Documenting my journey here...
Hey Fam, I'm a doctor from India with an AIR -169 in NEET-UG (someone told me that's important to mention, no idea why).
Currently, I'm working as a Junior Specialist Doctor in the United Kingdom (UHB NHS Trust). On this channel, you'll find videos about my USMLE/PLAB journey because there wasn't a lot of information available when I started this journey. I hope these videos make your journey/struggle a bit easier. It's not going to be a cakewalk guys, but we'll do it together!
I also post shorts/vlogs about living in the UK, psychiatry, mental health, and all the things that I enjoy (no filter). If you find any of these videos interesting, consider subscribing.
If you want to contact my team, DM us on Instagram. Our handles are: @_dr.ill(Team), @mumm_tazz (Me). We'll revert back to you guys as soon as possible.😊
Stay motivated!

much needed video ... thanks a lot
Thanks and all the best for the interview.
Hi can you explain how to built your portfolio for IMT? Did you have prior experience in it?
It’s not true that the total application score includes the portfolio score. It’s also not the case for this year that the communication score is based on the whole interview, it’s based on only on the clinical station.
Thank you for the video doctor. But this year the format has changed. The interview score is the sole decider of the rank and ergo the offers received, your application score has no relevance to the final score.
I see
Hello. Can you please tell me if these two sources would be enough? Some people say the emergencies section from the Oxford Handbook of Clinical Medicine should also be done.Given the time constraints, I don't think I can do that. Additionally, should we do the whole of the ICS books questions? It's quite extensive.
Thanks Kahkashan, Can you please clarify the interview timings? You said it is 60 minutes but then at 5:40 it said 2-9 minutes. Is that for each of the 5 sections in that list? And are their specific or guideline timings for each section?
My bad. The total duration of the interview is 30 minutes, so 2-8 mins each. As candidates we just have to finish intro within 2mins. For the rest of the interview, they take care of the timing.
@@MumtazKeh Thanks. For the benefit of others, I summarised the following info from the IMT website: Interview Structure and Timings (30 mins total allocated time) Station 1 - 11 mins Q1 Application & Suitability - 6 mins a. Presentation - 2 mins b. Questions - 4 mins Q2 Ethical Scenario - 5 mins Station 2 - Clinical scenario and patient handover - 11 mins a. Reading & prep time - 3 mins b. Questioning - Up to 10 mins c. Handover - 1 min
How much money in INR you need to show in your bank statement for duration of 6 months of visa?
After passing plab 2 did you stay in uk and waited for full GMC registeration or you went back to india after passing plab 2 and then returned to uk after you secured your registration and a clinical attachment?
Hi doctor Could you please make a video on Pathway for surgical training in the UK after clearing PLAB
Thanks for your comment! Yes, the journey to surgical training in the UK is quite structured-starting with passing the PLAB exams, building a strong CV, passing the MRCS exams, and then applying for surgical training through Oriel, followed by interviews. I’m planning to create a discussion video with some of my surgical training friends to dive deeper into each of these steps. We’ll share personal experiences, tips, and advice to help guide candidates through this process. Stay tuned for the video, and feel free to let us know any specific questions or topics you’d like us to cover!
What's the details of the accomodation?
Can you please guide the imgs on how to build the portfolio/CV
Can you please tell that are the questions asked the way it there in Medibuddy? In the interview? Is it same or different?
I’d say the mock questions do give you a pretty good idea of the interview.
Tysm for the video♥️ it was helpful Would be getting in touch on instagram
Sure 😊
Hello. Your video was very helpful. I am currently studying for msra and have to prepare for the interview as well. So how much time daily should take out from studying to prepare for the interview?
It varies from person to person . But 30 minutes per day should be more than enough.
Do we need all this to be done for non training job as well?
It looks good on you cv but it is not mandatory for non-training jobs
I am somewhat confused regarding testing. As TB test report takes 2 weeks so should I get it done 2 weeks before joining the attachment?😊
hey can you tell me that is it possible to get imt if you dont have any NHS experience
It is, as long as you get your CREST signed. I do not recommend it though.
Hello mam i had a question Does the hierarchy system exist in UK too like how in india consultants abuse senior residents and then they do the same to juniors
It is sad that you’ve experienced that, the seniors that I had in India were nice to me. Talking about hierarchy, it is not as much as in India, the consultants are very approachable here. We’ve got issues like racism here 😉(atleast in some areas)

Hi i am an mbbs graduate preparing for plab Can i do a clinical audit in uk?
What reason should we give to apply for 2 years visa
Also one more doubt could we do clinical attachment before plab 2 or only after passing Plas 2. Is passing plab 2 necessary for clinical attachment?.
Could you give me your mail id so that i could mail my doubts to you?
Could you do a vid explaining how you got the points required for the IMT interview and the timeline it took for you?
Thanks for the query. That is my upcoming video this December.
@MumtazKeh okay thank you doc!
What is non -training job and training job ?
Training jobs are post graduate equivalent programs. Non training jobs are house job equivalents.
What should i include in my CV?
Congratulations for ur imt♥️ can u help me prepare for mine as i m blank at the moment
Sure
Hi, really loved your video😊. I wanted to know, how can we get into ophthalmology training? How long is the training?
Honestly there arent 10 job adv even popping up these days Max ive seen is 6 or 7 on a good day And this is after ive refreshed every 5- 10 minutes
I agree. Non training jobs are more available when during August when many non- trainees move to training programs. So you should get a decent amount of job adverts around march.
@ thank you ! This is reassuring
Cute doctor 😅
Mam 😂 plzz use muscles of facial expressions 😅
Gloomy and dirty sidewalks, need to be power washed.
