the most. It stop being reliable and I cannot trust is for the apocalypse.
Hey Alex I apologize for the late response. I’m just now seeing this. Mine is starting to give me issues to so I know how you feel:/
Wow
Another question, the electronics that are under the seats… I see you mounted your off-road jack to those covers. Are the covers already there or did you fab those? I would go look myself but I’m away from my jeep until next week. lol have a great thanksgiving, thanks in advance 🤙🏼
Yes those covers should be on your commander. It’s just a hard foam covered in that carpet fabric. Have a great Thanksgiving and be safe.
@@OJCoz fantastic, thank you very much for your contribution to the commander community lol I’ve only had mine about a month and love it!! Always been a jeep 4.0 guy, XJ’s & ZJ’s but this thing is pretty sweet so far, cheers from Seattle🤙🏼
@SSPDIVING cheers brother and I hope it treats you great!
@@OJCoz hey man, thanks for this video and for answering my question. I pulled the seats the other day and LOVE IT. I also put new tires on but the jeep rides so much better! Much less weight and added at least an inch of height in the rear. Thanks man, cheers🤙🏼
You’re welcome brother. I’m glad I could help!
I use my commander for work. I took the third row out but will be removing the second row after seeing your vid. Even folded down, they take up SOOO much space haha.
I definitely agree. If it wasn’t for having to take kids to practice, I would keep the second row completely out.
I would love to talk to you, you may not like what I say, lol, we are very rare sir
Is yours still running strong? Do you take it on trails?
Hello sir I've just found you, I live in UK and I own a beautiful 3.0 crd jeep commander, can you answer me something, you obviously love your jeep as I do mine, I look at mine in the car park, I smile lol, I get in her and, that feeling sir, I don't understand that feeling
Haha what's up sir, Yea I get in mine and feel the same way brother.
I'm noticing, none of these SUV tent makers, do not make the tent open from directly from the back, but to the side. GRRRRR/!😡
I’ve seen a couple on Amazon. I even got one in the beginning but it was crap. There has to be a good one out there!
Looked like awesome camp!
It’s definitely been my favorite so far:)
nice hoodie !!!
Thanks Kris!!
As always, very good video! nice spot to share with the family, thanks OJC!
Thanks brother! It’s always a great time
OMAR! Hope you are well. I have the rain guards on my wife's Expedition but never thought of putting them on my Commander. Great idea!
Thanks brother!!
Looks like you guys had some fun. The place looked very nice and them hamburgers me me hungry 🤤
Thanks Jay. We almost had the whole crew. Missing my oldest daughter. I’m gonna get her out there camping:)
This is what you look for when leaving the city, great video!
Thank you Felipe!
OMAR! I have done this in my commander. I'm only 5'4" so it is probably a little easier for me. Lol.
Haha nice!
I considered bidding for a 2006 Limited V8 at auction, and then I saw this vid about replacement parts....I hope it had a longer run so parts are more readily available. Gonna settle for an 09 Toyota Sequoia
You can’t go wrong with that either. My one experience with finding a clevis fork was a pain. There’s been other little parts as well.
Nice! Tranquility.
Yeah super peaceful… Thanks for watching!
The Commander looks and sounds so good! 👍 With all your camping experiences, have you had the "pleasure" of hearing a bobcat screaming at night?
Thanks brother! I have not heard one at night…. I don’t think I want to haha
Another great video Omar
Thanks Jay!
I have the Auxbeam 6 gang switch panel one running my pod lights, I want to buy a 30" Auxbeam light bar with amber and whit lights that can both strob together or by them selfs, my question is will I be able control the strob and back to just a steady beam, Auxbeam has a poor customer service. I never get a answer from them...tia
Good question brother and I haven’t cracked the code. I tried to do the Amber/white light combo in my Commander with my Auxbeam and I couldn’t get it to work. After doing some research a lot of the info said you have to use the switch that the light came with. I did find a little info that it worked with two different Auxbeam buttons but it wasn’t very clear on what to do. Bottom line is I quit trying haha
Is there a best year or version for the Commanders? And what is a list of immediate things to update (service wise) if I were to buy one?
From everything I’ve read the last two years 2009 2010 are the better made and tweaked Commanders. As far as service or issues, I think a consistent one is the leaky sunroof (the fix is super easy). Other than that it really depends on how well or maintained the previous owner took care of it.
