I'm a boomer. I'm retired and my wife isn't. We cruise together once a year and I cruise solo once a year. I did 7 nights Alaska solo, Loved it. I did 14 nights crossing the Atlantic solo, Loved that too. In one week, I'll be in a solo balcony doing 15 nights through the Panama canal. Super excited. I have no idea how to manage going on a land vacation like Ireland or Britain or Europe on my own. I have some medical issues and impairments that might be a problem anywhere else. But cruising solo? That's easy. 10/10 highly recommend.

Great tips! I really love the flexibility solo cruising seems to offer. You can be social or stay in your soloness😊. I'm hoping to take my first solo cruise in 2025. I've cruised several times but not solo. Looking forward to it. Thanks again for the content from a fellow GenXer😅.

NCL, does not charge for two. Sometimes Royal caribbean will give a nice discount. 😊

I’m confused about her answer because the things she named on carnival royal has as well lol especially on their mega ships lol they have the best shows at sea hands down.. lol

I've cruised many times as a solo in a group situation but about to venture out completely solo! For the first time I'm going to get the internet package so I can keep in touch with family and also share my experiences of places online regularly. I also keep an eye on Cruise Critic and Facebook groups for my cruise.

If really concerned put an AirTag inside a piece of clothing you are wearing, especially on shore excursions.

Hi Cheryl….I have realized that although I’ve been on many cruises, being “single” kinda prepped me as a Solo Cruiser. I did lots of things alone while not alone on ship. My last 3 cruises with others (last was Oct ‘24) convinced me that my decision to go it Solo is the best way for me. While on the Oct cruise I met so many people that were friendly. I was again by myself a lot and I enjoyed it! But while with my CabinMate I felt more pressure to be considered and I was judged on non-issue things that almost began an argument with a longtime friend. THAT WAS IT FOR ME!!! My suggestion is if you find yourself doing solo things in the company of others than more than likely you’ll LOVE being 100% Solo. I’m leaping in January. SO EXCITED!!

Great tips Cheryl😊As a solo cruiser I email my itinerary, flight, hotel and passport to at least to family members. When using ride share I share my location. I don’t get the internet package, because I unplug while on vacation. DND 😂

I love your suggestion about Facebook groups. We were taking a family cruise just before the Covid shut down in 2020. The Facebook group devoted to that cruise was very active and I saw quite a few singles making friends and being invited to get together a. We met up with People that we had chatted with, and it really added to experience. Obviously, I wasn’t solo on that, I have been on others, but that would’ve really been a great entry to meeting people.

In reference to section about security and knowing that someone knows where you’re at. I think if you stick to Cruise lines sponsored shore excursions that will add another level of security. I know they tend to cost more, but your name will be on a list and you will be checked in and off the cruise ship by staff members who will certainly, know if you’re not there. I think also leaving and itinerary of where you intend to be off the ship in your state room is a good idea, if you are noted as being missing that one place security will go look. I had an apple AirTag in my purse and I didn’t think about it at the time, but I guess that would serve as a tracker for myself as well. That being said, I don’t know what coverage is like in some islands of the Caribbean.

Great tips! I'm 54 and returned to cruising solo last year on Virgin Voyages after sailing twice in 2001 & 2005. I've found TH-camrs like you, FB groups, online travel groups and travel advisors to be the most helpful in addition to my own research. I cruised solo 4 times this year, 5 booked for 2025, and half way through 2026. I've enjoyed the solo cruiser activities on NCL Viva and Virgin Voyages the best for me. It was great to finally meet you at the VV solo meeting up in August!