Do we need to do presentations specifically in the UK or USA or are conference presentations in India just as significant?
You can claim points for presentations in India, it wouldn’t be considered international though. The significance will be determined in the interview, if they do ask you to talk about it.
@ Thank you Doctor, around what part of your medical education did you begin to do research and presentations?
@ I started locally.
Can audit done on home country for IMG claim 4 point
If you have evidence that you participated in all the staged and 2 cycles, than why not?
Can you tell if we clear PLAB 1 then come to UK and in how many days we will have PLAB 2 and after clearing PLAB 2 in how many days we will get the job ?
Also, does PG Cert. in India can claim 3 points
I think you should be able to
I have 1 year of experience as teaching Anatomy and Physiology theory course for Bsc Nursing Std. Can I claim 3 points here.
You should be able to.
Thanks for the Video is coauthor the 2nd or 3rd author or it could be anyone participating in the publication ?
All the authors expect the first author are considered co-authors.
Thanks Doctor for the video. You did mention that in a section with point 0, there's provision to make a comment. I seem not to find that section or do you mean under the supporting information for each section?
Yes, that is what I meant.Apologies for the confusion.
Could you please tell me, how can I include my publication details of research, as my original research article is under the process of publication.
I remember providing the link to the published article. As that is not available, try including the title, author, journal, and status: IN PRESS, and expected date of publication. You can mail the concerned journal about details to include.
I have 1 year of experience as a teacher of Anatomy and Physiology for BSc Nursing 1st year student. It comprised 120 hr of theory and 40 hr of practical sessions. Can I claim 3 points here
Does PG Cert online courses from India can claim 3 points?
Can you send us the feedback form samples for teacher
Thank you@@MumtazKeh
Romania 6 year's MBBS study than uk job in doctor?
Well I graduated from India so it wasn’t that long. But if you’re studying in Romania, here are some pros and cons to consider: Pros 1. **EU-Accredited Education**: Romanian medical degrees are generally recognized across Europe, and many graduates successfully register with the UK’s General Medical Council (GMC). 2. **Affordable Tuition and Living Costs**: Romania is often more affordable for international students compared to the UK, which can make it financially easier. 3. **Quality of Education**: Many Romanian medical universities provide a solid education with good facilities and experienced faculty, especially in cities like Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca. 4. **Easier Admission Process**: Admission into Romanian medical schools can sometimes be less competitive compared to the UK. 5. **Pathway to GMC Registration**: Upon graduation, Romanian MBBS graduates can apply for GMC registration, especially as the PLAB exams may not be required due to EU-recognized degrees (though this could vary based on GMC rules at the time). Cons 1. **Language and Cultural Barriers**: While courses are often in English, there may be challenges with learning Romanian for clinical rotations and day-to-day interactions with patients. 2. **GMC Registration Process**: Although Romanian degrees are often recognized, GMC requirements can change, so it’s important to keep updated on any changes to the GMC’s policies regarding qualifications from Romanian universities. 3. **Competitive Job Market**: IMGs from EU countries still face a competitive job market in the UK, with IMT and specialty training placements being quite competitive. 4. **Adjustment to UK Medical System**: The UK has a unique healthcare system and clinical protocols, so there might be a learning curve in adjusting from Romania to the UK system. Final Thoughts If you’re focused on getting to the UK and are open to a longer route, this can be a good option. Just keep in mind that it will involve a lot of self-preparation, and staying updated on GMC and NHS requirements will be crucial.
Hi, doctor! Do we need the police verification when we apply for the CA, or when we’re about to start? I’ve heard it only has a validity of 3 months?
Hi Your PVC/PCC should be valid for the period of your attachment. You would definitely require it when you apply for the visa but you need to submit it to the hospital before you’re about to start. Some hospital do ask for it well in advance. As far as I remember, a PCC is valid for 6 months.
@@MumtazKeh okay. Thankyou!
What an absolutely gorgeous girl! Such informative, cultivated and genuinely helpful tips. And explains everything so well.
Made my day! 🤗
Hey Dr First of all congratulations to you for getting into IMT 🎉 I am looking to directly get into a training job. I have my CREST form joined and other than QIP, I guess I have some score in each sections. What score would be required in IMT 2025 ….as I see there was a score of around 16-18 for shortlisting in IMT 2024…can you reveal how much was your score….just to get an idea for me bcoz if I am not wrong ur profile that u have entered for shortlisting is before you have started the non-training job ….so I am guessing that whatever you have done in your non-training didn’t help in getting into IMT. Can you p,ease guide me through this… and also for teaching if our senior didn’t accept to give me the “teaching observation form signed or letter of recognition” is there any other way around to work through this?
I have talked about my score and the recent changes in IMT2025 applications in this video: PORTFOLIO SCORING FOR IMT APPLICATIONS 2025 th-cam.com/video/J3BouusIDvg/w-d-xo.html While most of my score was based on the activities I presented working in India, I think the new job gave me two very important things: 1) CREST form 2) Much needed NHS experience : got to understand the system and the expectations it has with its IMTs.
Wrong information....ielts is conducted 48 times and oet is 12 times in a year
Thank you!
No worries!
Hey doc, I'm currently working on a research in India. but it will not be finished by the time I need a job. Can I put it in my CV as "In progress". Would it add any points?
If you are talking about non-training interviews, there's no harm in mentioning it in your CV. However, I don't think they consider it a research unless and until that is in press/ published. If you're applying for training jobs straight away, mention only the research papers that are published/ in press. Good luck!
Hello, if my internship was 8 months can I apply with my postgraduate experience? And it must be 2 years without gaps?
