Is the Catholic Church dying out? | Fr James Mallon | Into the Truth | E18
"Why is no one else singing?" This question occurred to Fr James Mallon during his first Mass, noticing that the congregation seemed disengaged. It was an encounter that led him to ask, "Where is the joy? How do we help people encounter the living God?"
In this episode of Into the Truth, Fr James Mallon, founder of@divinerenovationministry, discusses how his search for answers led him to focus on evangelisation and parish renewal, including the use of the @AlphaCourse.
This conversation offers insights into how parishes can move beyond ritual formalities to re-engage the faithful, bringing new life to Catholic parishes.

    56:49 Catholic Truth Society, Dr. Sri’s comment and phrasing here about teaching NFP is regrettable and counterproductive. I don’t see where parishes teaching it in our diocese as describing it as such and this feels like a very poor, strawman argument. It also counterpoints his immediate point of baselines. Thank you for correcting it gently with John Paul II’s fuller intention of natural family planning. Knowing one’s on fertility and sharing that knowledge with your spouse should not be treated as a dangerous thing. It is disappointing and frankly makes sure his true feelings about people who are choosing to abstain while using NFP. I hope I have heard the message wrongly and otherwise appreciate Dr. Sri and this interview. Thank you for highlighting benefit of teaching it as host.

      @@agbook2007 thanks for your thoughtful comment! I don’t think he’s saying that NFP shouldn’t be taught or that NFP is bad. However, because most couples will have been bombarded by the secular mindset that sees children as a burden and contraception as a necessity, dioceses/parishes should focus primarily on the blessing that children are. Once couples understand this, they can approach NFP with a moral mindset. On the other hand, if they don’t see children this way and parishes and dioceses just focus on NFP, couples may approach it like it’s another form of contraception.

    Has the Catholic church taken the lead in "evangelization" ? Has the Catholic church told "the truth" ? What did Jesus teach, say about God, himself and the holy spirit ? Not as "the Holy Trinity" purports, of "three equal Gods in a Godhead", but rather as he told Nicodemus: "For God loved the world so much that he gave his only-begotten SON (in which "begotten" means to "father a child, whereby ALL sons have fathers, so that Jesus has a father, God, whose name is Jehovah, Ex 6:3, KJV, see also Rom 15:6; 2 Cor 1:3; Eph 1:3, 17; 1 Pet 1:3)," "so that everyone exercising faith ("exercising faith", Greek pisteuo eis, meaning "faith in motion", or has "works of faith", see James 2:14-26) in him might not be destroyed but have everlasting life. For God did not send ("send", Greek apostello, meaning "to send out on a mission") his SON into the world for him to judge the world, but for the world to be saved through him."(John 3:16, 17) So, Jesus is NOT God, but clearly he is Jehovah's "only-begotten Son", the only person uniquely created by Jehovah as "the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation".(Col 1:15) When Jesus was expelling "unclean spirits" or demons from demon-possessed people, they would cry out: "What have we to do with you, SON of God ? Did you come here to torment us before the appointed time ?”(Matt 8:29) "What have we to do with you, Jesus the Naz·a·reneʹ ? Did you come to destroy us ? I know exactly ("exactly", Greek eido, G1492, meaning "to see, perceive, discern, know") who you are, the Holy One OF God !”(Mark 1:24) "What have I to do with you, Jesus, SON of the Most High God? I put you under oath by God not to torment me."(Mark 5:7) "What have I to do with you, Jesus, SON of the Most High God? I beg you, do not torment me."(Luke 8:29) The rebel angels or "unclean spirits" or demons, clearly recognized who Jesus is, as "SON of the Most High God" and NOT as God, for even Satan said to Jesus: "If you are a SON of God, tell these stones to become loaves of bread.........If you are a SON of God, throw yourself down, for it is written: ‘He will give his angels a command concerning you,’ and, ‘They will carry you on their hands, so that you may not strike your foot against a stone."(Matt 4:3, 6) Thus, does Catholicism teach "the truth" ? No. Rather, they are like the Pharisees who supplanted God's word or laws with their own traditions, false doctrines and practices, as Jesus told them at Matthew 15: "Why do you overstep the commandment of God because of your tradition ?" "For example, (Jehovah) God said, ‘Honor your father and your mother,’ and, ‘Let the one who speaks abusively of his father or mother be put to death.’ But you say, ‘Whoever says to his father or mother: “Whatever I have that could benefit you is a gift dedicated to God,” he need not honor his father at all.’ " "So you have made the word of God INVALID because of your TRADITION. You hypocrites, Isaiah aptly prophesied about you when he said (at Isa 29:13): ‘This people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far removed from me. It is in VAIN that they keep worshipping me, for they teach commands of men as doctrines."(Matt 15:3-9)