@@OJCoz ok thank you. I wasn't sure if there were like common issues, where I would just go and replace it regardless.
@JoeyJiggles not that I know of. I mean I’ve replaced stuff throughout the years of owning it but it’s because it’s an older truck and things start to break. I got lucky in finding one that was well taken care of.
Same. 07 Commander. I don't get Jeep waves either....but i did get a duck 😂
Lmao I got one too and for a second felt like part of the club:)
@OJCoz Commander drivers are the more Elite of the Jeep owners, anybody can drive a Wrangler 🤣
@TheUrbanSentinelChannel bro that’s the truth! Getting that big tank in and out of tight spots is a skill!
Great video, very detailed, thanks friend!
You’re welcome, Phillipe. Thanks for watching!
Where did you get the Conterra medical kit 🤔
Ummm…. A friend…. A guy…. This dude… umm
OMAR!!!! Hope you are doing well. Great gear idea!
Thanks Tony!!!
Thanks for the video! Are these 20 degree rock sliders? I’m curious how much room you have between kickout and back door when opening? Any concerns? I cannot decide between 0 or 20 degrees. I did see one video where 20 degree did become a problem with the door after some heavy usage but that was on a 4runner.
Yes they are 20 degrees and no issues with the door. I could see the right hit and hard enough it could bring the kick out up high enough to block the door. I can see that happening but the chances are slim. You would almost have to be careless. I like the 20 degrees though because to me, it looks slicker
@ think they look slick too! Do ever use them as steps still? Any second thoughts on no top plates?
Would you recommend a specific type of silicone to use?
Not really. I would just make sure it’s not a generic brand. And also make sure it’s for outdoor use because it’s going to get beat up by the rain the wind and the sun.
thanks for the quick reply! Overall how is the roof rack holding up? Would you still recommend?
@eastongorishek509 no problem, Easton! And yes, the roof rack I would highly recommend. It’s been almost a year and absolutely no issues.
@@OJCoz Awesome glad to hear that! Mine just arrived and will be installing it today. Cheers!
@eastongorishek509 awesome bro good luck! I’m sure you’re going to love it
Great walk through of your set up
Thanks Jay!
Glad to see you still keeping XK around
Thanks Syed! She still has a lot more adventures left in her and she still treats me good😊
@ XK with Hemi has been the best boxy Jeep. I am getting mine on roads this week.
@syedsadiq4446 awesome Syed!
My opinion is that from one moment to another, the Overland became something commercial that confuses many enthusiasts here in Chile, those who cannot go out if they do not have EVERYTHING to camp. I appreciate your content, since many times less is more, especially when it comes to enjoying nature.
Couldn’t have said it better myself:)
If you look closely you see a lot of FSJ influence in the design.. almost like a continuation of the original Wagoneer/Grand Wagoneer & Cherokee Chief Especially when built!!🔥🔥🔥
Bro you just gave me a history lesson! Thanks for your post!!!
@@OJCoz No problem man love the channel!! I’ve had mine since 2014 put 110,000 miles on it built it & about to do another major build to it drivetrain etc
Awesome man. Mine just rolled over 180k. I feel like it’s got a lot of life still in her but a rebuild might be coming soon:)
Would make for more great content if you do bro!!🙏🏾🔥🦅💯
Very true haha
Thank you for the video. Been looking for SUV tent with instant setup. But really looking for testing in high winds. During the cooler seasons in the desert winds are a problem. Also where would you hookup a external heater ducts?
I’ve been in high rains and pretty damn good winds but I have never experienced dessert winds.. I will say that the fabric is very thin and you have to stick it down, but that would be any tent if you’re expecting winds. I think as long as it has a good connection to the truck, it will be fine.
Great video, great to see you still doing content.
Thank you for continuing to watch ha ha!!
See Jailbreak overland Richie from Boston
I’ve watched a few of his videos, but I’m curious Scott why are you telling me to watch concerning this video? Did I say something contradicting or just different?
Good info….nice set up and very organized
Thanks Jay
Great bag idea for the Commander. I have been using collapsible shopping boxes and a fold down that from Costco.
Yea it’s not bad. Plus the Velcro sticks to the carpet platform so it stays in place
