What You Should Know Before Moving to Lubbock
DEMOCRATS 🤔🤨🙃
Dallasans are mean, the city is much like Los Angelenos.
Austin liberal in a pink shirt at a hoity toity desk. Ill pass on that opinion thanks
I know you’re joking, as Lubbock where I have lived for 20 yrs myself is the most LIBERAL city I’ve ever lived in…and a lot of it is all the illegals here…all you hear is “oh it’s conservative”😂😂😂like where??? The majority here is Hispanic and they are majority Kamala voters😂😂😂have you ever walked into Sephora and been greeted with a fully made up face of a “dude!” I have…first ever…have you ever went into bath & body works & been greeted by a big obese dude with long hair shirt unbuttoned to where you could see his hairy chest, oh and red lipstick??? Or how about Ulta being advised on makeup by a 6’4 inch black dude wearing a tutu(& nope not Halloween)…y’all are def trying to sell Lubbock for something it def is NOT! The wind you got right, as it is windy, and also stinks…the cottonseed blows and omg you can’t breathe…the education is one that lacks to be desired here, as it’s way below standards…as well as the std rate was, and still is as far as I know the highest in the state! You’re making it sound like this is a clean, conservative, corn fed, safe, Christian paradise, and it is anything but…a lot of people would have you believe that here😵💫but it’s lies of the rich, and education is one of the major reasons why it is not, as well as all the illegals!
Bowie County is great place to live. From De Kalb to Texarkana.
I'm checking out Texas from Colorado. Very informative video thank you!
Go herping in Lubbock, Texas and find yourself a Trans Pecos Rat Snake!!!!
Stay out of Texas we don’t want any more libtards!
Austin , Brownsville or San Antonio are the only places I would move to . DFW is too big for my taste .
Nothing about El Paso?
It’s clear my man hasn’t seen many other places given his excitement about Lubbock.
You sir are a puss
I’ve been subd and listening for a few months to possibly move there next summer. The type of soil is important because basements aren’t done in Dallas but are in some older houses in Lubbock. Are basements a possibility with new construction out there, and which areas?
This is my street. In the viridian
I built that front porch!
I helped frame the first house!! Its beautiful
Thanks for the information... Like I told you in person, you were the reason I moved to Lubbock. I saw you content on TH-cam and found the perfect home in South Lubbock. I met you in the @Home Store and acted like I met a damn superstar... LOL! It was cool to bump into you at the store and I was glad that I could tell you the story of how your videos convinced me to move her. 3 years later, still digging the city. Thanks!
@@dfelix419 amazing man! I remember it :) Thanks so much for continuing to watch and keep tabs on the channel. I’m glad you love it here!
Okay I definitely won’t be going liberal Austin thanks.
Did all the stuff you mentioned came?
San Antonio is humid? That's where Houstonians go to dry out
Notice he isn't interviewing any minorities.
Fort Worth way better than Dallas.
Fort Worth and San Antonio are two of the most historically authentic big cities in the state and my favorites as well! Fort Worth has the Stockyards and its own Cultural District and San Antonio has The Alamo, The Riverwalk and The Missions trails!
Idk if you mention this in the video, but unlike Vintage, Oakmont is so easy to get lost in. I've spent countless time in both and never had issues navigating Vintage, but Oakmont is just impossible 😂.
Great video!
Nothing says great community like "don't bring your culture here"
Texas is hot. Think twice before moving here if you are from Califonia or Pennsylvania or Michigan. You might think you are saving money on the cost of living, but wait until you get your utility bill. There is nothing to do here but go from your air conditioned car to air condidtioned buildings, and you can do that anywhere. (All of the sports arenas are inside because it's hot.)
Hello. How is the transportation there? I rely on biking/public transportation. Thanx!
Don’t listen to this guy. If you are moving to Texas, check out Texarkana, La Porte, Del Rio, Plainview, Ozona, and Brownsville. They are the best Texas has to offer. Maybe Wichita Falls too.
