    Why apply solder 2 inches from the seam?? Solder is 50 bucks a roll, save it!

      Well sir, when its your responsibilty to answer to customers as to why they develop leaks, we found it prudent to overcompensate rather then try and save a few dollars on solder. I do agree with your statement however, if you see our builds currently, you can barely even see the soldered joints.

    I like how your still design has the cone nice and even with the pot. I see other companies that have the copper go over the pot which seems like a waste and looks odd. Plus i think it acts as a heat sink and takes up more room. This one looks better.

    Is the 20 gallon 18 or 20 gage copper?

  • @tomguitaronline
    @tomguitaronline 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I was watching various builds on copper pot stills. I love how yours looks where the cone fits on the top of the pot as opposed to hanging over. I noticed alot of the builder put the pot upside down in a bucket and then wrap the cone around leaving a couple of inches overhang which in the long run wastes copper i imagine. Is there an advantage to building them either way? or is it just for looks. thanks, tom

    Wow bud. Thats a lot of solder to clean up. Way too much.

    Try putting some copper rivets along that seemed and you won't have to use 35 lb of solder

    So, do you run cold water in and out? If so, why not add fittings for a hose attachment etc. Or can you use crushed ice and water during the run or will it not stay cold enough. I have a 6 gallon copper pot and am getting ready to try it the first time.Thanks, MT

    how do i fill the thumper? You don't show where it fills and if it's that small hole in the front, i guess it will be difficult to clean. I'm on the fence about buying one but the thumper doesn't seem right

  • @mayamoomilk6610
    @mayamoomilk6610 ปีที่แล้ว

    on the cone part, wouldn’t you just need to fill the seam with solder? and not waste the solder on the edges and etc, it’s so much solder

    To jest zaprzeczenie tego, jak powinno się lutować😐Im więcej lutu, tym spoina słabsza. Do tego wygląda to na cynę z ołowiem, cyna bezołowiowa tak łatwo się nie topi, więc nie nadaje się do celów spożywczych. Lutowanie powinno odbywać się na zakładkę zagniecioną, tym bardziej dno. Od wewnętrznej strony zakładka również powinna być zalutowana w przeciwnym razie, będzie zbierał się tam brud, patyna, bakterie. O estetyce nie wspomnę...

    We always put the seam on bottom. Just slightly flat. Slide it off the edge a little at a time. heat from the outside. Apply solder on the inside and let the heat pull it into the seam.

    his torch is too close to the the copper, if he'd back off a couple inches it would heat up without overheating.

    You're not using enough long sheet metal clamps Boss

    • @vengeancestills
      @vengeancestills 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They stay mostly at our TIG welding tables. These DIY videos are meant for the DIY'ers and we don't want them to think you need a bunch of extra tools to build these, trust me those small clamps do just fine. But yes I agree with you, spend $50 on some long handle clamps and it can be easier.

    One more question, the area under the Cap, you leave the like that ledge that area that will collect liquid from vapor cooling falling back down, or do you cut that out to the same size as the collar?

      Really makes no difference in the grand scheme of things. Your only taking about a couple ounces. I've seen guys spend hours and make the transition absolutely perfect. Just boiles down to what's going to nag your mind when looking at it :)

    Hello!I want to make a copper container for a moonshine machine as a gift to a friend for his 65th anniversary.Please tell me how you connect the bottom and the cylindrical part of the future capacity of such a volume, as well as how you prepare the cylinder for its docking and subsequent soldering.Is it necessary to cut the edges of the sheet in the form of petals for their reliable coupling, or do you make do with the usual overlap of metal on metal with their subsequent soldering?And more:What thickness of metal for a volume of 100 liters would you recommend using?Thanks.

    Why don't you make a locking seam and then solder twice as stronger and a lot less solder. A course in sheet metal would help

    • @chrispurdy7004
      @chrispurdy7004 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why stop there... We offer tig welded seams for additional strength for those who want it. A course in manufacturing would educate on how to produce hand crafted items on a large scale. Appreciate the advice though
