Do you prefer this or the FG5?
My preference is my FSX5. I prefer the comfort of the Orchestra model.
how do y9u compare it with fsx5? :)
Because 0f the slight shorter scale of the FSX5 Yamaha. I prefer playing it. Both truly sound great. If the Martin is more of what you're looking for. You might prefer the 00028. For playable reasons. Thank you for watching.
i think that this can be a good recording amp, no?
It might. I haven't tried it. If you do let me know what you think. Thank you for watching
How are you getting the reverb?
I run it through mixer as a monitor. Thank you for watching.
I've had an FG 150, a FG 180 and I hope to have an FSX 5.
Hope all goes well. Thank you for watching
I really enjoy your videos. Very well put when you said to rely on your hands to make you a better player. Effects are fun but not needed. I also have and actively use the Roland Street cube ex that you demoted in a different video. I play my custom Tele through the guitar channe. My son plays his electronic drums through the right side mono channel.
Thank you very much and thank you for watching
Howdy from Waco. Great review BTW. What strings do you have on the Om28 in thi s review?
Elixir phosphorus bronze 12-53. I also have used Daddario coated strings. Comes with Martin's 12-54. Thank you for watching
Just got an FG5 and absolutely love it. Did a whole bunch of comparisons with even some of the most prestige guitars and always came back to the Yamaha.
Congratulations. Thank you for watching
Cool informative video. Thanks for explaining the features and letting us hear how it actually sounds! Great job
Thank you, and thank you for watching.
Thank you good vidio God bless you
Thank you for watching
i have fgx5 one and I really like the sound of it.
Thank you for watching
Thanks for the review, I liked it so much I found a used one at the nearby Guitar Center for $250 including a nice case. I went and tried it out and bought it!
That's great. You're very welcome. Thanks for watching
nice video,, question. do the voicings have to be exact? They sound and that's what one has to work with. Get the app to use the Mids , there's where control happens.
The voicings are preset. You can make adjustments with the drive. Thanks for watching
I have two Yamaha acoustics. Great guitars
Thanks for watching
Do you think is it worth to buy the fgX5 for 1600 if the Fg5 is 1290?
I got a good deal on my FG5. If you only play occassionally plugged in then save your money and buy it without the electronics. Personally I prefer playing my FSX5 both plugged and unplugged. In my opinion the guitar is worth the uncharged for the electronics. They are that good.
Everyone knows these offset guitars need work out of the box. You could have spent around $120 for a complete set up including the shim and fret work, etc. Damn dude, I just spent $400 on my 10 year old daughter’s pizza birthday party last weekend. Maybe you should have returned it (Musicians Friend does NOT charge for a return within 45 days) and used that money for a gym membership!
Thank you for your comment and for watching
I’m in Japan but the music stores does not have FGX3 and 5s available, they are made to order items. Even in Japan those are rare. I went to check to all the music stores in our area. I’ve tried the FG3 and the sound is balanced and it is the most playable dreadnaught for me. The feel is good, really impressed.
Thank you for your comment and for watching
Thanks my dude! This simple video was the best of it's kind.
Thank you and thanks for watching
That settles it for me. I've been thinking either a Cube street which in all fairness looks a little big for what I want, or one of those Yamaha THR amps. Thes sounds you demonstrated tonight sounded great. Thanks for a excellent video. 👍
Thank you and thanks for watching
Very helpful information and demo. Thank you.
Thank you and thanks for watching
So true!

I have had godin nylons since 1998 amazing guitars
Thank you for watching
Thanks for the review. Would this be a good starter guitar for an adult beginner or should I lean to an AC 3/5 or fs3? I’ve been playing bass guitar for a year now.
This is a professional grade instrument. There are less expensive starter guitars. Thank you for watching
How many people do you think 2 of these will cover at 80 per cent power?? What size room?? Thank you
I'm sorry. I've never used this as anything more than a monitor. It can be quite loud however. Thank you for watching
U sound better with lil reverb great amp
Thank you for watching
Hi David. Here is my story. 25 years on my Takamine and I woke up one day and thought time for a new guitar. Nothing wrong with the Takamine. A very fine guitar. But, I thought I would treat myself. Been a long time. I looked at the Gibsons, Taylors, Guild, and all the other usual suspects. Then I stumbled upon the Yamaha. Played it and thought oh my goodness this is a beautiful guitar. How much? Half the price of the others. No brainer so I bought one. An absolute joy to play both in tonal quality, resonance, and that neck. Love everything about it. Oh yes, and its understated looks are real class also. Perhaps the Takamine will not see the light of day for a wee while.
Takamine?! Ugh! What a garbage guitar! Nothing personal but after owning 2 of them I can confidently call them absolute JUNK! I’ll put up ANY Yamaha acoustic guitar against ANYTHING Takamine has EVER manufactured! Sorry if I offend you. That’s not my intent! I just don’t like them. And they certainly could never hold a candle to any Yamaha guitar ever that’s for damn sure!
That's awesome I'm so glad you're having fun with it. Thanks for watching
I hear complaints when it comes to finger picking.
I'm a finger picker and I don't have any complaints. This is the first I've heard. Thanks for your comment and for watching
Nicely done, really informative. Thanks Dave.

Just stumbled across your video and I appreciate it a lot. I traveled across 3 states to purchase one. I wanted it badly. All the way from NC, through SC, Atlanta GA, to Alabama. About a year later, I sent it my good friend Joe Glaser who installed a G/Bender and gave it a good setup. The only thing I found lacking in the guitar were the pickups. The guitar plays well, almost 4 years later, the nitro looks a little aged (which is welcome) and I installed Seymour Duncan La Brea pickups. Makes a massive difference. Thanks for the video.
