What's new:
-Playlist support: Press "e" or "E" to add or remove a preset from the playlist,
(a temporary playlist will be created in Milkdrop3\playlist.dat, you can continue it whenever you want).
- Launch the MilkPanel : PLAYLIST to edit, clear or save your playlist.
Right-click on the list to open the popup menu.
Playlists are simple text files that can be easily edited with Notepad too.
- To load your playlist, navigate to the Playlist : Load playlist menu in MilkDrop.
If you want to exit and go back to the folder selection menu, click on Playlist : Stop playlist.
The keys A, Z, F and M are disabled when a playlist is loaded for the moment.
- Edit presets with the new MilkPanel: change the colors, add some effects, tweak the waveform, and more!
If a setting like rotation isn't working, it may be getting overwritten or hidden elsewhere in the code.
For instance, a large sprite could completely obscure the waveform, shapes, and warp shader.
If the simple waveform isn’t visible, it’s likely because the opacity value is too low, making the wave transparent!
- To familiarize yourself with the features, try using the Blanks presets to explore,
click on File : New to load the default Blank.milk preset.
To view the latest presets, go to the \Milkdrop3\presets folder, right-click : Sort by : Date Modified.
Or load the Milkdrop3\playlist
ew.txt playlist :)
- New Feature: Select the screen number where you want MilkDrop to start.
- Lots of small bugs fixed.
The playlist functions well, but for now, avoid mixing presets while using it.
I haven’t had the chance to test all the edge cases yet.

It took me less than a minute to create this effect without writing a single line of code. How long would it take you to achieve something similar in TouchDesigner? :) Pattern_007.png is in the warp shader as a texture. lazer1.jpg is loaded as a sprite, layer1, SpriteBlend Mode #5, Rotate: right. this is the same double-preset (MilkDrop2077.016 fiShbRaiN geiss - witchcraft 7), a random sprite (1 to 6) pre-loaded in the ram a random effect (solarize / split / zoom / multiplicate / flip / invert) are injected based on beat detection, I'm not touching any keys ;) coming soon!

Milkdrop is real time. The AI render is not. But in a few years it should :)
Without using the unlimited can't you lock it with scroll lock like it used to work in winamp? I don't think I saw you mention that and when I was testing it last night it seemed to work for me. Thank you for doing this, I have missed this ever since winamp went out of favor. There used to be a way to use this with a directory of .jpg files, maybe other pic files as well and it would run this over top of the pic and then stretch and do the visualization to the picture. Any chance you could implement something like this? I don't remember exactly how it worked, it has been a very long time ago!
No way, thank you so much, a few years ago i've gone crazy trying to get my hdmi output through the stereo mix so winamp can listen and play the best visualizer in existence. Can't thank you enough

@@MilkDrop2077 I don't think A.I. could ever replace what exists in MilkDrop. MilkDrop is like the original. I agree, it can only make it better. I can create static sprites now to import into MilkDrop now. Gamechanger!

Fun fact: I waited 20 years for someone to update it. Then I got pissed off that no one did, so I learned C++ and started updating the code myself. ;)
You've saved me so many times mentally over the years. I'm seriously thinking of getting one of your preset packs soon to thank you for the hard work. The only concern I have is often make backups of my hard drive and I worry that if I ever have to restore to a older save that I would lose the "1 computer" license rule and I would lose my access. Let me know if there is a way to avoid this.
Thanks! And don't worry you never lose the license, you can restore as much as you want it will still work, even if you change your computer, I'll send you a new license!

it's not a plugin, just extract the files and launch it, that's all!
Hello, as first i would like to thank you that this app is still alive. But would like to ask if there is possible to move visualisations to second display with some control panel remaining on the first display? And is it possible to temporary show some text on the visualisation window? Like in Winamp when new track starts playing? I would like to introduce new DJ comming to the stage by this. 🙂 just an idea

I have a question. I have a LOT of audio inputs and outputs. Like.....more than a dozen inputs and at least 6 outputs. (small audio recording studio with a recording interface and an additional external audio DAC. Does this automatically know which audio output I'm using? or is there a setting where i can tell it which one to use? Or is there something in windows itself I need to be looking at? It seems that its not detecting audio at times (particularly the waveform lines) it seems it doesnt change when the audio stops ...but only sometimes? Im kinda confused .... is there a way to test ? Thank you again a thousand times ..... Regardless of my setup problems...you have created a masterpiece.
Hello, MilkDrop 3 listen to the default audio device. You can select the default one in the Windows options. If the preset blank.milk does not look like this: x.com/MilkDrop2077/status/1824255929631547896 it means something is not working well, try another device/headphone. Check the Help tab in the MilkPanel. In the plus version you can choose the audio device :)

I don't think you can do this live at the moment with a normal gfx card at a decent resolution (>720p), but in a few years, should be able to :)

hello is there a way to make the transitions more smoothly and a timed function to change scenes? instead of more cut. i tried using the hardcut modes but they all do it instantly.
Hello yes, press 'f' until you see 'show only classic-presets', then use the spacebar to launch a soft-cut. Press 'B' (shift+b) to choose the transition time. You'll have more options available in the future versions.

It just doesn't want to start up its giving me an error: "Error compiling ps_2_0 warp shader:" -> Press OK -> "Your hardware says that it supports shader model 4.0 [PSVersion=0x4], but it doesn't seem to do it properly - maybe your display driver is just buggy. - You might want to try updating your display driver to the latest WHQL driver from the chipset manufacturer (Nvidia, ATI, etc,)." I have a 2023 Razer with a 4070 RTX Nvidia GPU with the latest driver update, help!, Thank you!
This is a DirectX or driver problem: 1: re-installing DirectX: www.microsoft.com/en-ca/download/details.aspx?id=8109 2: update your graphics card driver (directly from the nvidia/amd/intel website). Then reboot your computer, it should work!
Question about milkdrop3 unrelated to this video (sorry in advance but google couldn't conjure anything for me), is there a way to have milkdrop3 shuffle through subfolders? As in, if I have all my presets in subfolders, is it possible for milkdrop3 to pull from any of them or do I need to specify one of them?
At the moment you can choose only one folder, but in the next version coming soon, you'll be able to create your own Playlist from any folders and subfolders!