      @@CatholicTruthSociety You are welcome. I am doing as Jesus told Pilate, "that I should bear witness to the truth".(John 18:37) Pilate, however, rejected Jesus words, questioning whether the "truth" could be found.(John 18:38) How many people are really interested in knowing the "truth" ? Almost none, for knowing and applying "the truth" would "upset the applecart".(see Matt 7:13, 14, in which Jesus said that few would get life) The vast majority of people are not searching for "the truth", "that there is no God but one. For even though there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth, just as there are many “gods” and many “lords,” there is actually to us ONE GOD, the Father (whose name is Jehovah, that is found some 7,000 times in an accurate Bible)," "from whom all things are and we for him; AND (making a clear distinction between "God the Father" and) there is one LORD, Jesus Christ ("the beginning of the creation by God", Rev 3:14), through whom all things are and we through him."(1 Cor 8:4-6) The Jews rejected Jesus as the promised Messiah (Deut 18:15; Isa 8:14; Dan 9:26, 27), despite overwhelming evidence, such as healing thousands of people (Matt 9:35), stopping a powerful storm (Mark 4:35-39), resurrecting a 12 year old girl (Luke 8:49-56), the widow of Nain's son (Luke 7:11-17), as well as Lazarus.(John 11:43, 44) When Jesus arrived at the tomb to resurrect Lazarus, he told Martha: "I am the resurrection and the life. The one who exercises faith in me, even though he dies, will come to life; and everyone who is living and exercises faith in me will never die at all. Do you believe this ?” She said to him: “Yes, Lord, I have believed that you are the Christ (meaning "anointed" OF God), the SON of God, the one coming into the world.”(John 11:25-27) Martha got it right, that Jesus is Jehovah's Son. So, when Jesus called Jehovah God his Father (Matt 11:25; John 12:27, 28), that is exactly right. The apostle Paul wrote that a true Christian must have the same mental attitude as Jesus, whereby they "may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ."(Rom 15:5, 6) At 2 Corinthians 1:3, Paul wrote: "Praised be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort." At Ephesians 1:3, 17, he wrote: "Praised be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.......that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the accurate knowledge of him." The apostle Peter wrote: "Praised be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, for according to his (Jehovah's) great mercy he gave us a new birth to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead."(1 Pet 1:3) Paul wrote to the Colossian Christians: "He (Jehovah) rescued us from the authority of the darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of his beloved Son, by means of whom we have our release by ransom, the forgiveness of our sins. He (Jesus Christ) is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation."(Col 1:13-15) So, the Bible makes clear that Jesus is Jehovah's "firstborn of all creation", his "beloved Son".

      What about the trinity?

    • @timhaley3459
      @timhaley3459 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@bonjyb The Trinity is NOT based on the Bible. Rather, Catholicism or Catholics took the "trinity" that the ancient Romans had in place, of "with the goddesses Juno and Minerva, Jupiter formed the triad whose worship was the CENTRAL cult of the Roman state" (Microsoft Encarta Reference Library 2005), creating their own "Holy Trinity". This basically started with the Council of Nicaea in 325 C.E. that said that God and Jesus were equal, of the "same substance" (but which there is NO substance in the spirit realm), with Jesus being "true God" as the Father, going from there to the Council of Constantinople in 381 C.E., that said that the holy spirit should be glorified, and in 382 C.E. at another synod in Constantinople, it gave full divinity to the holy spirit. In that same year of 382 C.E., Pope Damasus (who readily accepted the title of Pontifex Maximus, meaning "Supreme Priest", in 382 C.E. from Roman Emperor Gratian who rejected it, transferring this pagan title from the Roman Emperor to "the Bishop of Rome") presented a collection of Catholic doctrines called "the Tome of Damasus" (and written in Latin), and whereby "the Holy Trinity" was finalized it with the Council of Chalcedon in 451 C.E., adding "in the mix" that the holy spirit is "the third person of the Holy Trinity". It took more than 400 years after Jesus death in 33 C.E., for "the Holy Trinity" to develop and become official church doctrine, that contrasts with God's Kingdom, that was CLEARLY explained and understood while Jesus was alive (see Matt 13:1-52; Mark 1:15; Luke 8:1), as well as fully grasping that Jesus is NOT God, for the apostle Peter told Jesus that "you are the Christ, the Son of the living God".(Matt 16:16) Jesus made CLEAR that he is God's unique Son, telling Nicodemus: "For God loved the world so much that he gave his only-begotten Son (with the word "begotten" meaning "to father a child", see Matt 1:1-16, where the Greek gennao is used, that means "to procreate (properly, of the father), to regenerate, offspring, progeny", whereby "Abraham begat Isaac", KJV), so that everyone exercising faith in him might not be destroyed but have everlasting life. For God did not send his Son into the world for him to judge the world, but for the world to be saved through him."(John 3:16, 17) Matthew 27:41-43 reads of Jesus: "In the same way also, the chief priests with the scribes and the elders began mocking him, saying: “Others he saved; himself he cannot save ! He is King of Israel; let him now come down off the torture stake, and we will believe in him. He has put his TRUST IN GOD; let Him now rescue him if He wants him, for he said, ‘I am God’s SON.’”

    Do we need a pope like Jason? "If you cant say no to your sexual impulses saying yes to them means nothing". "People dont know what they want and so you show ot to them". People want to be liberated so they can be shown why chastity is so desireable. Right? Many like St, Agustine procrastinate on freedom. "Lord make me pure but not yet". "Late have I loved you".

      @@paulkiernan3256 it’s hard to gain freedom and people often don’t know what the benefits are, but if they knew they would do anything for it. Thanks for your comment.

    en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Persian_saints The ancient land of Iran has many Christian Saints and Martyrs. One of the three wisemen who followed the star and brought gifts to Baby Jesus is believed to be a Persian. Let all the Saints and Martyrs of Iran stand for Sohrab and all Iranian Christians living today. Let God keep Iranian Christians safe. Amen ✝️
