    This was a great video! I really appreciate the little tidbits of knowledge. It's great to see videos from real people and not shops or sponsored folks.

    That is my dream guitar. I have 4 Martins but not the OM 28E. One of these days though ! GOD BLESS YOU AND TEXAS ! I have an OM 21 I love the OM's ! Thank you for the great video! You are right about them set up high. I brought mine home and the first thing I did was lower the action. When I started working on it the wife about had a stroke !

      Thank you. They are great guitars. I will minor maintenance on mine but I just don't have the nerve for the big stuff.

      @@davidmurphey9514 I remember when I brought home a new OM 21 and immediately took the step strings off, took out the saddle and started running it down to lower the ever high Martin Action.
      That OM 28 E is one of the best guitars Martin makes.

      @@752brickie can't argue with that. I also sanded the saddle.

    Love your reviews. I bought a Martin OOOxe from MF STOTD for $359 in Feb 2020. Great deal. Mexican but a great deal. One cheap Martin with spruce top and great martin tuners.

      They are great guitars. Initially I planned on going the 00028. I preferred the tension of the om28. Most would prefer the shorter scale for playability. Personally I think the om28 has an on sound. Thank you for your post. Good luck and thanks for watching.

    Modern Martin OMs have 1/4" wide top X bracing and tone bars . Authentic OM bracing on both 18 and 28 style has 5/16" X bracing with 1/4" tone bars. Also, OM X bracing crosses 1 1/6" from the bottom of the soundhole.

    I believe another difference between the 000 and the OM is the nut width. 1 3/4 " on the OM vs 1 11/16". There may be a difference of string spacing at the bridge as well. Nice guitar.

    Beautiful guitar, I have a Martin DCX1E dreadnought, made in USA model it’s 14 years old, have never really played it, my wife bought it for me right before I had shoulder surgery, I think 🤔. I will try playing it Thanks for the inspiration,, your guitar has a beautiful tone...

    Like your Martin OM-28 very much👍. I’m saving for a new guitar and like the Purch O/M and the Martin OM -28 but which one to go with , I playa lot of John Denver music. It’s a difficult choice as both are very good.

    • @davidmurphey9514

      If you plan to do a lot of finger picking the OM or 000 is a good way to go. There's not a heavy bottom end. To my ears the strings seem more balanced. The 00018 is also a great guitar. If you want a bigger sound The D28 or D35 would be a wise choice.

    Hi David... great review. I agree, super nice to get reviews from non-sponsored players. I'm thinking about the OM28 MD or maybe a Collings OM 2H (same price point). Have you had any experience with Collings?

    • @davidmurphey9514
      @davidmurphey9514  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Honestly I haven't played that model of Collings. I have played one similar to it that a friend had. Given what I heard it would be a tough decision. I'm afraid it would come down to a coin toss. Verify both companies customer service. One thing I am not impressed with is Martin's open back tuners. Thank you for watching.

    What strings do you have on the Om28 in thi s review?

    • @davidmurphey9514

      Elixir phosphorus bronze 12-53. I also have used Daddario coated strings. Comes with Martin's 12-54.

    Very well done :). How would the D28 differ from this model ?

    • @sidnewman7676
      @sidnewman7676 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The d-28 has a wider waist and deeper depth, so a much bigger body. The result is a dip in the mid range and a bit louder

    • @davidmurphey9514
      @davidmurphey9514  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The D28 is a dreadnought. It has a deeper bass response. More boomy on the low end. It has a bigger sound for flat picking. Great guitar for bluegrass or flat picking. Not particularly a good guitar for recording. The 00028 and OM28E are more balanced. Each string generally maintains the same level of volume. More suitable for finger picking. There are way to many thing's structurally different for me to cover. However, there are literally thousands of videos I'm sure on TH-cam that do. I hope though I was able to provide the answers you were looking for. Thank you for watching the video. Have a wonderful day.

    • @davidmurphey9514
      @davidmurphey9514  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Last year I ordered saddles and nuts and was told tusk is all they use. Perhaps that may have just been the stock at the time. I have seen no difference in sound or tone between bone or tusk.

      Truly my pleasure. Best thing is to try both. I just feel it's the better guitar. However, it's more important that what ever guitar it is, it's the one that fits you. I'm about to do a video on a sleeper guitar that became available in 2019. However, do to the pandemic it didn't get the press it should have. It's a concert style guitar from Yamaha called the FSX5. I love Martin, Taylor and Gibson acoustics but this guitar is truly unbelievable at the price it's sold for. It's something to see and hear. The video is coming up this week. Just thought you should know. Thanks for listening and watching.