Im down the street from hank hill😂🤣😂🤣
Where you live depends on your age. I lived in Austin for almost thirty years, and moved here almost ten years ago. The size is perfect for me, and has everything I want. It is a college town, so some crime statistics don’t surprise me
Why live there when I'm a hour away 💀
Best part of Texas
I’m just over the western border of “don’t move here” If you follow your graphics. It’s great here.
There is nothing to do in lubbock and hard to find a job if u arent in construction, transportation or medical field
This guy knows so little about Texas it makes me shake my head. San Antonio is technically South Texas. Also, saying that winter weather in San Antonio (or Austin) is the same as DFW is nuts. Dallas has two ice storms a year. Not in SA. It’s clear he likes vanilla toast Dallas, doesn’t like Houston, and doesn’t understand geography.
The 2nd one is semi-true. A lot of entertainment here is HEAVILY dependant on having the money to afford it or the time away from work to go to them. The concerts can be great, but when you are little joe blow barely making enough every month for rent and some food, with no money for anything fun or even for rides to work, then your options for entertainment are extremely limited. And the crime *is* bad. We were listed in the top 10 for crime rate in the entire nation, and trying to blame it all on east side isn't gonna help you at all, since that is the side of town that is actually affordable for much of the Lubbock population. Both things can be easily fixed if employers would actually pay their employees a living wage. We have bad healthcare (especially in the STD department) for 2 reasons, and I say this as a Tech student who is a non-traditional married student that is mid-30s in age: 1) Tech ups the rate on the STD side of things because it's population is mainly made up of a bunch of young adults, finally out on their own for the 1st time, doing what adults do while lacking any actual proper sexual education, because many of them are from the local area where abstinence only sex education is taught (and studies have shown that abstinence only sex ed actually leads to *more* sexual issues and spreading of STDs). Don't like it? Then teach proper scientific sexual education before they get to the college level. You don't have to go telling 3 year old little Timmy what sex is, but when the kids are like 16-18 sit them down and have a *real* sex education conversation with them before you send them off to college, and explain *why* they may want to wait before sex, whether it be because of your religion or because of health reasons, but at the very least tell them the warning signs of STDs and how to properly use protection! If you are squimish yourself, or are having issues trying to find a way to approach it, or don't even have a proper sexual education yourself, then contact your family doctor if you can afford it, or look up videos from doctors on TH-cam for free! 2) Lack of *affordable* healthcare. People can barely afford rent and food, we can't afford to go to the doctor, and for many they can't even afford daily life saving medications like insulin, so try to fix that and that'd help. (this goes into number 7 a bit too). The public transportation is messed up because Citibus is considered a public company owned by the city govenrment, meaning that it is funded with taxpayer funds, and their budget is always getting cut. They can only afford to do so much with what they have, and when half of their busses are falling apart, they are having to spend more on maintenance than they are on having to pay for more routes and workers. Want more routes and better looking busses? Pay more in taxes to help them afford those extra routes. Lack of green space: is definitely a dual problem, we are in NW TX, so certain plants just don't like to be around here, and the parks issue: again funded via tax payer money. You want more, you'll have to pay it in taxes. Pollution and allergies/asthma: yea, it's common in the area. we are literally the medical hub for the entire NW TX region. people with lifelong conditions or medical issues, like those with asthma or diabetes, are forced to come here due to the medical center being here. don't like it? then try to get the medical district to move to a different city, otherwise leave us alone, we're just trying to stay alive in this life we were forced into living. Education: no duh our education is getting worse, the funding for schools have gotten lower and lower every year. Want better funded education, schools, and better teachers? Pay more in taxes, the world runs on money, if there is no money then you don't get nice things.. of course Tech is doing better in education, it has the proper funding needed to run as an educational institution due to how much they get in tuition alone. They can actually afford to pay teachers a livable wage. The