I have heard a lot of good things about those pickups. I'll have to give them a try. Thank you for sharing and for watching.
Great review David! I just got one w/o electronics, love the clarity and punch Take care and thank you brother!
Great. Thank you for watching
Just purchase good quality in the first place, the stupidity of buying cheap and having to replace most things is just that, STUPID !
Thank you for watching
Great audio recording on your videos. It makes a hugh different in reproducing the amp's true tone. Some videos, I like but can't rely on accurate tonal qualities, making buying decisions difficult.
Thank you and thanks for watching
Greetings from the uk David. Enjoyed the review. I just bought one of these as i play keyboards in a reggae band. The musicians have there own amps with line outs in to the mixing desk and main PA. I was looking for something that our singers could use to monitor their vocals though and this little speaker is ideal. I'll be using the auxiliary sends on our main mixing desk to send the vocals to the Behringer and then the main mix will go to the bigger pa system. Would be great to hear your music David. Although i play reggae i like other music like folk and country too. Have subscribed. Great channel. No hype , just good solid information from someone who knows their stuff. 👍
I'm so glad it's working for you. I think it's a great Portable monitor system for the money. I love reggae. However, I don't play it. I have an unnoticed music channel under David G. Murphey. Thanks for your comment and for watching. Keep spreading the music
@@davidmurphey9514 thanks for the info David. Much appreciated. Many reggae artists are very fond of country songs and sometimes cover them. For example, There's a song by Tom Paxton called Last thing on my mind and Reggae singer Delroy Wilson did a lovely reggae cover of it. Looking forward to watching more videos on your channel. I love the way that music brings people together. It's like a universal language. Love your gear reviews too. Keep up the great work.
Hi - have younever used a distortion or wah pedal with the Cube EX?
I'm sorry no I haven't. Thank you for watching.
You should take care of yourself as much as you do for your guitars. You got your priorities wrong.
Thank you for watching
Thank you - good presentstion!!!
Thank you and thanks for watching
Wish the 5 series had the gloss pick guard like the 3 series, matt finish looks cheap.
Thank you for your comment and for watching.
I just got my third one yesterday. I love them.
Congratulations. Share some Pictures. Thanks for watching
Nice video ! Do you’prefer the fg5 or the fs5?
Fs5
Thanks for watching
Been looking at one of these, yours sounds great. Thanks for the review.
Thanks for your comment and for watching
The one added features that I wish this guitar had is a radius fret board.
Thanks for your comment and for watching
I've ouned mine for 20years. This video did this guitar justice. I walk into a guitar shop twenty years ago . Took this guitar up. Strum it. And walked out of the store in fifteen minutes. I oun other and better guitars, but this guitar is very comfortable to play. B
Thanks for your comment and for watching
It sounds great here! I began looking at the open pore black finish model as well
Thanks for your comment and for watching
Hi, great demo. I have only one question. I've watched a lot of videos about this guitar and they all sound like it doesn't have enough bass. What do you think? Is there anything true or am I wrong?
It doesn't have the bass boom of a dreadnought or Jumbo. Every string seems to be perfectly balanced in my opinion. If you're looking for the heavy bass this probably isn't the guitar for you. Thank you for your question and for watching
Great amp. I had my tech install the Fromel Supreme Mod kit and changed the speaker to a Jensen P12R, which sounds way more like a vintage Fender. I really disliked the C-Rex speaker.
Thanks for your comment and for watching
How would you compare this to other cutaway classical crossover guitars like the Ibanez & Cordoba?
This actually is a Cordoba crossover guitar. I love Ibanez but I'm not sure of anything that would be a fair comparison. Thank you for watching
Good review. Thanks. The clean on ch2 has adjustable gain while on ch1 is fixed. With so many combinations, 16x16 equals 256, plus the adjustable bass, treble, gain and effects levels it's impossible not to find the "tone" you are looking for. Switching guitars do have a strong impact of course. One of my xd is always connected to my Stratocaster and the other one to my Acoustic guitar. Of course having two equal amplifiers is great to find great sounds between two friends working as a team and also to play stereo with a single guitar or a stereo keyboard. I got the optional pedal switches to be able to use ch1 or ch2 and effects off and on, 4 sounds in all, ready available at your foot. Your amp sounds similar to my two superchamp xd units. Although I do believe that the older xd model has even better chosen voices and effects but your x2 has the tempo light and the agility of building your own sound with the Fender software and load it through the usb connector. I wonder why Fender decided to replace xd with x2. One good reason might be that the sounds samples on xd might had some kind of legal issues since some brands like Marshall and others do register their sounds from amplifiers and cabinets as propietary. I found my second xd used because it was discontinued and I didn't like the new x2 as much. But x2 is also great in my opinion. For sound, size and weight I love my superchamp amplifiers. Nothing comes close even at higher prices.
Thanks for your post and for watching
This guitar is a category killer at the price it sells for. The pickup rivals the best in the industry and is better than an LR Baggs Anthem.
Thanks for your comment and for watching
@@davidmurphey9514 I have the FGX5. If you ever upgrade the tuners, check out the Graphtec Ratio Skeleton Key tuners. They are a big improvement in tuning speed, stability and perfect fit. Turns per note change is similar on all strings.
Anyone know about the Bill Lawrence Trigger-II ?
I'm sorry I don't. Thanks for watching
Hello brother, I play about 2 or 3 hours a day, and my go-to is a 914ce v brace with a 814 blacktop builders addition to standby. Yesterday I was goofing at the guitar store and started looking at what looked like a bashful little fsx5. That is till I played it. I have never played a guitar that has that much confidence. She's home now sitting between two thorns..... right where she belongs
