Thanks Ken Ragan for speaking kindly of my friend Tim. Being associated with him was not a danger, he was nothing but talented and made some mistakes as we all HAVE! I will tell his sister Sandy everything you said, we speak all the time! Would love to talk to you!
@ I am very interested in hearing which one of those so called innocent women gave HIV to him? If you no please advise. Because once he was diagnosed in Dec 86 his world came to a halt. Did you know him? Were you there because I was!!!! Don’t believe everything you read in an article.
@@stoplightbandit3965 Not to mention "innocent" women who did nothing but throw theirselves at him. Tim wasnt the type of person who would intentionally infect anyone.
Yes, Ken is definitely one classy guy!! Looking forward to more from Ken. I didn't know that he was close to Tim Richmond, that was great to hear. I have always felt that Tim was one of the very best race car drivers of all time. RIP Tim.
This is a subject I have been wanting to know more about for the last 36 years and virtually *NO* information on it is available *ANYWHERE*! Thank you for providing this! Though I'm still yearning for some details as Ken was being pretty vague on the subject but regardless, thanks for interviewing one of my favorite drivers and a fellow Georgian who is also one of the more obscure and hard-to-find subjects of NASCAR history!
GREAT INTERVIEW!! I sometimes feel like a nuisance when I ask a retired driver for an autograph. I hope they all feel like Ken feels and it makes them feel appreciated and admired by fans like me. (BTW . . . I don't have his yet.)
I know Sandy, Tim's sister , and she is a class act. Her son Todd , his nephew, was a really good guy. That story sounds exactly how the Richmonds were.
Had Tim live to be an old man, Earnhart and Gordon's success would have been divided by a good bit. One of the best wheelmen ever for sure..... Only a few can drive everything, Tim was one for sure, Stewart and Larson are as well !
I don’t know if you knew him personally, but there was no way he was going to live to be old, his life was out of control. And had social media been a thing back then like it is today with people taking pictures and videos and posting everything, he wouldn’t have made it in racing as long as he did.
@sandradavis33 He had that thing where when there was a line in the sand he would lean 5 degrees past with face in the wind. He also didn't care about money, it was all about winning and live on the edge. Those people trend to be great until they die. He was an amazing driver, just didn't have ability to live life with in some kind of limits......
I will always consider Tim Richmond one of the biggest what-ifs in NASCAR history. What if he lives and his career trajectory continues to sky rocket? How many championships does he win? Would it be enough to keep Dale Earnhardt out of the first class of inductees into the NASCAR Hall of Fame?
@TheSceneVault From time to time I still look up Tim Richmond Riverside. When you watch him drive at that track you know he's special, a true wheel man for sure. A stock car racing would be different had he lived to see his 50's.

@@stoplightbandit3965 There is zero proof he knowingly passed it to anyone. And guess what .... someone also gave it to him.

Ken is one classy guy. i miss those early to mid 1980's NASCAR. that was the best time to be into that sport.
Thanks for posting this. Ken Ragan is a class act all the way and so is David.

Thanks for this excellent interview and podcast.
Thanks for the memories!
Tim was my favorite driver too. Mr. Ragan seems like a down to earth guy
Loved the quote. "What a show that was" 😊

Big mouth Jaws 🐀had a lot to do with messing up Tim’s ride that year ✌️😇🏁
Oh man, that whole Corvette thing teared me right up. Jeez, I need a minute.......
NASCAR did him soooooo dirty. Another unforgiveable ignorance.
REMEMBER = 99.99 % OF TIMS PROBS WERE LINDA VAGHN
How so?
100% of his problems were that he let his little head think for the empty head on his shoulders.
99.99 % of Tim’s problems was Tim! As someone who knew things about him off the track, he was out of control.