water problems is also a thing that is not just for here, and the droughts have not been helping, but this was expected. Scientists from all over the world, many of which were also from right here in Lubbock, have been trying to warn people about this upcoming problem for *decades*, and now all of a sudden everyone wants to actually care and freak about it now? Should have listened sooner, best get to prepping for a more desert style environment in the local area now at least, because there is still some time left to make sure you adapt to the newer environments coming in, the earth's climate is changning, and just because you dno't want to change doesn't mean mother nature will suddenly cave and go "awww ok, so sowwie, I won't do the changing thing!" And the political side: Lubbock is NOT a super conservative city. Lubbock has a minority of rich nutsos in government positions that like to shove their views and their religions down everyone else's throats. In reality, we have a huge moderate progressive population, and it is very evident when you talk to just normal people around town or when you go to events like FFAT. Most of the population of Lubbock *wants* to improve or progress in one way or another, while still being conservative on other issues, they just can't due to lack of funding and the nutso richies doing everything they can to stay in power. And of course there is civil unrest in the city. Again, the city government is trying to force their wants and religion down everyone else's throats, and we are all tired of it. Many of us are finally starting to take a stand against it and are trying to find ways that we can help change things for the better, Lubbock is very isolated due to geography, but then again that is entirely a thing from just being in Western Texas. Comes with the geography. I love Lubbock myself, but I can also recognize that things need to change, or in 30 - 50 years, there may not even *be* a Lubbock anymore. Human beings were made to *adapt* to change, it is literally in our very DNA makeup to do so, so trying to so stauntchly be against change and trying to force others to comply to what you want will not work at all. I for one have been noticing more and more people leaving Lubbock due to how bad things have gotten, and if we don't actually start investing in the city's people, investing in infastructure, and start being accepting towards *everyone* who lives here, instead of caring only about the old white rich men in control, then Lubbock is doomed. it will be just like with Rome, those in power got too greedy and selfish, and then Rome collapsed, and Lubbock will too if we do not alter the course. History will always repeat itself for the fools who refuse to change it after all. Life isn't a pie. If you give more rights or compassion or love to someone else, that doesn't suddenly mean that you have less rights, or compassion, or love given to you. If you have a religion that you want to follow, that's cool, but don't shove it down other people's throats, because religion is a lot like a male body part that is in their pants: It's fine to have one, but it's not fine to whip it out in public and start shoving in people's faces. otherwise, you can always just follow one basic rule in life, it's easy, jyou could even say it is the golden rule, but a slightly upgraded one for adults, ust one rule: Don't. Be. A. Dick. To. Others. SImple.

BEST THING ABOUT FORT WORTH,IS ITS NOT DALLAS!
Houston is NOT south Texas, Corpus Christi is part of the Coastal Bend, Lubbock is part of the Panhandle, West Texas is Odessa/Midland
DFW is not in tornado alley. That shifted decades ago east to other states than Texas and Oklahoma
Been living in Lubbock since I was a kid back in the day in the 90s!! Now I have seen so much crazy growth out of nowhere!!
We have lived in the panhandle for 3 years. If you work in the VA, you will face politics and see the liberal side. We miss trees and rolling hills, and the wind can be too much. There are pockets of bad areas; you just need to be mindful not to be in those areas at certain times. We personally want to leave because we want to be closer to a military establishment as veterans and retired military lose their full medical TRICARE benefits, so it's more difficult to find great providers. The VA healthcare is not that great. Canyon, Texas is beautiful and yes, the slower pace of life is heaven!
What is the average people pay for home taxes? Example for a $400,000 home?
I live in Lubbock but when you talk about Midland restaurants, Pachuco’s has to be brought up. They have amazing barbecue and tacos. Really unique place with a great menu.
Does it snow in Lubbock?
You'll see it a few times a year, but it warms up between those fronts.
Could you reference zip codes with the areas?!
Lubbock, TX: 11th largest city in Texas & the 9th most dangerous.
To anyone talking shit about Lubbock just gtfo🎉
