We liked the idea of living in Texas but hate humidity. That’s why we set our sites on Lubbock.
How are the mosquitoes in Lubbock?

Great question! In my opinion- not bad. Much worse in other parts of the state. I feel like because it’s less humid/ less water we’re not having to deal with them that much!

Andrew, I just refuse to focus on the negatives. Texas has been my home all my life, and it's still a damn good place to be!

A few years ago I asked my wife if she would want to move to Sherman or stay here in the Hoosier state. She opted for us to stay here with the grandchildren. Love the state and the people.

My two big pet peeves since moving Texas 1. The intense summer heat is just too hot 2. The crappy apartments like to take advantage of tenants and treat tenants badly. There are no meaningful laws with teeth protecting tenants rights. Get ready to be bullied and abused on the daily with no way to defend yourself and one key reason why I am leaving to a state with very strong tenant protection laws.

I wonder how the average annual spending figure is calculated. In the DFW metro, $3700 does not get you far. Electricity, gas, and water together top $800 per month in a regular sized house.

I just spent a week in the DFW and TX people don't know how to drive, real mad max road rage all the time. also a big thing I noticed was the poor air quality, it's polluted.

$3700 is not affordable, I was in Dallas when rent was $400 and houses were $40k. Thise same house ls are 200k now, with the same crappy insulation, crappy lead and cast iron plumbing, 2 conductor wiring.

To be fair most of these are only problems in big cities. Even in Lubbock many of these aren't serious issues. Texas is very very car dependent however no matter where you go.
And some of these are positives.

I've noticed that East Texas is rarely mentioned on reaction videos. Why is that?

I went to Austin for the first time. Not impressed forgot the famous bar street but it smelled like piss and crap. Also never seen so many vandalized ATM machines. Voodoo donuts was good to get a sugar high at the end of the night
